Abstract

Humidifying installation (1) where liquid is atomised by an ultrasonic device (9) in the airstream (3) which flows through the installation (1). The installation (1) is meant to humidify the air in a space independent of a possible ventilation or heating system. The installation (1) incorporates a mixing channel which is drastic reduced in length where by a combination of filters (15), airstream dividers (6, 8) and swirling plates (12, 13) brings such a blending of liquid mist and airstream about that there are no droplets that leave the installation (1).

Description

Humidifier for air with ultrasonic vaporiser.
The invention concerns a humidifying installation where liquid is atomised by an ultrasonic device and thereafter evaporate in the airstream which flows through the installation. The installation is meant to humidify the air in a space independent of the ventilation or heating system.
It is known to humidify air with ultrasonic vaporisers in an airstream.
The course however, in these known installations after the vaporiser is very long, mostly some meters where still exist droplets of water. This is the cause of unnecessary large installations. The long evaporation channel, with a very humid ambience is a breeding ground for algae and germs.
The invention concerns an installation with a drastic in length reduced blending channel without the danger of producing droplets outside the installation and prevents contamination of the blending channel. The invention is provided with a combination of filters, airstream dividers and swirling plates to produce such a blending of air and liquid mist that there will not leave liquid droplets from the installation.
The invention will be described with the help of the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a section in length over the installation. Fig. 2 shows a horizontal section over the installation.
In fig. 1 is with (1) indicated the case of the installation. With (2) are blowers indicated. Arrows (3) give the direction of the air flow. Blowers (2) are mounted in partition (4). Partition (4) is connected airtight with case (1). Before the exhausts (5) of blowers (2) is airstream divider (6) mounted to partition (4). Airstream divider (6) has a cross section in the form of a triangle and foreseen with frontplates (7). Airstream divider (6) is manufactured out of sheet material with over the surface devided holes where the proportion between the collective surface of the holes and the total surface of the sheet is about 1 : 2.
After the airstream dividers (6) in the airstream in case (1) is a divider partition (8) mounted, perpendicular to the direction of the airstream and sealed in case (1). Divider partition (8) is manufactured from sheet material with a pattern of holes where the proportion between the collective surface of the holes and the total surface of the sheet is 1 : 2. After divider partition (8) is placed the ultrasonic vaporiser (9) in the airstream. The exhaust openings for the liquid mist (10) are in the centre of case (1).
Case (1) is in the majority of the cases slightly higher than the diameter of blowers (2). The installations are executed with 1, 2 or more blowers which are placed side by side. In the case of a multitude of blowers (2) case (1) has a rectangular cross section. Against the upper side of case (11) are swirling plates (12, 13) mounted which have a effective width of about 20 to 40 % of the height of case (1). Swirling plate (12) reaches over the whole width of case (1) and with an angle of about 30 degrees. Swirling plate (12) is pivoted mounted to case (1) and seen in the direction of the airstream placed somewhat after vaporiser (9). Swirling plate (13) is placed about halfway between divider partition (8) and the end of case (1) against the upperside of case (1) . Swirling plate (13) is also pivoting and has a larger width than swirling plate (12).
An executed example indicates for swirling plate (12) a width of 130 millimeters and an angle of 35 degrees to case (1), while swirling plate (13) is 175 millimeters wide and at a distance of 300 millimeters from swirling plate (12). The angle to case (1) is 30 degrees. By adjusting the angle is the optimum attainable. In this example case (1) is 2150 millimeters long and 500 millimeters high at a width of 1185 millimeters and having two blowers (2). The course where the liquid evaporates is then about 940 millimeters long.
The intake opening (14) is provided with a filter (15) to protect o blowers (2) against dust and dirt. The installation is placed as a unit in the to be humidifyed space and takes air in from the space to humidify this.
