Abstract

Figure 00000001
A wake-up device, which responds to noises caused by vehicles and generates a wake-up signal indicating the presence of such vehicles, has at least one sensor (10) for receiving the vehicle noises and signal processing (11) for the electrical output signals of the at least one sensor (10). In order to create a wake-up device with a large detection range and a high detection probability with a low false alarm rate without the need for complex signal processing, the signal processing has at least two signal processing channels in which level signals with different signal properties are derived from the output signals of the at least one sensor (10) and by means of estimation filters (16 , 17) and decision logics (18, 19), physically interpretable characteristics are extracted from the level signals and the confidence of the extraction is assessed. With the extracted features and their confidence, the estimation filters (16) are influenced with regard to the mode of operation, the function parameters to be set and the decision thresholds.
