Description

The present invention relates to a light column composed of light elements generally cylindrical, at least one of the elements housing several conductors substantially parallel to the cylinder axis and a support printed circuit light sources such as light emitting diodes.

There are known light signaling devices, or even lamps, using light-emitting diodes divided into several groups arranged according to several planes which are offset along a general axis, the emitting diodes being evenly distributed over a circumference in each plane. Emitting diodes are installed for this on several printed circuits offset along the axis of the device. Such devices are used for signaling purposes, for example road or sea.

In industrial use light columns with superimposed light elements, incandescent lamps are usually used. It would be desirable to use to light emitting diodes.

The object of the invention is to use an arrangement which is well suited to light columns. with superimposed light elements, this arrangement being simple and having nevertheless good luminous efficacy.

According to the invention, the printed circuit is oriented with its main plane parallel to the axis of the cylinder and carries several light-emitting diodes on each face.

Despite the two-sided arrangement of the emitting diodes, the luminous efficiency of the column is excellent, especially when the body of the light element has diffusing elements such as axial internal grooves whose shape and step or the mutual spacing are predetermined.

The printed circuit can be arranged diametrically in the element, with side plates or flanges comprising one of the individual interconnection conductors and the other a common conductor for the different elements. The printed circuit can also be housed in a sealed bulb
The description will be made below of a non-limiting embodiment of the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 shows schematically in axial section a light element according to the invention.

Figure 2 illustrates the light element whose cover has been removed.

Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view of the clean electrical sub-assembly to the light element.

Figure 4 shows in perspective an alternative embodiment of the invention.

The light element illustrated in the figures is a signal element specific to a light column. Such a column is composed of several elements - or verrines - superimposed to provide light emission of colors different and which must be visible from all sides in order to signal the state of a machine, execution process, etc.

The light element comprises a cylindrical body 10 of colored plastic material translucent. The body 10 is of revolution around an axis X; it is smooth on the outside and it is grooved inside by a network of diffusing reliefs, more particularly of axial grooves 11 whose shape and pitch are predetermined so as to obtain optimal illumination over the entire periphery of the element. The body 10 presents to its lower part and at its upper part means 12 for assembly to a base or to the body of a neighboring element and it is closed at its upper part by a cover 13 provided with openings 14 allowing the electrical interconnection with a element superimposed on it.

The light emission specific to the light element is ensured by several diodes electroluminescent 20 implanted laterally on the two faces 21a, 21b of a printed circuit 21. The printed circuit 21 is arranged parallel to the axis of symmetry X of the light element, preferably being diametric, that is to say centered on this axis. The diodes 20 are for example eight in number, located back to back and divided into two groups of four on each side. Each group is subdivided in subgroups 20-1,20-2 of two diodes 20 offset axially by a distance h.

Lateral to the printed circuit 21 are provided two plates 23, 24, one of which insulates and encloses the individual supply conductors 25 in isolation various superimposed light elements and the other a conductor 26 common to various light elements. The conductor 25 assigned to the light element and the conductor common 26 are connected laterally to the printed circuit to ensure the supply of diode groups 20. It should be observed that the printed circuit 21 and the plates 23, 24 are located in the same diametral plane P and are assembled to constitute a sub-assembly capable of being introduced as a whole in the body. The plates are formed by assembling half-plates 23a, 23b and 24a, 24b (Figure 3) in order to isolate the conductors and are joined together by a support structure 27 in the form of a disc or crown which fits into the body 10 of the element and contributes both to the mounting of the sub-assembly in the body and the rigidity of the element.

L'ampoule 30 est de forme générale cylindrique d'axe orienté selon l'axe X de l'élément lumineux et parallèlement aux rainures intérieures 11 du corps 10.As a variant, the printed circuit 21 with emissive diodes 20 can be arranged in a biface in a closed bulb 30 mounted by screw or bayonet and forming, with the supports 23.24 interconnection conductors, a sub-assembly housed in the body 10 of the element. The bulb 30 is of generally cylindrical shape with an oriented axis along the axis X of the light element and parallel to the internal grooves 11 of the body 10.
