Abstract

Figure 00000001
In digital transmission systems, such as in mobile radio systems, the speech quality essentially depends on the correctibility of the channel decoding method. To improve the voice quality, error masking measures are taken, the effectiveness of which is determined by the accuracy of the quality information of the channel transmission quality. According to the invention, known quality information is combined and transformed such that it is suitable as reliable input parameters for the error masking measures. By taking the bad frame indicator BFI into account when selecting the transformation regulations, different transformation regulations can be adapted to the respective transmission conditions. The method can be easily implemented if a transformation unit (4) is inserted between the channel decoder (1) and the error concealment unit (2) in an upstream channel.
