Abstract

The invention relates to paper machines. In particular, the invention concerns an arrangement for improving the beginning of the drying section joined to closed web transfer between the press section and the drying section in a paper machine. The invention is characterised in that in order to achieve less fouling of the drying cylinder (61), that is, less formation of fluff, to achieve easier doctorability and better doctoring tolerance of the drying cylinder surface in the drying section, the surface of at least the first drying cylinder has a coating (60), which includes a thin preferably hard layer (602) of ceramic material and/or metal ceramic and/or metal, to which the web will adhere weakly, and/or another softer material (603), to which the web will adhere weakly, is absorbed into the drying cylinder surface, whereby separation of the web (W) from the surface of the drying cylinder (61) is improved.
