Abstract

Device for cooling a symmetrical component of a turbine system exposed to non-uniform high temperatures around its periphery comprises a ring (5) connected to the component which protrudes into the stream of cooling air and is provided with slits (7) or other openings for the passage of the cooling air. The cross-section of the slits in the sections of the ring which are adjacent to the heavily stressed regions of the component is larger than the cross-section of the slits in the sections of the ring which are adjacent to the less stressed regions of the component. Preferred Features: The slits are distributed non-uniformly around the periphery of the ring and the distance between the slits is smaller in the sections of the ring which are adjacent to the heavily stressed regions of the component. The slits have different widths and the widths are larger in the sections of the ring which are adjacent to the heavily stressed regions of the component.
