Abstract

The sub-assembly has an antenna and position sensors disposed on the same insulated support, this sub-assembly configured such that mutual interference from the combination of antennae and position sensors, are avoided. The sub-assembly comprises antennae (4) and actuators (6.1 to 6.12) mounted on the same insulation support (30). The antennae (4) is linked via connection (42) to the micro transmitter/receiver (5 in fig 3). The actuators are linked via connections (62) to the control unit (7 in fig 3) to permit predetermined information selection. The support (30) is manufactured from dielectric substrate with flexibility to fit the circumference of a wrist watch. The antennae (4) extends over most (but not all) of the support allowing High Frequency (radio) and Low Frequency (actuator) signals to be routed from opposite sides of the watch, thereby reducing interference between the two blocs whilst maintaining thin overall structure.

Description

The present invention relates to a subset comprising an antenna capable of receiving and / or transmitting a electromagnetic field carrying radio messages and position sensors placed on the same support, this sub-assembly being intended to be mounted in a portable device such as a timepiece. The the present invention thus also relates to a part timepiece comprising such a sub-assembly and allowing in particular, a user to compose, perform and receive phone calls.

We know from patent application EP 0 766 152, at name of the Applicant, a timepiece including an antenna capable of picking up and / or emitting a field electromagnetic carrying radio messages. This antenna is formed on a dielectric substrate arranged in a mounting groove defined by the spacing existing between a first and a second housing. This antenna can be carried out independently of the others elements of the timepiece and can furthermore be easily mounted in the timepiece when assembling it.

We also know from patent application EP 0 715 233, also in the name of the Claimant, a document timepieces comprising means for selecting a predetermined digital information. These means of selection are formed by position sensors arranged in angular sectors defined on the periphery of the timepiece, for example, looking at the indications a classic hour display. The sensors position are typically formed of capacitive elements that the user can operate by positioning a finger. Such position sensors are described, by example, in patent CH 623 195.

The antenna and the position sensors form first and second independent blocks respectively both located in a peripheral region of the room of watchmaking. The separation of these two blocks increases, on the one hand, the size of the timepiece. On the other hand, the mounting of the position sensors in the piece also constitutes a relatively operation delicate and complex.

The present invention thus aims to provide a sub-assembly combining an antenna and sensors position on the same support so as to simplify the construction as well as assembly, especially in a timepiece. Furthermore, the present invention has an addition to reduce the size of the device portable, for example a timepiece, in which this sub-assembly is capable of being mounted.

It should be noted, however, that the combination of peripheral blocks formed respectively by the antenna and by the position sensors generates disturbances of the operation of the sub-assembly. Indeed, from the point of view electric, antenna and position sensors constitute respectively a high-frequency block and a low-frequency block that can mutually interfere. The presence of position sensors near the antenna affects the functioning of the latter. Conversely, radiation emanating from the antenna affects the operation of the sensors and their electronic control by coupling.

The combination of the two peripheral blocks constitutes therefore an operation a priori undesirable for the skilled person. The present invention thus also has aim to provide a subset combining so optimal antenna and position sensors on a same support so that the operation respective of these is not disturbed.

To this end, the present invention relates to a sub-assembly intended to be mounted in a device portable allowing the reception and / or the transmission of broadcast messages as well as the selection of a predetermined information, this subset being characterized in that it comprises, arranged on the same insulating support, an antenna comprising an element radiant capable of picking up and / or emitting a field electromagnetic carrying said broadcast messages, and position sensors arranged to allow said selection of predetermined digital information.

The present invention further relates to a part timepieces including a subset as defined above.

An advantage of the present invention thus lies in that the antenna-sensor sub-assembly is independent of other components of the portable device in which it is capable of being mounted. In Consequently, the present invention allows a simplification of construction and, thereby, a greater flexibility during manufacturing. Through elsewhere, this advantage also affects the mounting and assembling the portable device in its whole.

Another advantage of the present invention lies in the fact that the combination of the two blocks devices reduces the size of the portable device in which this subset is likely to be fitted.

Yet another advantage of the present invention is that the arrangement of the antenna and position sensors according to the present invention allows remedy the mutual disturbances caused by the combination of the two peripheral blocks, and make thus optimal operation of the sub-assembly.

Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings given solely by way of example and in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a plan view of a timepiece according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of a subassembly combining, on one face of a support, an antenna, and on the other face of the same support, position sensors according to the present invention;

  • FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the timepiece of FIG. 1.

This timepiece, here in the form of a watch bracelet 1, includes a case 2 and a bracelet 3. The housing 2 further comprises a power source 11 energy and time display organs comprising in particular a clockwork movement 8, a dial 9, and hands 10.

In order to capture an electromagnetic field carrying radio messages, timepiece 1 includes an antenna 4 wound in a peripheral region of the case 2. A micro transceiver 5 is connected to antenna 4 so that it receives or transmits messages using the latter and then transforms these messages in data perceivable by the bearer of the timepiece 1, for example, by emitting signals sound.

For this purpose, the timepiece 1 comprises position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 formed in angular sectors on timepiece 1, and electronic control means 7 of the sensors positions 6.1 to 6.12 arranged inside the housing 2.

In the example illustrated in Figure 1, the sensors of position 6.1 to 6.12 are advantageously placed on a bezel 20 of the timepiece 1. It will be noted, in furthermore, that the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are placed, without limitation, opposite the time indications of a classic time display. It should be noted that another possible variant may consist in positioning the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 no not on the telescope but under a piece of glass of watchmaking.

In Figure 1, the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are respectively placed next to the indications hours 1h to 12h. It should also be noted that this particular provision is in no way limiting. However, the arrangement of these position sensors by compared to antenna 4 must be carried out, as will see below, so as not to disturb the operation of the latter.

The positioning of a finger of a user of the timepiece 1 on one of the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 causes the selection of digital information corresponding. In this case, the dial 9 comprises, by example, indications "1" to "9" and "0" respectively combined with the indications 1h to 9h and 10h from the classic time display, so that the user can dial a call by activating successively the corresponding position sensors 6.10 and 6.1 to 6.9. The functioning of the means of selection and input of digital information will only not described in more detail here. A detailed explanation of the operation of such a device can indeed be found in patent application EP 0 715 233, in the name of the Applicant, already cited in the preamble.

Figure 2 shows an embodiment of a sub-assembly combining the antenna 4 and sensors position 6.1 to 6.12 according to the present invention. The antenna 4 and the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are arranged on the same insulating support 30. This insulating support 30 is preferably flexible in order to facilitate the assembly of antenna 4 and position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 in the timepiece. In this regard, it is suitable to use as an insulating support, a dielectric substrate polyimide about 100 µm thick.

Cet élément est constitué de préférence par un dépôt métallique sur le support isolant 30.The antenna 4 is preferably formed on one face (at the background in FIG. 2) of the insulating support 30. It includes a conductive element in printed circuit defining a radiating element 40 of the antenna 4. This element preferably consists of a deposit metal on the insulating support 30.

The conductive element 40 defines a dipole whose length is preferably about λ / 2, where λ is the working wavelength of the antenna, i.e. the wavelength of the electromagnetic signal used to send and / or receive broadcast messages.

The antenna 4 also comprises, at mid-length of the radiating element 40, a contact point 42 allowing to connect it to the micro transceiver 5. When mounting the antenna is directed outwards for a optimal efficiency.

The position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are arranged on the opposite side (in the foreground in Figure 2) of the insulating support 30. During assembly, these sensors are thus directed towards the interior of the timepiece. Connection lines 60.1 to 60.12 allowing connect the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are in additionally arranged on the insulating support 30 so as to link these to electronic control means 7. A For this purpose, a contact pad 62 is arranged at a end of the insulating support 30.

In order to remedy operating disturbances the antenna 4 generated by the presence of the positions 6.1 to 6.12 and connecting lines 60.1 to 60.12, the latter are arranged so that they form, when the antenna-sensor sub-assembly is mounted in timepiece 1, a symmetrical arrangement by relative to the antenna 4. Connection lines 60.1 and 60.12 are furthermore arranged to disturb the less possible the antenna located on the other side.

By way of explanation, we have thus illustrated in FIG. 3, in the form of a simplified plan view of the part 1, the antenna-sensor sub-assembly of the Figure 2 in its mounting position. In the assembled state, the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are thus arranged so as to form a symmetrical arrangement around the radiating element 40, either on either side of the point contact 42 of the antenna 4. It can thus be seen on the Figures 2 and 3, that an axis of symmetry of the antenna 4 passes by the position sensor referenced 6.9.

It should be noted that the special arrangement of position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 as presented in the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 is not in no way limitative. It is indeed possible to predict other arrangements of the antenna 4 and / or of the positions 6.1 to 6.12 for which a symmetry of the whole is also obtained. In particular, position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 shown in Figures 2 and 3 could be arranged so that the axis of symmetry of the antenna 4 passes between two sensors adjacent position.

In order to prevent radiation from antenna 4 does not interfere with coupling the control electronics 7 of the position sensors 6.1 in 6.12, additional filtering components (not shown) are also provided on the lines of connection 60.1 to 60.12.

Figure 4 is a simplified sectional view along a 9h-3h axis of the timepiece of Figure 1. This includes the housing 2, the micro transceiver 5 associated with the antenna 4, the control electronics 7 position sensors 6.1 to 6.12, the clockwork movement 8 and the power supply source 11.

The insulating support 30 of FIG. 2 carrying the antenna 4 and the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 is wound in a peripheral region of the housing 2.

Preferably, the position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 are also bent radially inward of the timepiece 1, as shown in the figure 4, so that they come to press on a inner surface 22 of the bezel 20 so as to optimize the sensitivity of these sensors.

In addition, an internal ring 40 is preferably arranged in the housing 2 of the timepiece of so that the insulating support 30 is sandwiched between the housing 2 and the inner ring 40. This ring internal 40 further ensures that the positions 6.1 to 6.12 press correctly on the surface inner 22 of the bezel 20 so that the sensor operation is optimized.

We can see that the arrangement formed by the combination of antenna 4 and position sensors 6.1 to 6.12 on the same support, according to the present invention, greatly simplifies manufacturing as well as the mounting of the antenna and the sensors.

Finally, it should be noted that several modifications and / or improvements can be made to the room of watchmaking according to the present invention without departing from the part of it. In particular, the arrangement of position sensors on the insulating support presented in the embodiment of Figure 2 is not limiting.
