Dieser Antrieb kann dabei von der Bewegung des Druckwerkes (Plattenzylinder) abgeleitet sein und aus einem Räderzug bestehen. Neben den Walzen, welche einen eigenen Antrieb aufweisen (Reiber) und den direkt von diesen angetriebenen Walzen weisen Farbwerke der oben geschilderten Art zusätzlich auch Zwischenwalzen auf, welche keinen eigenen Antrieb besitzen und die nur mit nicht angetriebenen Farbwalzen in Kontakt stehen.
