Definitions
- the selectivity of the protections in the electrical networks can be total or partial to guarantee users the best availability of energy.
- total selectivity the appearance of a fault current from the overload until short circuit, causes the circuit breaker to open nearest upstream, while the head circuit breaker remains closed.
- partial selectivity the above condition is not met until maximum short-circuit current, but up to a lower value, called selectivity limit.
- Each of the documents FR-A-796774 and DE 1041585 describes a circuit breaker having an electromagnetic actuator equipped with two movable armatures independently of each other.
- One of the frames is coupled to a delay device to cause delayed triggering in the presence long-term overload current.
- the other frame causes a instantaneous tripping in the presence of a short-circuit current.
- Both movable frames are mounted on a common pivot.
- Document FR2.353.980 discloses a selective trip device equipped with a electromagnetic actuator causing the delayed tripping of the circuit breaker mechanism when two current waves appear successive intensity greater than a predetermined threshold. Another quick release can occur in the event of a short circuit for authorize instantaneous tripping of the circuit breaker when the current exceeds the second threshold. Such a triggering device is used classic way in large size industrial circuit breakers.
- an optical fiber placed in the vicinity of the contacts allows in case of repulsion, instant detection of the arc for cause the circuit breaker to trip immediately in the presence of current default.
- the object of the invention is to provide a selective triggering device with powerful electromagnetic actuator.
- the counterweight of the retarder system is carried by a support lever mounted with limited pivoting on an axis, and comprising a hooking stop intended to stop at the first half-wave current, the control lever in an intermediate position of the first palette, the appearance of the next half-wave causing the release of the hooking stop for the continued movement of the first pallet towards the attracted position causing the triggering delayed by the coming in engagement of the actuation button against the release lever of the mechanism.
- the active end of the organ striker of the second trigger sub-assembly has a part protruding arranged opposite the release lever, and a part in withdrawal located in front of the movable contact arm, detection of the second threshold repulsion by the attraction of the second palette neutralizing selectivity, with instantaneous triggering of the mechanism.
- Detection of the repulsion threshold by the attraction of the second palette neutralizes selectivity because the trigger becomes instantaneous. Selectivity is partial, because it is only operational between the first threshold magnetic, and the second repulsion threshold.
- the striker member is devoid of the projecting part in acting exclusively on the contact arm when the first appearance occurs half-wave, the triggering of the mechanism intervening via the actuation button when the second half-wave appears.
- the selectivity is in this case total.
- a circuit breaker 10 housed in a housing 11 of molded insulating material has a fixed contact 12, a movable contact 14 carried by a pivoting contact arm 16, a control mechanism 18 associated with a lever 20 manual actuation and automatic tripping means on fault, and an extinguishing chamber 22 with deionization plates 24 for extinguishing the arc drawn between the contacts 12, 14 during their separation.
- the control mechanism 18 is for example of the type described in document EP-A295 158, and comprises a trigger lever 26 cooperating with a latching lever 28 connected to the lever 20 by a transmission link 30.
- the contact arm 16 is carried by a plate 32 movable in rotation between a closed position and an open position of the contacts 12, 14.
- the tripping means of the circuit breaker 10 include a device for selective triggering, designated by the general reference 34, and constituted by a electromagnetic actuator 36, with a fixed magnetic circuit 38, and two mobile pallets 40 42.
- the excitation of the actuator 36 results from the passage of current in a conductor 44 of the main circuit causing a field magnetic in the air gap 45 of the magnetic circuit 38 located opposite the two separate pallets 40 42.
- the conductor 44 carries the fixed contact 12 to one ends, and is connected to a connection pad 43 by its end opposite.
- the first upper pallet 40 of the actuator 36 is part of a first delayed triggering sub-assembly 46, comprising an actuating pusher 48 secured to a first support element 50 of the pallet 40.
- L support element 50 is pivotally mounted on a hinge pin 52, and a first return spring 54 is associated with an adjustment rod 56 to urge the first pallet 40 towards a position separated from rest when the force of attraction exerted by the magnetic circuit 38 is less than the return force of the spring 54.
- a control lever 58 of the first support element 50 located opposite the pallet 40 cooperates with a retarder system 60 with counterweight 62, which is carried by a support lever 64 mounted with limited pivoting on an axis 66.
- the support lever 64 is equipped with a hooking stop 68 intended to come into engagement with the control lever 58, and a double spring 70 having two strands 70a, 70b of different lengths.
- the retarder system 60 is arranged between the extinguishing chamber 22, and the conductor 44, which is in abutment against a small side face of the housing 11 ( Figure 1).
- the second lower pallet 42 of the actuator 36 is part a second instantaneous triggering sub-assembly 76, provided with a striker 78 attached to a second support member 80 of the pallet 42.
- the second support element 80 is articulated on an axis 82, and is associated with a second return spring 84 urging the second pallet 42 towards the discarded position during normal operation of the circuit breaker 10.
- the active end of the striker 78 of the second subset of trigger 76 is divided transversely into two parts 72, 74 ( Figure 2) spaced from each other by a longitudinal offset extending in the direction of movement of the striker member 78 following the attraction of the second pallet 42.
- the projecting part 72 is arranged opposite a branch of the trigger lever 26 of the mechanism 18, while the other recessed part 74 is located opposite the internal edge of the contact arm 16.
- the actuating pusher 48 and the striker member 78 are arranged side by side. side, and move in the same direction, while the pivoting of support elements 50, 80 is carried out in the opposite direction during the attraction of their respective pallets 40, 42.
- FIGS. 5 to 11 The operation of the selective triggering device 34 according to the invention is illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 11, in which for reasons of clarity, the actuating power 48 has been deliberately shifted from the housing plan of the striker 78.
- the forces of attraction electromagnetic in the air gap 45 are less than the restoring forces of the two threshold springs 54, 84, which hold the two pallets 40, 42 in position away from the pole faces of the magnetic circuit 38.
- the actuator 36 is in an inactive state, and the double spring 70 biases the support lever 64 of the retarder system 60 in an equilibrium position.
- the appearance of a circuit current generates attractive forces in the air gap 45 of the actuator 36 which depend on the intensity of the short-circuit current.
- the calibration of the springs 54, 84 is calculated so that the actuator 36 of the selective tripping device 34 remains inactive when the current value peak is less than 7.5 ln.
- the first spring of threshold 54 of the first subset trigger delay 46 is set to 7.5 ln corresponding to the magnetic trigger point.
- the second threshold spring 84 of the second subset of trigger 76 instant is set to 17 ln corresponding to the threshold of repulsion of the contacts 12, 14 of the device.
- the repulsion threshold is around 3000A.
- Figure 5 shows the normal operation of circuit breaker 10 where the two paddles 40, 42 are not attracted against the magnetic circuit 38 of the actuator 36, and are held in the separated position.
- the pusher actuator 48 and the striker 78 remain stationary in the position rest. Continuity of service is ensured, with no triggering of the mechanism 18, and maintenance of the movable contact 14 in position closed.
- This current page corresponds to the active selectivity zone whose operating phases are shown in figures 6 to 8.
- the first support element 50 pivots about the hinge axis 52 in the direction of clockwise until the control lever 58 comes to rest against the hooking stop 68 of the support lever 64 of the counterweight 62. The movement of attraction of the first pallet 40 is stopped at this instant, continued the inertia of the flyweight 62.
- the actuating button 48 does not come into contact with the lever trigger 26, which remains in the armed position. This attraction precourse of the first pallet 40 intervenes during the rising edge of the first half sine wave.
- Support lever 64 rotates slightly clockwise, and causes a offloading of the hooking pressure of the control lever 58 in the stop 68.
- the paddle 40 remains in the initial position without triggering the mechanism 18.
- the electromagnetic force in the air gap 45 increases, and the first pallet 40 is again attracted in the direction of arrow F1 ( Figure 8).
- the first support element 50 pivots around the axis 52, and the control lever 58 released from the stop attachment 68, causes the support lever 64 to rotate about the axis 66, authorizing the continuation of the movement of attraction of the pallet 40 towards the position attracted.
- the actuating push-button 48 acts on the lever trigger 26 to unlock the mechanism 18 causing the pivoting contact arms 16 and the opening of the movable contact 14.
- the system retarder 60 then returns to the initial position of FIG. 5 under the action potential energy stored by the short strand 70a of the double spring 70.
- the striker member 78 acts on the trigger lever 26 to unlock the mechanism 18, and simultaneously strikes the contact arm 16, which is quickly driven to the open position ( Figure 10). At the end of movement, the movable contact 14 is completely open, and the paddles 40, 42 return to the initial position, as well as the support lever 64 of the counterweight 62 (FIG. 11).
- the triggering of the mechanism 18 can thus intervene by one of the two triggering sub-assemblies 46, 76 which are independent of each other, one being delayed by the delay system 60 when the current exceeds the magnetic threshold , and the other being instantaneous when the current exceeds the repulsion threshold.
- the detection of the repulsion threshold by the attraction of the second pallet 42 thereby neutralizes the selectivity, since the triggering becomes instantaneous.
- the selectivity is only operational between the magnetic threshold and the repulsion threshold. Such an operation of the triggering device 34 makes it possible to obtain partial selectivity.
- the projecting part 72 of the striker 78 of the second trigger sub-assembly 76 is deleted, so as to constitute a straight edge in alignment with the other part 74.
- the striker 78 no longer acts on the lever trigger 26, but only on the contact arm 16 as striker. If the short-circuit current persists after the first half-wave, the actuating pusher 48 will trigger the mechanism 18 as in the case of the partial selectivity described above.
