Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for implanting a microphone and at least one first pressure compensating member in a watch phone dressed in a case, this microphone being capped with a membrane waterproof and this first pressure compensating member comprising a patch hydrophobic, said membrane and said pellet being in direct communication with the outside of the watch.
- this document describes a deformable membrane covering a microphone.
- This membrane separates the microphone from a formed entry cavity in the watch case, this cavity being in direct communication with the outside of the watch.
- the deformation of the membrane is however limited, on the microphone side, by an organ Support. Out of the liquid, the membrane is mounted so that it can vibrate freely under the action of the sound energy to be received by the microphone. So we have solved the problem of waterproofing the microphone underwater while ensuring sound good operation in the open air.
- the cited document also describes a hydrophobic tablet making up the essential a first pressure compensating member between the outside and the inside of the watch.
- This tablet must of course be impermeable to liquids, for example when the watch is submerged.
- This pellet must still be gas permeable whose pressure varies slowly, to isolate the air in front of the earpiece (described in document EP-A-0 899 635) of the air located behind this earphone and thus avoid an acoustic short circuit resulting in poor performance of this transducer.
- this tablet constitutes a low-pass filter which does not leave pass only variations in pressure of gases such as air, of very low frequency, typically 1/10 Hz and less.
- the tablet can be made for example in sintered Teflon (registered trademark) or in ceramic.
- This second organ is composed essentially a tablet similar to that described in the paragraph above.
- this patch makes it possible in particular to acoustically isolate the earpiece microphone since it only lets air through which the pressure varies slowly and thus avoids the Larsen effect mentioned above.
- the quality hydrophobic of the tablet is not used since the latter is not in contact with a liquid medium.
- the device for implanting the microphone and the first organ pressure compensator consists in placing said microphone and said member compensator in close proximity to each other, their membrane and pad respective giving at least partially on a single room leading to the outside of the phone watch through a long opening in the housing.
- Another object of the present invention is a method of cleaning the chamber defined in the paragraph above, this method consisting in injecting by the opening of said chamber a liquid capable of ridding it of impurities from outside, especially those that may have settled on said membrane and said patch and which would affect their proper functioning.
- Figure 1 shows the interesting part of the invention. It is a portion of a phone watch 3 comprising a case 4 housing all the components necessary for the operation of the watch and the phone.
- Figure 1 shows the case back 4 of this case, a crown 20 for setting the time, a pusher 21, a groove 22 in which is housed a gasket 23 ensuring the tightness with respect to a telescope 24 (see Figures 2 and 3) and a compartment 25 capable of receiving a SIM card allowing access to a mobile communications system.
- FIG. 1 shows a microphone 1, this microphone being capped with a waterproof membrane 5.
- Figure 3 shows that the membrane 5 is in direct communication with the outside of the telephone watch 3.
- Figures 1 and 4 show for their part at least a first pressure compensating member 2, this organ comprising a hydrophobic pellet 6 which will be discussed later.
- the pad 6 is also in direct communication with the outside of the watch phone as seen in Figure 4.
- the present invention is remarkable first of all by the fact that the microphone 1 and the pressure compensator 2 are located nearby immediate from each other.
- Figures 1 and 5 clearly show this fact.
- the present invention is then remarkable by the fact that the membrane 5 covering the microphone 1 and the patch 6 equipping the pressure compensating member 2 at least partially overlook a single chamber 7 which leads to the outside of the watch-phone through a long opening 8 made in the housing 4.
- Figures 1 and 5 reflect this arrangement.
- the chamber 7 is shown in plan. It is materialized by the broken line 26 which delimits the bottom of the chamber and by the front face of the case back 4, referenced 27. It can be seen in FIG. 1 that membrane 5 and patch 6 give only partially on room 7. Note however that this discovery could be larger and be extended to the entire surface of the membrane and the patch.
- the long opening 8 facing the outside is delimited in Figure 1 by the first end of the broken line 26 located at the top of the figure and by the second end of this same line located at the bottom of the figure.
- the chamber 7 is a section along the line V-V in FIG. 1.
- the membrane 5 and the patch 6 lead to a single chamber 7 which serves as a common room in contact with the outside through the opening 8.
- the opening 8 has a slot well shown in Figure 2 which is a side view along arrow II shown in FIG. 1.
- This slot has elongated edges, ie a lower edge 9 and an upper edge 10 (see also FIG. 5).
- this slot is quite long, we considered it useful, to avoid sagging of the bottom, to connect edges 9 and 10 with a reinforcement rib 11, this rib being located substantially in the middle of the slot. This rib 11 is visible and referenced in all the figures.
- the first pressure compensating member 2 visible in Figures 1, 4 and 5 has a so-called hydrophobic pellet 6, that is to say waterproof. It guarantees therefore the watertightness of the watch to liquids.
- This patch 6 is on the other hand permeable gases whose pressure varies slowly. The reason for his presence and his has been explained in the preamble to this description, and it is not therefore no need to recall these concepts here.
- the membrane 5 covering the microphone 1 defines with said microphone a space 12 in communication with a second member 13 pressure compensator, this communication being via a channel 30.
- the reason for the presence of this second organ 13 has been explained in the preamble to this description.
- the member 13 therefore includes a gas-permeable pellet 14 of which the pressure varies slowly to avoid any feedback effect between the earpiece and the microphone internally.
