       in that the means for at least limiting the separation of the edges of the slot are defined by an opening (60) of the housing allowing the passage and guiding of the stripping and maintaining mouth of the slot and by the width of the housing which is such that when a wire (46) is introduced into the stripping and maintaining slot, the connector part (42) bears against the inner wall of the cage.
  5. Connecting device according to claim 4, characterised in that the housing has a guide opening (60) for the stripping and maintaining mouth of the slot on two opposing lateral walls and in that the guide means allow the cage (44) to be guided relative to the connector part (42) such that the mouth can pass through the housing for receiving the wire to be connected (46), which is at least one in number, transversely from one part to another.
  6. Connecting device according to any of claims 4 or 5, characterised in that the cage (44) is a profiled cage of rectangular section having a first housing (54) for receiving one or more wires (46) and a second housing (56), substantially parallel to the first, for receiving a tool, such as for example the shank of a screwdriver (50), in that the cage is pivotally mounted in an insulating casing (48), in that the connector part (42) is a part having a curvature parallel to the path able to be taken by the cage and which is located outside the cage in the position before connection, the slot (52) extending perpendicularly to the housings of the cage, and in that a notch (62) is provided substantially at the centre of the curvature of the path able to be taken by the cage, to receive one end of the tool (50) allowing the latter to be clamped to act as a support during a pivoting operation of the cage (44).
