  4. Hammer according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the handle (14) comprises a U-shape with limbs (16, 18) which are substantially parallel to each other and face the hammer housing (12), and that a straight-line mechanism (20, 22) is located in each limb (16, 18) and is enclosed thereby.
  5. Hammer according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that each guide rod (20, 22) extends, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hammer housing, from this housing towards the handle (14), and that each guide sleeve (24, 26) is formed in the handle (14).
  6. Hammer according to claim 5, characterised in that each guide sleeve (24, 26) consists of a fixed bushing (28) in the handle (14) and that the elastic element is a liner (32) formed from rubber-elastic material fitted into the bushing (28) and firmly held therein in an axial manner, which liner is provided with a bore (34) extending at least over the length of the guide rod (20, 22) and having a cross-section to fit the guide rod (20, 22).
  7. Hammer according to claim 6, characterised in that the liner (32) is also firmly held on the guide rod (20, 22) in the axial direction.
  8. Hammer according to claim 6, characterised in that the guide rod (20, 22) is axially sprung (50) in the bore (34).
  9. Hammer according to claim 8, characterised by a compression spring (50) supported on the free end side of the guide rod (20) and on a base (30) of the bushing (28).
  10. Hammer according to any one of claims 6 to 8, characterised by a plurality of elastic elements in the form of liner parts (32; 32a, 32b) which can be inserted into the bushing (28) in an exchangeable manner and which have different degrees of compressibility.
  11. Hammer according to claim 10, characterised by at least one compressible liner part supported on the free end side of the guide rod (20, 22) and on a base (30) of the bushing (28).
  12. Hammer according to claim 6 or claim 6 together with one of claims 8 to 11,
    characterised by a radial projection (36), forming the stop plane (40), on the guide rod (20, 22), which projection engages in a radial recess provided in the liner (32) and with an axial length corresponding to the maximum permissible displacement path between the hammer housing (12) and the handle (14).
  13. Hammer according to claim 12, characterised in that the radial projection (36) is formed as an annular shoulder.
