Definitions
- the invention relates to an oil pump for lubrication of an internal combustion engine.
- the invention relates more particularly to a pump external gear oil with variable displacement.
- the displacement of an oil pump is determined and measured under standard operating conditions of the engine.
- the oil pump provides a oil flow proportional to engine speed.
- the pump imposes a high oil delivery rate, which may cause cause too high a pressure in the lubrication.
- the flow and pressure of the oil discharged by the pump are generally oversized compared to engine requirements under normal conditions so ensure good engine lubrication in extreme conditions where the engine speed is high, or when the lubricating oil is cold and therefore more viscous.
- this oversized flow presents the disadvantage of unnecessarily increasing the power consumed by the pump.
- Document DE4134219 describes an oil pump for a lubrication circuit an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1, comprising a housing comprising a suction port and a discharge port opening into an internal recess in which a pinion is arranged leading integral in rotation with a control shaft and a driven pinion mounted on a driven shaft, the pinions being and able to mesh with each other to transfer oil from the suction port to the discharge port, the pump includes minus a second pair of driving and driven pinions meshing with each other, mounted respectively on the control and driven shafts, and means for maneuver capable of separating or making the second pinion rotatable drive and the drive shaft, depending on the discharge pressure of the pump, where the second driving gear is mounted to rotate freely on the shaft control, the operating means comprising a movable key, means return biasing the key in a rotational fastening position of the second pinion driving with the drive shaft, a feed hole being formed in the body of the housing and in the control shaft, to set relation of the oil
- the key is slidably mounted on the end of the drive shaft carrying the driving pinions in one direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tree.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a oil pump for the lubrication circuit of a internal combustion, overcoming all or part of the disadvantages of the prior art noted above.
- the oil pump according to the invention is essentially characterized in that the key is radially movable relative to the shaft control in a bore or passage formed in the body of the pinion and is extending into the body of the control shaft, when the pressure of delivery exceeds the determined pressure, the key is moved in its corridor.
- the maneuvering means automatically ensure the rotational separation of the second driving gear and drive shaft when the pump discharge pressure is greater than one determined pressure, and make the rotation integral second pinion leading from the drive shaft when the pump discharge pressure is less than this pressure.
- the second driving pinion is mounted freely in rotation on the control shaft, the means maneuver comprising a key movable radially by relation to the motor shaft in a bore or passage formed in the body of the pinion and extending into the body of the shaft control, return means urging the key in a rotational securing position of the second pinion leading from the drive shaft, a feed hole being formed in the body of the housing and in the pinion and / or in the control tree, to relate the oil driven back with the key so that when the pressure of pump discharge exceeds a determined pressure, the key is moved in its corridor so as to make disconnect in rotation the second driving pinion and the shaft of ordered.
- the supply drilling is formed in a wall of the pump housing and extends longitudinally in the body of the control shaft for lead into the keyway, the return means being made up of a compression spring supported by a of its ends on the bottom of the corridor provided for the key and by its other end on the key.
- the driving pinions are mounted side by side on the control shaft, drilling oil supply opening into a radial groove formed on the control shaft and in the body of one to less drive gables, at the side faces adjacent of the two driving pinions, to spare a film oil between them and prevent entrainment in rotation of the second pinion leading through the first pinion leading when the second pinion is disengaged in rotation of the control shaft.
- the invention relates to a gear oil pump. intended for supplying the lubrication circuit of a internal combustion engine.
- the pump conventionally comprises a housing 1 comprising a suction port and a discharge port opening into an interior recess in which are arranged a driving pinion 2 and a driven pinion 3.
- the pinion leading 2 is integral in rotation with a control shaft 10 or motor shaft rotated from the crankshaft.
- the driven pinion 3 is in turn integral in rotation with a shaft led 11 mounted free in rotation in the housing 1 of the pump.
- the axes of rotation of the pinions driving 2 and driving 3 are parallel and arranged so that the pinions 2, 3 mesh with each other to transfer oil from the orifice suction to the discharge port, i.e. from upstream E downstream S as shown in Figures 1 and 2.
- the pump comprises a second pair pinions driving 4 and driven 5 mounted respectively on the control shafts 10 and led 11. Furthermore, the pump is provided with maneuvering means 6 to 9 suitable for, selectively, to separate or to make rotationally integral the second pinion 4 leading from the control shaft 10, depending on the pump discharge pressure.
- the two driving pinions 2, 4 are mounted side by side on the control shaft 10, the second driving pinion 4 being mounted freely in rotation on this shaft 10.
- the two pinions leds 3, 5 are mounted side by side on the driven shaft 11 of so as to mesh respectively with the two pinions 2, 4 menants.
- the two driven pinions 3, 5 are mounted free in rotation on the driven axis 11.
- the driven pinion 3 which meshes with the first gear 2 driving is linked in rotation with the driven shaft 11, that is to say that the pinions of the first pair of pinions are rigidly linked in rotation with their shaft 10, 11 respective.
- the maneuvering means 6 to 9 comprise a key 8 radially movable relative to the control shaft 10 in a bore or passage formed in the body of the pinion 4 and extending into the body of the control shaft 10.
- a compression spring 9 is arranged at the bottom of the corridor provided for the key 8.
- the compression spring 9 is supported by one of its ends on the bottom of the corridor, inside the second pinion leading 4.
- the other end of the spring 9 is supported on a first end of the key 8.
- a drilling hole 6, 7 intended to put in relation the oil discharged with the second end of the key 8 is formed in a wall of the housing 1 of the pump and extends longitudinally in the body of the control shaft 10 to lead into the keyway 8.
- the stiffness of the spring 9 is determined so that, when the pump discharge pressure is lower at a determined pressure Pmax, the key 8 is in a position in its corridor in which it makes solidarity in rotation of the second driving pinion 4 and the control shaft 10. In other words, the displacement of the pump is ensured by the first pair 2, 3 and the second pair 4, 5 of pinions.
- the value of the pressure Pmax above which the second driving pinion 4 is no longer rotated by the control shaft 10 is easily determined as a function engine operating characteristics and pump.
- a radial groove 12 can be formed on the control shaft 10 at the side faces adjacent two driving gears 2, 4.
- Drilling supply 6, 7 of the oil opens into the radial groove 12 so that part of the oil that passes through the duct supply 6, 7 forms an oil film between the two pinions 2, 4 menants. This oil film thus prevents entrainment in friction rotation of the second pinion 4 by the first pinion 2 when the second pinion 4 is separated in rotation from the control shaft 10.
- the oil pump according to the invention is of a simple structure, because it involves a small number of parts.
- the mechanism for varying the displacement of the pump as a function of the pressure of backflow can be applied to existing pumps, without impose large changes and without increasing their footprint.
- the invention cannot be limited to the example described above. So other modes of realization within the reach of the skilled person also enter in the context of the invention.
- the means of operation (movable key, return spring and conduit oil supply) of the different drive gears can be shaped to separate these driving pinions from the tree control at different pressure values of pump discharge. In this way, the oil pump adapts its displacement more finely to the needs of the engine.
- the radial groove designed to provide an oil film between two adjacent drive gables can be formed also on the side faces of the sprocket (s) concerned.
