Abstract

The generation of sounds by musical instruments or sound reproduction system is not perfect and the acoustic discord can be resolved. The invention concerns a method using open volumes such as a glass (1), optionally provided with a cut, a fracture (2) producing at least an orifice. Said object placed in the proximity or on a sound generator, releases additional sound waves in tune with the sound generator, by mechanical coupling or aerial sound linkage resulting from the resonator volume and its fracture. The invention also concerns an apparatus made of a material with Shore hardness higher than 60 enabling to transmit mechanical sound vibrations by having its leg (3) fixed to a piano (7). The method and apparatus constitute an improvement for the field of sound reproduction and generation.

Description

OPEN HOLE VOLUME ACOUSTIC RESONATOR -The creation of sounds by musical instruments or sound reproduction systems is not perfect, acoustic dissonances or sound insufficiencies inherent in the creation of sound generators can be corrected, for a sound total, full. -The present process uses the sound characteristics of an open volume such as an earthen vase or a glass, possibly fitted with at least one cut, a fragmentation, creating an orifice which can be off-center with respect to the virtual main axis of the object. . This object, excited by the proximity or placed on a sound generator, gives off additional sound waves in agreement with the sound generator by mechanical coupling or by resonance of the air waves due to the volume and the fragmentation of the fixed resonator in a defined location. . The overall sound quality is richer and more precise. A large vase, with the orifice at its base, by resonance of the volume, can modify the acoustics of a listening room. The present process is a fixed acoustic resonator which improves the creations of sound, of a generator. sound, or balances the tonal aspect of a room. The present process is carried out by a quartz apparatus, in the form of a glass (1) which is cut (2) near its base as shown (Fig. 1). In this nonlimiting example of embodiment of the method, the addition of a hollow foot (3) allows the air to circulate from the interior of the volume (4) to the end of the foot (5). air in sound vibration by the resonator thus constituted are useful. the ones independent of the others thus adding to the sound qualities of the instrument. Materials with a hardness greater than 60 Shore hardness are used to make the device. The shapes can be (Fig. 2) homogeneous, but not symmetrical.
