Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé qui, à l'emplacement d'un récepteur vidéo, permet de sélectionner un canal de programme vidéo voulu parmi différents canaux de programmes vidéo (10). Les étapes du procédé sont les suivantes: pour chaque canal de programme, établissement automatique de données d'indexation (110) correspondant au moins à un attribut prédéterminé sur la base du contenu du programme vidéo pour le canal considéré; spécification d'au moins un attribut correspondant à un contenu de programme voulu (par exemple, titre de programme ou occurrence d'un événement donné dans un programme); et, à partir des données d'indexation, identification d'un canal de programme concordant avec l'attribut spécifié. De préférence, les données d'indexation (115) sont établies en un point distant, puis codées et transmises sur un canal d'indexation distinct pour tous les canaux de programmes, et enfin reçues et décodées à l'emplacement du récepteur, sachant que l'attribut correspondant au programme voulu est spécifié à l'emplacement du récepteur.
