Abstract

Extra protection for a strong box (1) that has in the normal way a blind door (2). The extra protection is a transverse bar that is hinged at one end and when closed can be locked at the other end. A second bar (12) integral with the first bar extends vertically to prevent access to any of the safety deposit drawers (4). An upper drawer (6) for collecting rejects such as cards, uncollected cash is not covered by the vertical bar.

Description

The object of the present invention is a device intended to protect against the intrusion of drawers or other enclosures containing valuables, contained in a safe or similar.

In automatic devices (so-called ATM, Bancomat and the like) for the distribution of paper money, inside a safe drawers are installed containing the banknotes to be distributed, as well as devices which, under adequate control, collect banknotes of these drawers and deliver them to users. These drawers are protected by an armored door and therefore, normally, it is not possible to access the drawers otherwise by authorized agents.

However we know different ways to open an armored door, to detach it from the safe or in any case to rape it, so that you can access the cash drawers. In this case, usually, a signal alarm is issued as a consequence of the violation but the time which inevitably elapses before an intervention can take place authorizes take the banknotes in the drawers, which are now defenseless.

What has been said above in relation to switchgear automatic paper money applies in a similar way to others cases of drawers or the like that contain values and are enclosed in a safe or similar.

The main purpose of the present invention is therefore to produce a device which is capable of securing to drawers or the like containing valuables and contained in a safe or similar, further protection, even after the armored door that normally protects them has been raped. Another object of the invention is to produce such a device which must not not introduce appreciable difficulties in maintenance operations normal safe or similar. Another object of the invention is to realize such a device which must be substantially simple and must not introduce a significant increase in costs.

The subject of the invention is therefore a protection device intended to be applied in a safe or similar behind its usual armored door and in front of drawers or the like containing valuables, characterized in that it consists of a first cross bar, pivoted at its first end to the structure of the safe or the like and movable between a position of protection and an access position, in a lock mounted close to the second end of said first bar, opposite said first end pivoted, and arranged to prevent the displacement of said first bar from the protective position to the access position, and in a second bar arranged at an angle to said first bar and integral thereof, extending in front of any drawers or the like which must be protected, at a short distance from them, so as to prevent their opening, even the armored door being open, when said first bar is in its protective position.

Preferably, said lock is mounted on said second end and it cooperates with a counter-lock mounted on the structure of the safe or similar.

Preferably, said second bar is perpendicular relative to at said first bar.

Preferably, said first bar is pivoted so that it can be moved, in its access position, outside the safe, so that be completely outside the displacement trajectory either drawers or the like as appliances in the safe that must be able to be taken away or moved for maintenance purposes.

It is appropriate that the pivot point of said first bar is located on the opposite side from where the armored door of the safe is pivoted or similar.

Figure 1 shows an apparatus known for the distribution of banknotes, open, partially sectioned and with the interior devices moved, and it is intended to show an example of the possible applications of the invention.

Figure 2 shows schematically, in front view, a safe space comprising drawers, some of which must be protected, and the device of the invention applied to the protection of these drawers.

Figure 3 shows in plan, partially sectioned, the safe including in Figure 2 with the device of the invention.

Referring to Figure 1, an apparatus for the distribution of banknotes usually has a safe structure 1 with its armored door 2 pivoted to one side of the safe, and with an upper enclosure 3 containing functional monitoring devices. Number of drawers 4 contain the papers to be distributed, and they cooperate with devices 5 for picking up and transporting banknotes. A drawer 6 can be used to hold cards, un accepted money and more waste. All these parts are installed on rails 7 which allow the travel for maintenance operations.

Under normal conditions, all of the drawers 4 are enclosed in the safe 1 and the armored door 2, closed, protects them. However, if in any way the armored door 2 is opened, carried away or violated, there is nothing to prevent access to drawers 4 and to empty them. Of course, the violation of gate 2 will result in a signal being issued alarm, but the emptying of drawers 4, which nothing prevents, can be carried out in a short time, before any intervention following the alarm may have taken place. The invention is intended to remedy this drawback.

The protective device according to the invention is shown in a way schematic in Figures 2 and 3. It includes a first bar 8 of adequate strength, which is pivoted by a first end, in 9, to structure 1 of the safe, preferably on the opposite side instead of 2 ° pivoting of the armored door 2. A lock 10 is arranged adjacent to the second end of the bar 8, opposite the pivot point 9, to allow to block the bar 8 in a protective position, namely the position represented by solid lines in the figures. The lock 10 can be mounted on the structure 1 of the safe and cooperate with the second end of the bar 8, but preferably, as shown, the lock 10 is mounted in the second end of the bar 8 and it cooperates with a counter lock 11 applied to the structure 1 of the safe.

A second bar 12, also of adequate strength, is integral of the first bar 8 and forms an angle with it, so è extend in front of all drawers 4 which must be protected. The two bars 8 and 12 can be interconnected in any suitable way, or else they can be a unique piece. Preferably, the second bar 12 extends in the perpendicular direction of the first bar 8, in a parallel plane of the plan of the closed armored door 2.

As can be seen in Figure 3, bars 8 and 12, when they are in their protective position represented by lines in solid lines, are arranged in the space existing between the armored door 2 and the front wall of the drawers 4, at a short distance from the latter, so as to prevent its opening. On the other hand, whoever is in possession of the key or code that authorizes the opening of lock 10 can rotate bars 8 and 12 with lock 10 following a path Il, up to a access position 8 ', 12', 10 ', represented by mixed lines, after the armored door 2 has been moved to its open position 2 'shown by mixed lines, by rotating it along a path I. In this condition the drawers 4 are freely accessible for any operation to carry on them, and furthermore the indoor devices can be moved or carried away for any maintenance operation, without encountering any obstacle.

In the event of an attempted break-in, after the armored door 2 was violated anyway, and that access to the interior of the safe was thus made possible, drawers 4 containing the values cannot yet be open because they are prevented by the device of the invention. Of course, also this device, and for him the lock 10, can be violated at turn, but it inevitably takes a while, which makes possible intervention produced by the alarm triggered by the violation of the armored door 2.

The device according to the invention, despite its substantial simplicity, opposes therefore a serious obstacle to anyone seeking to illegally take away the values contained in the drawers.

Although the invention has been described in its application to an apparatus for automatic distribution of values, it should be understood that the device which constitutes its object can find use in many applications having similar requirements, i.e., in general, where drawers or other enclosures containing values are normally protected by an armored door but they would remain defenseless, in the absence of the device according to the invention, as a consequence of the violation of the door.

A particular application of the invention is also that which tends to to introduce, in a simple way, a protection for drawers or other enclosures containing securities, contained in a cabinet or the like, of which the door is not armored, or is insufficiently armored reliable.

It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and illustrated as an example. Several modifications are to the scope of project authors; for example, the installation of movable bars and their lock can be made in many different ways from that shown, and the lock, instead of being opened by a key or code, can be opened by a time device or by a remote control.

These and other modifications, as well as any replacement of means technically equivalent, can be carried out without departing from the field of appended claims.

Claims (8)

Protective device intended to be applied in a safe (1), cabinet or similar behind its normal door (2), possibly shielded, and in front of drawers (4) or other enclosures containing values, characterized in that it consists of a first transverse bar (8), pivoted at its first end (9) to the structure (1) of the safe or similar and movable between a protective position and an access position, in a lock (10) capable of preventing the displacement of said first bar (8) from the protective position to the access position, and in a second bar (12) disposed at an angle to said first bar (8) and integral thereof, extending in front of all the drawers (4) or the like which must be protected, at a short distance from them, so as to prevent their opening, even the door (2) being open, when said first bar (8) is is in its protective position. Protection device according to claim 1, characterized in that said lock (10) is mounted near the second end of said first bar (8), opposite said first pivoted end (9). Protection device according to claim 2, characterized in that said lock (10) is mounted on said second end of the first bar (8) and it cooperates with a counter-lock (11) mounted on the structure (1) of the safe or the like. Protection device according to claim 1, characterized in that said second bar (12) is perpendicular to said first bar (8). Protection device according to claim 1, characterized in that said first bar (8) is pivoted so that it can be moved, in its access position, outside the safe (1) or the like, so that be completely outside the displacement trajectory either drawers (4) or the like as appliances (5) contained in the safe (1) or similar and which must be capable of being taken away or moved for purposes maintenance. Protection device according to claim 1, characterized in that the place (9) of pivoting of said first bar (8) is on the side opposite the pivot point (2 °) of the door (2) possibly shielded from safe (1) or similar.
