Abstract

Shopping trolley adapted for use with a perambulator, the trolley comprising a base (1) resting on at least three freely pivotable balls or wheels (2), the base (1) being adapted to receive the rear wheels of the perambulator, the rear part of the perambulator thereby resting on the base (1), a shopping basket (3) being releaseably secured to two side walls (4) the lower ends of which being secured to the base (1), the handle (8) of the perambulator during use extending under the basket (3) between the walls (4) and being used for pushing the trolley with the perambulator, the combined trolley during use rolling on the fixed front wheels of the perambulator and the wheels (2) of the shopping trolley.

Description

Shopping trolley adapted for use with a perambulator
The present invention is related to a shopping trolley, especially adapted to be combined with a perambulator.
When shopping with small children in grocery shops, parents often have difficulties when they are using perambulators for the children. It is difficult to find a place for the groceries due to the fact that the patent as such already have a trolley, namely the perambulator and it is difficult to use additionally a shopping trolley. On the other side it is limited how many grocery products can be carried by and on the perambulator.
As such there is an offer from some grocery shops to use shopping trolleys with special seats for children, which trolleys normally are available at the entrance of the shops. In such cases, however, the perambulator must be left, the child must be lifted up and placed in the shopping trolley and above all such seats are not suitable for small children up to for example 4 months. In case the child is sleeping it is also not desirable to wake it up by taking it from the perambulator to the shopping trolley.
It therefore is an object to provide a solution for this problem, allowing parents with children in perambulators to walk around in grocery shops with the child in the perambulator and still have possibilities for transporting articles. This object is achieved with the shopping trolley according to the present invention as defined with features stated in the claims.
In the drawing, figure 1 discloses schematically a sideview of a perambulator connected with a shopping trolley according to the present invention, figure 2 dis- closes a front view of the shopping trolley and figure 3 discloses a side view of the shopping trolley according to the invention.
The trolley comprises a rectangular base 1 having rotateable wheels 2 in each corner. A side frame 4 is secured to each of the shorter sides of the base 1. Preferably the side frames 4 are connected in one side, the rear side of the trolley, by a brace rod 5.
A basket 3 is adapted to releasably be secured to the top of both side frames 4, such as by a hinging means and receptors on top of the side frames 4. In this way the basket 3 may be turned away or lifted away from the side frames 4. The basket 3 may be secured to one of the frames 4 by a not disclosed hinge means. When in use the basket 3 thereby being secured to the top of both frames 4. When not in use, the basket 3 being connected with only one frame 4, thereby opening between the frames for the perambulator handle 8.
The base 1 may be a frame with a sheet floor 6 or two bats 7 at a distance from each other in such a way that the rear wheels of the perambulator may be placed between the bars and thereby locked to the tiolley. In case the base frame comprising a sheet floor 6, the rear wheels of perambulator may be placed on the floor and locked with the locking device of the perambulator.
The rear wheels of the perambulator are lifted on to the base 1 when the bas- ket is removed from the trolley. Thereafter the basket 3 is secured to the side frames 4 and the perambulator together with the trolley may be pushed around by the handle 8 of the perambulator. The front wheels of the perambulator provide steering for the combined trolley as these wheels are fixed and not rotateable, the wheels 2 under the base 1 thereby allowing the trolley part to be displaced in any direction. The bottom of the basket suitably may be provided with flat steel bars at the short ends, being adapted to be held by magnets provided on top of the walls 4.
