Description

The invention initially relates to an insulation displacement contact, for example for terminal blocks, which has a slotted, resilient contact region as a contacting slot on a connection bracket. Such insulation displacement contacts are known ( EP-B1-0 459 144 ). It is known to provide knife-like shaped areas for cutting the insulation of a line to be connected. In a subsequent slot area then contacting the line core. In order to increase the suspension properties, it is also known to comprise and reinforce a contacting slot by an outer spring clip ( DE-C1-197 32 182 , corresponding EP-A2-0 893 845 ).

From the DE 19 42 643 A is a clamping element for solderless connection of insulated electrical conductors with slots formed by slots, which penetrate the insulation of the conductor during its insertion known. The clamping element has two strips which are connected to each other mechanically, for example by a welded connection. The strips have different functions. The first strip has a clamping slot which is designed to sever the insulation of the conductor to be inserted. In this case, the first strip to improve the contact properties of the clamping element on a good electrical conductivity but poorer spring properties exhibiting material. The second strip has no knife area, as this has to fulfill only the function of a strain relief and as a supporting part. Thus, the second strip has a material with good elastic properties but poorer electrical conductivity. A disadvantage is the separation of the insulation of a conductor, since this depends only on the blade area of a strip.

From the DE 28 42 301 A is a clamping element for soldering and stripping free connection of electrical conductors known. The clamping element has inter alia two metal strips, which are formed of different materials. The material of the first strip has good spring properties while the material of the second strip has good electrical conductivity. The first strip has the shape of a U-shaped bracket, while the second strip has a bent tongue. Between the inner sides of the legs of the U-shaped bracket and the outer sides of the bent tongue arise when joining the two strips two clamping slots, which are suitable for stripping and solderless connection of electrical conductors. The disadvantage here is that only one blade area is provided, which is formed by the interaction of the two strips.

The invention has for its object to improve a insulation displacement contact of the type described so that it can be made particularly narrow in its installation level and that ensures a particularly safe exposure of the electrically conductive soul of a conductor.

The solution of the described object is achieved by an insulation displacement contact according to claim 1. Here, the connection bracket is formed layered at least in the region of the contacting slot. The layers can be designed differently and favorably matched to electrical conductivity, mechanical cutting edge strength and suspension properties. Such an insulation displacement contact requires no external springs, so that it can be made very narrow in its installation level. The individual layers can be optimally matched to the respective requirements in terms of number and specialization. The layers have frontal blade portions, wherein the blade portion of a first layer is disposed opposite to the blade portion of a second layer.

The layers of the connecting bracket may consist of individual elements which are mechanically connected to each other. This can be done by crimping, gluing or riveting or by other suitable techniques.

The insulation displacement contact can form a Kontaktierungsschlitz in its layered connection bracket, which is configured on the input side to two adjacent knives. According to a development, the legs of the contacting slot can be arched toward one another to counteract a spreading apart of the leg ends when introducing a thicker line.

A connection terminal can be constructed with at least one insulation displacement contact in one of the described embodiments. The connection terminal can also be designed as a terminal block.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing:

In the drawing, an insulation displacement contact is reproduced, on the connecting bracket 1, two slotted, resilient contact areas are formed as Kontaktierungsschlitze 2.3. The connecting bracket 1 is formed layered at least in the region of a Kontaktierungsschlitzes 2 and 3 respectively. The layers 4, 5 are differently matched to electrical conductivity, mechanical cutting edge strength and suspension properties. Thus, in the exemplary embodiment, the layer 4 is tuned to cutting edge strength and to suspension properties. The layer 5 is tuned to good electrically conductive property. The layer 4 forms a blade portion 6 made of hard material, through which the insulation of a line to be inserted can be easily cut. In a subsequent blade region 7 of the electrically highly conductive layer 5, the insulation of a line to be inserted can be forced apart and make contact with the core the line are made. The subsequent slot area can be made blunt and broad to the soul and give good contact. The knife area 6 of the layer 4 can, as in the exemplary embodiment, advantageously be set back against the knife area 7 of the layer 5 in the slot, so that the line core is protected from the sharp knives 6 of the layer 4. Understandably, several layers can be used.

7.The layers 4, 5 of the connecting bracket 1 may consist of individual elements which are mechanically connected to one another. In the embodiment, this connection brackets 8 are provided. The individual elements can generally be connected by beading. The individual elements can also be connected in other joining techniques, for example by gluing or riveting. In the exemplary embodiment, the layered connection bracket 1 forms a contacting slot 2 or 3, each having a knife slot formed on the input side between opposing blade areas 6 and 7, respectively.

In the exemplary embodiment, the legs of the contacting slot 2 and 3 are illustrated curved towards each other. By this design, the spreading apart of the leg ends is counteracted in thick lines to be introduced.

A connection terminal can be easily set up with at least one insulation displacement contact according to one of the described embodiments. In particular, the connection terminal can be configured as a terminal block.
