Ferner hat sich überraschenderweise herausgestellt, dass der Wirkungsgrad nochmals dadurch verbessert wird, wenn der Erdleiter vollständig von einem elektrischen Isolator umgeben ist. Dann lässt sich selbst bei schnelllaufenden Materialbahnen mit einer Geschwindigkeit in der Grössenordnung von grösser 10m/s eine höchstmögliche Entladung erzielen. Bei der erfindungsgemässen Elektrode ergibt sich überdies der Vorteil bei einem Ausfall des Netzes, dass die Reihe von Einzelelektroden als passive Entladeelektroden wirken, sodass zumindest ein Minimum an Funktionsfähigkeit trotz Netzausfall erhalten bleibt. Dieser Effekt stellt sich wiederum überraschenderweise dann nicht ein, wenn die Anschlüsse zwischen Erdleiter und Einzelelektroden vertauscht werden, also der Erdleiter an die HochspannungswechselStromquelle und die nadeiförmigen Einzelelektroden an Erde festgelegt werden.
