Respiratory protection equipment comprising a respiratory mask provided with a regulator intended to be connected to a source of pressurized respiratory gas and a harness having at least one extensible strap (16a, 16b) the ends of which are connected to the mask and which has an element which is temporarily inflatable by pressurized gas to extend the strap to a sufficient size to allow the user to engage the harness on the head and drainable to allow the strap to tighten, to apply the mask against the face and to hold it in place, characterized by a flexible envelope (30) covering the head, tightly fixed to a sheath limiting the elongation of the single strap, or of the upper strap (16a) at least, of the harness and fixed to the mask, the said envelope being transparent at least in a part which is opposite the eyes when the equipment is worn.
