Description
The invention relates to a method for operating a Calender with at least one nip through one hard roller and a soft roller with elastic surface is formed. The invention further relates to a Calender with at least one nip through one hard and a soft roller with an elastic surface is formed.
Such calenders are used to make a material web, which runs through the nip, with increased pressure and if necessary, to apply an elevated temperature. On the one hand, compression occurs the material web, on the other hand you can with the treatment but also certain surface properties in the nip, such as gloss or smoothness.
A paper web is used to explain the invention used as an example for a material web. Calendering a paper web is also the main application the invention. However, the invention is also with other material webs that are similar must be treated, applicable.
A nip by a soft roller with elastic Surface and a hard roller is formed also called "soft" nip. Because of the different Properties of the two forming the nip Rolls usually result after passing through different surfaces on the soft nip both sides of the paper web. The side with the hard roller has had contact, shows a very smooth Surface. This is due to the fact that the hard Roller can provide a very smooth surface. The situation is different with the elastic roller, its Surface currently mainly with a plastic covering is formed. It is relatively difficult to do that Plastic to convey the desired smoothness. The Surface roughness of the plastic is usually far greater than the surface roughness of the hard Roller.
From DE 195 06 301 A1 it is known the plastic covering the soft roller in two layers, the outer layer having less elasticity and has a greater hardness than the inner layer. For example, the outer layer can be made of a silicone rubber be formed. The surface roughness such a soft roller is relative low compared to other soft rollers. One can nevertheless significant differences in the surface properties the material web treated in the calender detect.
The invention has for its object the quality to improve the material web.
This task is carried out in a method of the aforementioned Art solved in that the surface of the im Calender built-in soft roller with a polish is provided.
Here it is assumed that the surface roughness the soft roller is caused by pores which form in the plastic. With the help of polish these pores are filled and the roller surface is thus smoothed accordingly. As with other polished ones Surfaces too, but can be observed that a roller treated in this way is only for a specific one Time stays smooth. The pores obviously form in operation again from, for example, that polishing through the continuous material web again is removed. If you now built in the roller Condition with the polish, you are able to to apply a wear layer again and again or constantly, which is the soft or elastic roller for one can be very smooth for a certain time. This smoothness of the soft roller has a very positive effect on shine and Smoothes out the continuous material web.
It is particularly preferred that a liquid polishing agent applied to the surface and dried becomes. With the help of a liquid polishing agent uniform application relatively quickly reach the surface of the roller with the polishing agent. The term "liquid" is to be understood broadly here. It can be a pasty mass that is only limited is flowable. The polish can, however can also be sprayed in the form of a spray. Finally, it is also possible that the polishing agent first of all in vapor form and on the surface the soft roller condenses. The step of Drying is recommended to avoid that the passing material web contaminated with the polish becomes. In addition, a dried sticks Polish better on the surface.
It is preferred that the polishing agent on the Surface is applied when it is warm. The Heat accelerates the drying process. The roller is in the Operation normally warm anyway because of the elastic The covering is tumbled during operation and generates heat in the process.
The polish is preferably smoothed. This can be done in simplest case can be caused by the roller is moved past a polishing device, for example a textile upholstery. This improves the Smooth the surface of the soft roller further.
The calender is preferably used for maintenance purposes shut down during maintenance breaks and the polish will applied outside of the maintenance breaks. With others Words can the polishing agent during the operation of the Calenders are applied so that the surface polish can already be renewed before it reaches that point is worn out that there is increased roughness again shows.
It is preferred that the polish during business interruptions is applied. Such business interruptions, for example when the paper web is torn off, are undesirable, but cannot be avoid in principle. With such a business interruption anyway, the calender has to be used for a specific one Time to be stopped, for example the demolished one Eliminate paper web. This time you can use polish on the surface of the soft Apply roller. However, the roller is always removed not yet required.
Alternatively or in addition, the polish can be carried out continuously be applied. You can almost achieve that constant conditions on the surface of the soft Roller.
It is particularly preferred that the polish with Applied using a material web to be calendered in the nip becomes. For example, you can use the paper web with the polishing agent so that the paper web the polish on the surface of the soft roller emits. Of course, there must be a compatibility between Paper and polish are available so that the quality of the paper web is not affected.
Alternatively or in addition, however, it can also be provided be that the polish is applied during the maintenance breaks becomes. The calender is in the maintenance breaks stopped, so that the polish also with the help human activity can be safely applied can.
It is preferable to use more than one soft one Roll and provide a predetermined number of the last soft rollers with polish. This is especially so an advantage if the material web is a calender first so that one side only with hard Rolling comes into contact while this is smoothed Then when passing through the rest of the calender with the soft rollers. If you now provides these soft rollers with polish, then the quality of this surface does not deteriorate again made, but you can at least keep the quality.
The task is also the case with a calender of the beginning mentioned type solved in that on the soft roller a polish application device is arranged. With the polish application device you are in the Location, even with a soft installed in the calender Apply roller polish to the surface of the to make the soft roller extremely smooth. The order of the Under certain circumstances, polishing agents can even be in Operation take place so that the surface is constant Goodness can be kept.
The polishing agent application device preferably has a dispenser for liquid or pasty polish on. The polish can be sprayed on, for example or applied in any other way. Through an im broader sense of liquid polish can be a even application of the surface of the soft Reach the roller.
The polishing agent application device preferably has one in the direction of rotation of the roller on the dispenser following smoothing device. The polish is then smoothed further.
Preferably there are several nips with hard and soft ones Rollers and a changing nip with two similar rolls provided, being behind on all soft rollers the changing nip a polishing agent application device is arranged. The web of material, such Calender goes through first with one side only come into contact with hard but extremely smooth rollers. This makes one side of the paper web very smoothed out. However, this page will then be scrolled through the nips behind the alternating gap with the soft ones Rollers come into contact so that the shine or the Smoothness of this surface is destroyed again. If now on all soft rollers behind the changing nip Orders the polish application device, then stops the surfaces of these soft rollers behind the Change so smooth that at least no deterioration the quality of the surface is to be feared.

Fig. 1 shows a
weiche Walzen 6, 7 gebildet.A

The paper web is now in the nips of the rollers 2-6 first group led so that the side facing the inlet lies at the top, initially only with the hard rollers 3, 5 comes into contact. This top is going to be very smooth. The smoothness of the hard rolls 3, 5 is on the Surface of the paper web shown.

relativ schnell trocknet. In Drehrichtung 28
hinter der Sprühdüse 27 ist eine Glättungseinrichtung
29 angeordnet, die das getrocknete Politurmittel glättet,
also sozusagen noch einmal poliert. The polish application device initially has one
Anstelle des genannten Silikon-Kautschuks können auch
andere, vorzugsweise synthetische Politurmittel verwendet
her bekannt ist.
erfolgen. Voraussetzung für einen derartigen Politurmittelauftrag
ist, daß das Politurmittel entweder so
schnell trocknet, daß eine "Verschmutzung" der Papierbahn

der Papierbahn 13 verträglich ist, also keine Qualitätsverschlechterungen
herbeiführt.Instead of the silicone rubber mentioned, you can also

Offers calenders that work especially off-line It is important to always apply a polishing agent order if anyway an interruption of the normal Paper web satination is required, for example at a change of paper rolls.
However, it may also be cheaper to apply a polish only to be carried out if the Calender must be shut down for maintenance work. Of course, all types of orders can also be combined combine.
Finally, you can also use the polishing agent feed the paper web, that is to say artificially one Apply patina, which is constantly renewed.
