Description

The present invention relates to a device for packaging and distribution of a liquid composition according to the preamble of claim 1 containing at least one compound, the concentration varies over at least part of the range of use of the device. The composition can be of very liquid to less liquid consistency, in particular in the form of a milk or an emulsion.

In the cosmetic field in particular, it is known to package in a suitable container, a composition comprising either a homogeneous phase or a plurality of separate phases. In the latter case, after shaking the container, there has mixing phases, and obtaining a mixture where each active has a determined concentration. The concentration values of each of the active ingredients are defined by the formulator once and for all. With each use, the distributed composition has the same concentrations.

However, in the field of cosmetics, as well as in other fields such as pharmacy, or dermatology, it might be desirable to vary, preferably linearly, the concentration of at least one active ingredient between the start and the end of treatment. This is particularly the case for sun protection for children who, in the first days of exposure must be maximum, even total, then, which may gradually decrease after a few days of exposure. It the same is true for products containing self-tanning active ingredients, which must have a very discreet effect during the first uses, then, more and more more pronounced after a few uses. It could be the same for slimming products which could have one more slimming action more powerful over use. As an example again, can be mentioned certain treatments for the skin or for the scalp, and which, in because of the aggressive action of certain compounds they contain must be applied at progressive concentration, before being at final concentration stabilized, so that treatment can continue with efficiency Max.

Today, the change in concentration involves separate packaging for each of the different concentrations. The multiplication from resulting packaging, prohibits general public use of this type of treatments, which are reserved for use in very high institutes of range. In addition, this system only allows a limited number of mergers different.

Anyway, as part of such a process of distributing a composition with variable concentration, it may be desirable to be able to moment of the process, especially at the start of treatment, be able to for a while, to keep the concentration of the composition at a fixed value, for example with a high concentration as part of a attack treatment. Thus, in dermatology, a skin treatment based on cortisone usually requires a first phase of concentrated application high in cortisone. After a few days, depending on the type and severity of the condition, or depending on the patient's skin type, it is desirable gradually decrease the cortisone concentration, until it reaches a floor value at the end of treatment, significantly lower than that of the attack phase.

For other types of application, after a few days of distribution to progressive or degressive concentration, it may be necessary to return to a fixed concentration, then again to be able to resume the concentration cycle variable.

Also, is it one of the objects of the invention to propose, a packaging unique, which can in particular be obtained by molding in one piece, and allowing the distribution of a liquid composition, the concentration of at least one compound contained in said liquid composition, varying with use, and authorizing at any time, in particular at the start of treatment, and this during a duration chosen at will, in particular according to the nature of the composition and circumstances surrounding the application, to stabilize the concentration of said composition.

It is also an object of the invention to propose a device in which a such variation in concentration is linear, at least over part of the range of uses.

It is yet another object of the invention to provide such a device for distribution which allows such a variation in concentration, increasingly or decreasing.

It is yet another object of the invention to provide a simple device of use, reliable, and economical to carry out.

Other objects will appear in the detailed description which follows.

According to the invention, these objects are achieved by producing a device for packaging and distribution of a liquid composition (C1), in particular cosmetic, pharmaceutical or dermatological, comprising: a) a first container containing said liquid composition; b) means capable of enabling dispensing a given volume of said liquid composition; c) means to selectively allow / prohibit an air intake inside the first container in response to distribution of said given volume; d) a second container containing a make-up composition (C2); and e) means, in particular under form of a siphon, suitable, in response to a depression inside the first container, to allow the passage of a volume of said makeup composition from the second container, to the first container so as to restore, at less in part, the pressure inside the first container.

So when the distribution of a dose from the first container is compensated by a corresponding volume of air, the pressure balance is maintained at inside the device. Therefore, the make-up composition contained in the second container is not drawn into the first. Therefore, during the following distribution, the composition distributed is at the same concentration as during from the previous distribution cycle. However, when you want to start the dispensing cycle with variable concentration, just prohibit the entry of air to inside the first container. As a result, the volume distributed will be offset by a corresponding volume of the make-up concentration, modifying accordingly the concentration of the composition distributed during the next cycle. Once the contents of the second container exhausted, the concentration of the composition dispensed is stable again, until the end of the distribution of the content of the device.

Thus, in the case of a cortisone cutaneous treatment, during a phase attack, for example for 8, 10 or 12 days, the composition is at fixed cortisone concentration, and relatively high. For reasons of security, a visual mark, of the graduated type, can be provided on the first container (part of which may be transparent) so as to allow the user to visualize the quantity of composition actually distributed at high concentration, during the attack phase. Then, at the end of this first phase, the cortisone concentration gradually decreases during a period determined in particular according to the volume of make-up composition, the quantity distributed during each application, and the frequency application. During a maintenance phase whose length is inversely proportional to the length of the first phase, the concentration of the composition is again stable, with a value significantly lower than the concentration value during the first phase.

The selective air intake means can comprise at least one orifice in communication with atmospheric pressure and opening inside the first container, means being provided for selectively closing / clearing said orifice. Such means for selectively closing / clearing said orifice may include a member, in particular a sliding shutter, movable between a first position in which it sealingly seals said orifice, and a second position in which said orifice is released.

Advantageously, an air intake member is provided to allow entry in the second container an air volume corresponding substantially to the volume of distributed composition. This return air element is necessary, in particular when the second container is in rigid or semi-rigid form. According to one alternative, the make-up composition is contained inside a flexible pocket, in particular in a metal / thermoplastic complex, the walls of which will be able sag on themselves in response to the loss of volume transferred from the second container to the first container. In the latter case, the air intake at the interior of the second container is not necessary. However, if the flexible pocket is contained in a rigid enclosure, it must be under pressure atmospheric so as to allow the deformation of the pocket.

The siphon constitutes a preferred embodiment of the invention in the since it authorizes the molding in one piece, of the device, without requiring additional valves, or other similar means, between the two containers.

Preferably, composition C1 is distributed under pressure by means in particular a pumping member, such as a manually actuated pump. Alternatively, the container may have deformable walls elastically, and to be surmounted by a valve, in particular in the form of a valve with unidirectional opening, the distribution of composition C1 being effected by pressing the walls of the first container so as to force the distribution of composition C1 through an outlet orifice on which the valve is mounted. The walls thus deformed resume their initial configuration, either during the entry into the first container of a corresponding volume of composition make-up, or by suction of air through the air intake orifice when this one is released. This second solution is not preferred, in particular when a precisely dosed distribution is desired.

In particular in the context of a configuration of the type which has just been described in the previous paragraph, the selective air intake opening inside of the first container can also be fitted with a one-way valve capable of open in response to a vacuum inside the first container so to allow an air intake in response to such a depression, and to oppose any untimely product release, especially in the event of overpressure inside of the first container.

According to the invention, in the open position of the air intake orifice, the composition distributed is at a fixed concentration. On the other hand, in the closed position of the orifice of air intake, each time the first container is pumped, as long as it remains of the make-up composition in the second container, an equivalent amount of make-up composition contained in the second container is drawn into the first container, so that the volume of liquid composition in the first container does not vary.

Assuming a make-up composition less concentrated than the composition initially contained in the first container, each volume of makeup added to the first container will help decrease gradually the concentration of said compound in the liquid composition distributed.

Assuming an additional composition more concentrated than the composition initially contained in the first container, each volume of composition booster in the first container will help increase gradually the concentration of said compound in the liquid composition distributed.

After the contents of the second container have been completely aspirated, the concentration of liquid composition contained in the first container will stabilize, and reach a final value at most equal to the concentration of the make-up composition in the second container. In practice, the final value of the concentration of liquid composition contained in the first container will be all the closer of the concentration of the make-up composition than the volume of the second container is large compared to the volume of the first container, or at least, compared to the volume of composition remaining in the first container when the orifice of air intake has been blocked.

Advantageously, said siphon-forming means comprise a conduit, one of which first end opens into the second container via a first orifice located near its bottom, and a second end of which opens into the first container via a second orifice located at a level lower than that of the first port. Advantageously, said conduit has a portion located at a level higher than the maximum level of product in the second container.

In the storage or transport position, due to the pressure balance at inside the device, the two compositions including the interface area, formed possibly an air volume, is generally located at the siphon, does not do not mix sensitively. However, it may be desirable to provide means to, before the first use, keep the liquid composition contained in the first container, of the composition extra. Such means can be arranged at the level of the duct forming siphon, and be in the form of a valve or a valve. According to a mode of advantageous embodiment, the siphon pipe has at its point the above, a portion on which it is of oblong section. Pliers, positioned on the device, facing said portion, crushes the conduit, so as to substantially prevent any migration from one composition to another. Such pliers can be connected to a cap intended to cover so removable dispensing head. So, at the first use, by removing the cap, the user also removes the forceps, thereby authorizing the communication of the two containers.

Still other means can be imagined to achieve this function. As for example, it is possible to provide that in the transport position, one end of the siphon is free and closed by an appropriate plug. In view of the first use, the plug is removed, and the free end of the siphon is fitted in a corresponding portion of the device so as to restore the liquid communication between the two containers.

Preferably, the distribution means consist of a pump manual actuation, an outlet orifice of the first container being closed with sealingly by a part, in particular an inlet duct, of said pump manually operated. Such a pump can be connected to a dip tube whose a free end is located near the bottom of the first container.

More preferably, the air intake member inside the second container is, if necessary, formed by an air intake orifice of said actuating pump manual, said air return port being in communication with said second container. For this purpose, the manually operated pump can be mounted in a neck of the device, said neck opening out separately onto said outlet orifice of the first container, and on an intermediate zone in communication with said second container, the air intake member being in communication with said intermediate zone.

Preferably, the maximum filling level of the first and / or second container, is located below the highest point of the siphon. So, to fill the device, one can proceed as follows: the liquid composition is introduced, via the outlet, into the first container, up to a level of maximum filling, which is located below the highest point of the siphon, and preferably below the level of the air intake orifice. The make-up composition is introduced into the second container via the zone intermediate, up to maximum filling. In doing so, a volume of air is enclosed in the siphon, and isolates the liquid composition of the first container from the make-up composition.

Alternatively, the two containers are filled from the same container (by example from the first container) of the same identical composition. In this the maximum filling level of the first container is located preferably, below the level of the air intake opening, and above the highest point of the siphon. After that, we introduce into one or other of the containers, a "concentrate" capable of modifying the relative concentrations of the liquid composition of the first container and the makeup composition.

Advantageously, the neck has a thread pitch capable of cooperating with a pitch of corresponding screw of a distributor head on which the pump is mounted. The dispensing head can be removably capped with a cap.

According to one embodiment, the makeup composition in the second container is such that, in the closed position of the air intake orifice of the first container, the curve representing the concentration of at least one compound present in the liquid composition pumped from the first container, depending on the number of pumped doses, has a portion with a positive slope. The compound can be a self-tanning active.

Alternatively, the makeup composition in the second container is such that, in the closed position of the air intake opening of the first container, the curve representing the concentration of at least one compound present in the composition liquid pumped from the first container, depending on the number of doses pumped, presents a portion having a negative slope. The compound can be a sunscreen or a pharmaceutical compound, such as a corticosteroid.

The invention consists, apart from the arrangements set out above, of a certain number of other arrangements which will be explained below, with reference to nonlimiting exemplary embodiments, described with reference to the appended figures, among which:
  • Figures 1A-1B illustrate an overall view and a sectional view of a first embodiment of the device according to the invention;
  • FIGS. 2A-2B illustrate an advantageous characteristic of an embodiment of the device according to the invention;

  • Figures 4A-4C illustrate the different phases of use of the device illustrated in Figures 1A-1B.

La tête de distribution 6 comprend un filetage (non représenté) apte à coopérer avec un filetage correspondant prévu sur la surface extérieure du col 3.As shown in Figures 1A-1B, the device 1 according to a mode of particular embodiment comprises a body 2, rigid or semi-rigid, the cross section of which transverse is elongated. The body 2 is surmounted by a neck 3, one of which free edge 4 delimits an opening in which a pump is mounted manual actuation 5. The neck 3 as well as the pump 5, are arranged along an axis X. The pump 5 is surmounted by a dispensing head 6, comprising a portion axially movable 7, so as to allow actuation of the pump 5, and the outlet of the composition to be dispensed via an orifice 8. The dispensing head 6 includes a thread (not shown) capable of cooperating with a thread corresponding provided on the outside surface of the neck 3.

The body 2 defines two volumes, defining a first container 11 intended for receive the composition to be dispensed C1, and a second container 12 intended for receive a make-up composition C2, capable of modifying the concentration of at least a compound of composition C1 contained in the first container.

The first container 11 comprises an outlet orifice 13 arranged along the axis X, and intended to receive in leaktight manner an inlet duct 14 of the pump 5. The inlet conduit is extended by a dip tube 15, one free end of which is located substantially at the bottom of the first container 11. The first container 11 has a transverse wall 17, into which the outlet orifice 13 opens.

In the vicinity of its upper part, preferably as close as possible to the transverse wall 17, the wall of the first container 11 is pierced with an orifice 100 A sliding shutter 101 is snap-fitted on said wall and can selectively occupy a low position in which the air intake orifice 100 is released or a high position in which the air intake orifice 100 is sealed. The sliding movement of the shutter 101 is limited by an upper stop 103 and a lower stop 102. The diameter of the orifice is of the order of a few 10 th of a millimeter. The high position of the sliding shutter 101 corresponds in particular to the transport position, to the storage position, as well as to the position of distribution with variable concentration of the composition C1. The lower position of the flap 101 corresponds to the distribution position with fixed concentration of the composition C1. Alternatively, instead of the sliding shutter 101, it is possible to use any mobile system, of any shape whatsoever, and passing from one position to another by any other type of movement, in particular by rotation or by pivot movement.

Selon ce mode de réalisation, le niveau de remplissage maximal du second récipient se situe au niveau de la surface de la paroi 17, tournée en regard du col 3.The second container 12 is disposed slightly offset axially at the above the first container 11, and is of volume substantially identical to the volume of the first container 11. The second container 12 is in communication with an intermediate zone 18 located in the extension of the neck 3, above of the first container 11. In the assembled position, a portion of larger section 19 of the inlet duct 14 of the pump 5 is located inside said zone intermediate. This portion of larger section of the conduit 14 is provided with a air return port 20 of the pump. Thus, the air intake orifice communicates with the second container 12, and is isolated from the first container 11. According to this mode of embodiment, the maximum filling level of the second container is at level of the surface of the wall 17, facing the neck 3.

The first container 11 is connected to the second container via a siphon 30 formed by a conduit one end 31 of which is in communication with the second container 12 via an orifice 32 formed at the bottom of the second container 12. The conduit forming siphon 30 has a first portion 33 rising over substantially the entire height of the body 2 of the device, up to a U-shaped portion, 34, which extends by a portion 35, descending over substantially the entire height of the body 2. The highest point 39 of the siphon pipe 30 is located above the level maximum filling of the first container 11, and substantially at the same level than the maximum filling level of the second container 12. The portion 35 is extends by a part folded at 90 °, 36 of which one end 37 communicates via an orifice 38 with the first container 11. The orifice 38 is located below the orifice 32 for communication with the second container 12. Junction zones 40, in the form of a thick wall are formed between the first container, the second container, and the different portions of the pipe forming a siphon 30.

The body of the container is obtained by molding in a single piece of a material such than polyethylene or polypropylene.

According to the device shown in Figures 2A-2B, it appears that the siphon 30 presents in the vicinity of the top of the U, 34, a hollow section of shape oblong, which can be crushed by means of a removable clamp 41 connected via a cord 42, to a removable cap 43 intended to cover the head of distribution 6 between two uses. Thus mounted, the clamp 41 isolates hermetically the make-up composition C2 contained in the second container 12 of the liquid composition C1 contained in the first container 11. We reduce thus, the risks of untimely migration from one composition to another, especially when transporting the device before its first use. To the first use, by removing the cap 43, traction is exerted on the clamp 41, which is removed, which helps restore the hollow section oblong, suitable for letting the liquid pass. The clamp 41 can be mounted before filling of the two containers 11, 12, between the filling of the first container 11 and filling the second container 12, or after filling the two containers 11, 12.

To complete the device which has just been discussed with reference to the figures discussed above, we can proceed as illustrated in FIGS. 3A-3C. In the figure 3A, the composition C1 is introduced into the first container 11, via the orifice 13, and this, until reaching a maximum level located below the level of the orifice of air intake 100, the latter being, in any event, sealed in a sealed manner by the sliding shutter 101. The composition C1 also rises in the portion 35 of the siphon 30, without however reaching the highest point 39 of the U-shaped portion, 34. A at this moment, the clamp 41 is placed on the oblong section portion 45 of the trap 30 (Figure 3B). Then, via the intermediate zone 18, a rod angled filling is introduced into the second container 12 (FIG. 3C). The make-up composition C2 is introduced into the second container 12, up to reach a level close to the maximum filling level of container 12. The composition C2 also rises in the portion 33 of the siphon 30, preceded by a air volume 50. The dispensing head 6 is screwed onto the neck 3 of the bottle, with the inlet duct 14 in sealed engagement inside the orifice 13 (see figures 1B and 2B). The cap 43 (FIG. 2A) connected to the clamp 41 is positioned on the head 6. The device is thus ready for use.

The different phases of using such a device, according to a process particular distribution, are shown in Figures 4A-4C. In FIG. 4A, the flap slide 101 is in the low position so that the air intake opening 100 is cleared. On each actuation of the pump 5, the volume of composition C1 distributed is replaced by a corresponding volume of air so that the equilibrium pressures are maintained. The distributed composition C1 is of concentration fixed. The level of product gradually decreases in the container 11, and remains unchanged in container 12.

This position is shown in Figure 4B. In this position, the air return orifice 100 is closed. In response to depression generated in the first container 11, after one or more pumps (in function of the volume of composition C1 initially present in portion 35 of the siphon 30, the air volume possibly trapped between C1 and C2 inside siphon 30, and the volume of the dose pumped by the pump 5) necessary for that composition C2 actually begins to enter the first container 11, each volume of composition C1 distributed by the pump 5 from the first container 11 is replaced by a corresponding volume of composition C2. It is then produces, as a function of the relative concentrations of compositions C1 and C2, a dilution or concentration effect of the composition distributed by the pump 5. Indeed, in this phase, the volume of composition C1 in the first container remains constant. This dilution or concentration effect is gradually in response to each pumping by means of pump 5.

In FIG. 4C, after a certain number of pumps, the entire composition booster C2 has been transferred to the first container 11, so that the liquid composition C1 contained in the first container 11 is of concentration at most equal to the concentration of the make-up composition C2 in the second container. The ratio of the volumes of the first and second containers is a factor determinant for the value of the final concentration of composition C1 in the first container. From this moment, at each pumping, the volume contained in the first container 11 decreases by an amount equal to the volume of the dose dispensed, and this until the first container 11 is completely emptied. During this last phase, the concentration of composition C1 is constant. The length of this last phase is inversely proportional to the length of the phase during which pumping from the first container 11 is carried out with air intake.

Thus, the particular distribution process which has just been illustrated comprises three main phases: a first phase, in the lower position of the sliding shutter 101 and in which only composition C1 is distributed at a fixed concentration; a second phase, in the upper position of the flap 101, and in which is distributed a mixture of compositions C1 and C2, according to an increasing concentration or gradually decreasing; and a third phase in which the composition distributed is at constant concentration, which concentration is at most equal at the concentration of the make-up composition C2 initially present in the second container.

It is obvious that with such a device, any other succession of sequences is possible, depending in particular on the type of application or the circumstances. So, it is possible to distribute the entire content of the device with the shutter sliding 101 in the high position, that is to say in the closed position of the orifice air intake 100. In this case, the concentration curve of the composition distributed will present a short stage with fixed concentration (corresponding to the priming phase of the siphon), a portion with progressive concentration or decreasing, and a final level with fixed concentration. Alternatively, in response to a change in the circumstances surrounding the application of the composition, it is possible to move the sliding shutter from the high position to the low position during the variable concentration distribution phase, so as to create a to compensate for concentration between two phases with variable concentration, etc.

The relative length of each phase, and in particular, the slope of the curve in the phase (s) with variable concentration, is adjusted as desired by appropriately choosing the main parameters of the device, that are in particular, the respective volumes of each container, the concentrations initials of each of compositions C1 and C2, the volume of the pumped dose, and the configuration of the siphon.

In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to modes of preferred embodiments of the invention. Obviously there may be variations made without departing from the invention as claimed below.
