Abstract

Die Verwendung des RDS als Zusatzdatenkanal ist bisher auf UKW-FM-Sender beschränkt. Die Erfindung löst das technische Problem des Einsatzes auch bei AM-Sendern im Bereich LMK
Die zu übertragenen Daten werden als Ausgangssignal eines RDS-Koders über einen HP/TP Filter geführt und als Modulation eines ESB-Modulators verwendet, und das resultierende Sendeband wird wahlweise als unteres oder oberes Seitenband eines Rundfunksenders mit Trägerunterdrückung abgestrahlt, wobei das nicht benutzte Seitenband dasjenige ist, das bestandsmäßig für die vorhandene Audiomodulation des Senders verwendet wird.
Sendeseitig wird die Trägerleistung eingespart. Zusätzlich kann die Ausstrahlung innerhalb der koordinierten Bandbreite eines Audio-Senders mit Einseitenbandmodulation im anderen Seitenband erfolgen, so daß die vorhandene Frequenzressource genutzt wird und keine eigene Senderinfrastruktur für die Anwendung des Verfahrens erforderlich wird.
