Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a monofilament for use in technical textiles, especially in paper machine clothing, made of a plastic material with a main component Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTMT) and at least an additional ingredient.
In many cases, monofilaments are used for technical textiles used as threads from which woven, knitted or Threads, etc. can be produced. Either that exists technical textiles made from such woven or knitted or thread-laid fabrics, or they form a carrier for coatings, needled nonwovens or the like. Special Technical textiles are endless treadmills - with or without Seam - that circulate in machines. This includes paper machine clothing, that of education and transportation of Serve paper web through the individual parts of the paper machine, namely the forming area, the press section and the token section. The paper machine clothing is for the individual parts of the paper machine are designed differently.
EP-A-0 070 708).In the past, there were different types of plastic material Suggestions have been made. For paper machine clothing have long been polyester or polyamide types used, with the latter mainly polyamide 6 types (cf. DE-A-44 10 399). More recently suggestions have been made has also been using polyamide 11 or polyamide 12 types (see Japanese Application Publication 60-52616), and both for the base fabric and for the fibers the needled fiber layers (cf. EP-A-0 070 708; EP-A-0 372 769). Previously, it had also been suggested Monofilaments made of a core, for example made of polyamide 6.6 or polyethylene terephthalate and a jacket made of polyamide 11 or 12 to produce (see. EP-A-0 070 708).
To improve the resistance to in paper machines Chlorine-containing substances that occur are paper machine clothing designed with the threads of the carrier fabric made of polybutylene terephthalate and the needled Nonwoven fabric made of polyethylene terephthalate. Because the mechanical properties of the latter material are worse than that of polyamide, the use of Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTMT), also polypropylene terephthalate mentioned, have been proposed (cf. US-A-5,137,601), both for the monofilaments of the base fabric as well as for the fibers of a possible nonwoven layer. This material will be the same chemical Resistance like polybutylene and polyethylene terephthalate attributed, but also similar mechanical Properties like polyamide 6, especially with regard to elasticity and abrasion resistance. Regarding the thermal resistance of this material be better than polyamide 6.
In addition, the good properties have also been tried of the polyester, especially of polyethylene terephthalate to combine significantly improved abrasion behavior (cf. DE-A-44 10 399). The polyester has been proposed for this purpose to mix a thermoplastic polyurethane.
A further development based on polytrimethylene terephthalate can be found in EP-A-0 844 320. It reveals a monofilament only partially, albeit as the main component Contains polytrimethylene terephthalate to increase the Abrasion resistance with polyurethane, especially elastomeric Polyurethane is mixed. However, it has been shown that when processing monofilaments made of PTMT material Woven or knitted fabrics experience significant problems. It there are irregularities and delays. It was determined, that the reason for this is the high elasticity of the PTMT monofilaments is, although in US-A-5,137,601 this elasticity behavior stated as favorable for the manufacturability is. The elasticity behavior does not change either the admixture of polyurethane proposed in EP-A-0 844 320.
The invention is accordingly based on the object To find plastic material that on the one hand the cheap chemical and mechanical properties of PTMT on the other hand, it is much better for woven or knitted fabrics can be processed and thus the production more uniform and warp-free textile webs.
This task is accomplished by a monofilament made from a plastic material solved with a main ingredient PTMT, at according to the invention the additional component is a polyamide or is a mixture of several types of polyamide. It has shown that a monofilament made of such a plastic material much better with fabrics, knitted fabrics or the like processed for example for paper machine clothing can be. The reason for this is the fact that the elasticity of the monofilament due to the addition of polyamide is significantly reduced. It has - with a view to US-A-5,137,601, surprisingly - showed that chemical resistance, especially against chlorine Substances not essential due to the addition of polyamide suffers. Even more surprising is that a gain in strength is achievable, which is above the strength values of the individual components - PTMT on the one hand and polyamide on the other - lies. This opens up the possibility of technical textiles same tensile strength with monofilaments of smaller cross-section to manufacture and thereby save costs and weight.
In principle, all types of polyamide come as an additional component in question, including the polyamide 6 types, although they have a relatively high water absorption. Because the water intake PTMT is very low, the higher water absorption capacity comes of polyamide 6 types not essential to wear. However, even better properties can be achieve the admixture of polyamide 11 and / or polyamide 12, because these polyamide types are characterized by low water absorption as well as even better abrasion resistance and chemical Characterize durability. The PTMT can also do several different types of polyamide can be added.
The proportion of the additional polyamide component can be set in this way be that - depending on the particular used Polyamide type - an optimal property profile is achieved for the respective application. The amount can go up to 50%, preferably up to 45% by weight. The workability and also the The strength of the monofilament is already considerable improved if the polyamide content is 5%. A special one Favorable property profile results from shares which are between 10 and 35%.
The mixture according to the invention is homogeneous in the sense that it is not limited to solution-like distributions. The mixture can also consist of a uniform mixture of the powdered components or made of pellets his.
It goes without saying that further additional components are also present can be, for example, a hydrolysis stabilizer and / or an antioxidant, the proportions in each case up to 5% can go.
The monofilament according to the invention can be of any cross-sectional shape have, for example rectangular, shamrock-shaped, dog-shaped, star-shaped, round or oval or the like. Also training as a hollow monofilament it is an option. The cross-sectional area of the Monofilaments should preferably be between 0.02 and 3.5 mm² lie what a diameter with a round cross-section from 0.08 to 1 mm.
If the monofilament according to the invention for producing a Carrier used for a paper machine clothing there is also the option of one or both sides to apply a fiber layer, the fibers of which at least partly as a main component polytrimethylene terephthalate having. Polyamide also comes as an additional component here or a mixture of several polyamides in question. Conveniently, corresponds to the composition of the plastic material for the fibers of those for the monofilaments.
In principle, paper machine clothing constructed in this way can used in all parts of the paper machine come. If they are designed as felt, they are suitable in particular as an upper or lower felt in one Shoe press. The paper machine clothing stands out despite the polyamide content due to good temperature resistance off, so that they can also be used where the Working temperature is above 55 °.
