- Operating points are set by the basic current of the transistor, so that the operating point 311 at a temperature of -60 ° C is at the limit of the saturation zone of the transistor 250. Other operating points, corresponding at higher temperatures, are in areas of high saturation of the transistor.
- Part B of FIG. 6 shows the evolution of the emitter-collector voltage (V EC ) of transistor 250 as a function of temperature.
- the scale of the voltages of the part B is identical to that of the part A and the voltages corresponding to the points of operation 311, 312 and 313 are reported there.
- Part B of Figure 6 allows to put highlight the non-linear evolution of the voltage at terminals of transistor 250 as a function of temperature, for a constant current in first approximation.
- This non-linear evolution is set profit, thanks to the invention to correct the defect of second-order linearity (that is, the second order of development in temperature) of the generator of reference voltage 210.

Description
A generator having a voltage substantially linear, and in particular constant with the temperature. Such a generator takes advantage of a temperature dependence of the existing voltage at bounds of one or more junctions of semiconductors. The name band-gap comes from because this voltage is a function of the width of the band-gap of the semiconductor (s).

Just like band-gap generators ", The device of the invention finds applications in the fields of microelectronics and integrated electronics. For example, the device of the invention can be used as setpoint voltage generator for a converter analog-digital or for supervisory systems supply voltage and batteries.
Reference voltage generators and in particular band-gap generators are not usually not able to charge currents strong. Also, are these generators often associated to an amplifier, from. way to form a device able to provide a higher voltage current constant.
Un tel dispositif est illustré schématiquement par la figure 1.Such a device is illustrated schematically in Figure 1.
Sur ce schéma, la référence 10 désigne un
générateur de tension de référence de type « band-gap

Toutefois, on observe
This behavior is illustrated in FIG. 2 which indicates, on an arbitrary scale, the value of the voltage V REF , in ordinate, as a function of the temperature, plotted on the abscissa.
It can be observed that the behavior in bell is manifested in particular by an inflection negative of the voltage curve for temperatures low. Such an inflection also occurs for high temperatures.
Figure 2 also shows the value of the output voltage V OUT of the complete device. This reproduces, with a translation, the bell behavior of the voltage V REF . This behavior of the output voltage V OUT can be explained by the identical evolution with the temperature of the first and second resistors which have substantially the same temperature coefficients. In other words, the ratio R 2 / R 1 in equation (1) remains constant whatever the temperature.
The lack of linearity of the second order of the reference voltage generator (V REF ) and the output voltage (V OUT ) of the complete voltage generator device is finally passed on to the devices which are equipped with such a device, and which are likely to operate, not only at ambient temperatures, but also in a low temperature range.
The object of the invention is to propose a voltage generator device for which the fault linearity of the second order mentioned above is corrected, especially at low temperatures.
- a reference voltage generator presenting in a low temperature range a second order linearity defect,
- an amplifier connected between the reference voltage generator and an output terminal,
- a voltage divider connected to the output terminal and connected to an input of the amplifier for supplying the amplifier with a feedback voltage.
The divisor of voltage comprises at least a first resistance in series with an element exhibiting, at least in the range of low temperatures, an impedance with a temperature dependence behavior different from that of the first resistance, so as to provide a lower feedback in said range of low temperatures, and a stronger feedback outside said range.
The serial element with the first resistance may be a passive element, such as example, a second resistor presenting a temperature coefficient different from that of the first resistance.
Alternatively, the divisor of voltage may also include at least one active element whose characteristic with the temperature is different from that of resistance.
Thanks to these characteristics the divider of voltage produces a feedback voltage that varies with the temperature and which allows to correct partially or totally the behavior in "Bell" of the reference generator.
The value of the first resistance of the divisor, as well as the characteristics of the reference voltage generator can be adjusted from such as to obtain an optimal correction.
In particular, the slope, and therefore the term of the first order of temperature dependence of the reference voltage delivered by the generator of reference voltage, can be adjusted to such way that the reference voltage is constant with temperature, linearity errors of the second and third orders close.
The first resistance of the divider voltage can present a value that is adjusted in function of the second-order fault of the generator of reference voltage, so as to obtain at the terminal of output, a quasi-constant voltage with the temperature (only the third order remains).
According to a particular embodiment of device, in which the element in series with the first resistance is active, this may include one or more bipolar transistors. The transistors are then connected in series with the first resistance of the voltage divider by the collector and transmitter terminals. They are by elsewhere polarized to operate in saturated mode for temperatures greater than or equal to temperatures in the low temperature range.
Although the active element may have several transistors in chain or in parallel, the following description refers, for reasons of simplification, to only one of these transistors.
The non-linear temperature character of the bipolar transistor, put to use in the case of the realization mentioned above, is due to the fact that bipolar transistor fed to collector current constant has a higher saturation when its operating temperature is higher.
Ideally, the transistor can be polarized so as to be at the limit of the regime of saturation in the low temperature range, and way to be highly saturated when the temperature is above the low temperature range.
The low temperature range considered is, for example, between -60 ° C and + 25 ° C. Other temperature ranges can be taken in account by correspondingly modifying the polarization of the transistor.
The polarization of the bipolar transistor can use, for example, a power source, which is connected to its base and which fixes its point of operation.
When multiple transistors are used as a non-linear element, the basics of the set of these transistors can be driven by the source of current.
Other features and benefits of the invention will emerge from the description which will follow with reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings. This description is given purely illustrative.
Figure 3 shows in a simplified way the main elements of a device generating constant voltage according to the invention.
In this figure, identical parts, similar or equivalent to those in Figure 1 have the same references to which we have added 100.
The detailed description of these parts is not repeated here, but it is possible to refer to the above description in relation to Figure 1.
It can be seen that the
est notée VX.In the rest of the text the impedance of the
En considérant que l'amplificateur 126 est
un amplificateur opérationnel idéal, on peut noter :
Cette expression est à rapprocher de l'équation (1) donnée en référence à la figure 1.This expression is to be compared with the equation (1) given with reference to FIG.
However, it should be noted that, contrary to the ratio R 2 / R 1 of equation (1), which remains constant, the ratio R X / R 1 varies with temperature because of the difference in temperature dependence behaviors. .
In particular the value R X decreases less rapidly than the value R 1 when the temperature decreases. The voltage V X , provided by the elements R X and R 1 against reaction tends to decrease less rapidly when the temperature decreases, and in particular in a low temperature range, as will appear later in the description.
trouvé de VX).This contribution of the counter-reaction in the temperature behavior makes it possible to compensate at least in part for the linearity defect of the

par un trait plein.FIG. 4 indicates in arbitrary scale, and as a function of temperature, the output voltage V OUT delivered by the device of FIG. 3 at its
For comparison, the voltage of output delivered by a device according to the figure 1 is reported in broken lines.
It can be seen that the device for the invention makes it possible to maintain a voltage substantially constant in a temperature range low, correcting for these temperatures the "bell-shaped" behavior, highlighted in the figure 2.
According to a numerical example, variations of the voltage V OUT for a temperature excursion between -40 ° C. and 85 ° C. is of the order of 3 mV with a device of the prior art according to FIG. V OUT can be limited to 1.5 mV with the device of the invention according to Figure 3, for the same nominal value of the output voltage.
Figure 5 described below corresponds to a particular embodiment of the device of the figure 3, in which a non-linear element is formed for essentially by a pnp type bipolar transistor.
In this figure, equivalent elements to those in Figure 3 have the same references to which we added another 100.

tension 212, les résistances 213, 214, 215 et le
transistor 211 forment un générateur de type "band-gap". The assembly formed by the generator of
base-émetteur du transistor d'entrée 211.In this expression V BE211 is the base-emitter voltage of the
dépend des valeurs de ΔVBE, RA, RB et RC.The voltage V REF is therefore entirely defined by the bias of the
ajustable 215. Le comportement est sensiblement
linéaire, aux défauts de linéarité près (« en
cloche »).The temperature behavior of V REF can be modified by adjusting the R C value of the
222. The emitter of the
En agissant sur la valeur de Rc et sur la valeur de la résistance 232, il est possible de compenser, c'est-à-dire sensiblement annuler les premier et deuxième termes d'un développement en température de la tension de sortie VOUT.By acting on the value of Rc and on the value of the resistor 232, it is possible to compensate, that is to say substantially cancel the first and second terms of a development in temperature of the output voltage V OUT .
saturé.A
The non-linear nature of the voltage V CE of the transistor is illustrated by the parts A and B of FIG. 6, described hereinafter.
Part A indicates on the ordinate the values of the collector current of the
Three
Operating points are set by
the basic current of the transistor, so that the
Part B of FIG. 6 shows the evolution of the emitter-collector voltage (V EC ) of
Part B of Figure 6 allows to put

tension de référence 210.This non-linear evolution is set

second-order linearity (that is, the second
order of development in temperature) of the generator of
This correction can be finely adjusted by modifying the values R 1 and R C of the first resistor in the voltage divider and in the reference voltage generator.
