Abstract

The inner core (6) of the mattress is made of an airtight synthetic material, which is inflated. It is covered with a fleece (23,24) and an outer layer of thin plastic foil (13), leaving a surrounding gap (7). When the foam material (5') is applied to envelop the inflated element, it sticks to the area not covered with the foil (13) before, while all other areas slide freely inside the foam cover (15). The mattress offers a perfect combination of elasticity and support. No elastic bed base is needed.
