Description

The present invention relates to a watch strap comprising two portions of bracelet attached to a case capable of enclosing a movement, each said portions being constituted by a series of links articulated one after the other, these links each having at least one hole in which pass a flexible link to hold them together and attach each serving in the case.

A link tying together the links of a bracelet and jointly serving to attach the bracelet to the case of the watch is described in several documents.

A watch strap comprising a plurality of articulated elements one after the other is described in document EP-A-0 167 891. One of these elements wears a timepiece and other items constitute the links of the bracelet. The elements are nested end to end and held together by two flexible non-extendable links passing through channels practiced in each of the elements and arranged on the side and on the other side of the longitudinal axis of the watch strap. The watch strap also includes each of ends of the bracelet a terminal piece provided with means for anchoring said flexible link. Elements can be made of synthetic material loaded with fibers carbon and synthetic links impregnated with graphite. In this construction, each link is moored at the end of one of the portions of the bracelet, crosses the first portion, then the middle of the box and finally the second portion to be moored at the end of this second portion. Note that the means of anchoring the link on the end piece consist of a screw screwed in said part and crushing the link for the to stare. As the wire is cut after anchoring it is not no longer possible to add one or more links to the bracelet unless you change the whole link and choose some a longer one.

Il faudra alors, comme cela était le cas pour l'exemple précédent, changer la totalité du lien.CH-A-490 827 also uses a link to tie the links together and to attach the portion of bracelet thus formed in the watch case. Here, a flexible cable starts from a terminal piece of a portion of the bracelet, follow this portion to the articulation bar connecting two horns of the housing the watch, goes inside the bar, then comes back along the same portion of bracelet to be finally moored to the same end piece. This construction shows a terminal piece where the ends of the place are folded and then clamped between jaws to fix the link to this terminal piece. The document mentions that it it is then easy to change the length of the bracelet. it is true if it is a question of shortening it, because one cuts then excess links; however it is impossible to lengthen for obvious lack of reserve. It will then be necessary, as was the case for the previous example, change the entire link.

The utility model DE-G-85 34 115.0 describes a watch bracelet made up of concave links in their sides and transversely drilled. It is still composed bars with circular cross section fitting into the concave sides of said links. A cable crosses holes in these links and bars. The cable takes the shape of a U, the ends being retained in the middle part of the watch case, by means of screws. This construction, no more than those described above, allows an extension of the bracelet without having to change everything the link.

Consequently, the watch strap of this invention provides a device which allows, in a bracelet where the links are tied together by a link, lengthening this bracelet without it being necessary to change the link. Thus the present invention is it remarkable in that one of the ends of at at least one of the bracelet portions has a link individual to whom the link is moored by means of a fastening device, this particular link being equipped with a housing arranged after said device fixing, housing in which can be put reserves a certain excess portion of the link.

The advantages and the interest of such an arrangement will now be explained in detail with the aid of the following description of an embodiment and of the drawings which illustrate it by way of non-limiting example and in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the wristwatch where the particular link of the invention appears,
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the particular link according to the invention,
  • FIG. 3 is a section along line III-III in FIG. 2,
  • FIG. 4 is a section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3, and
  • FIG. 5 shows a cover capable of covering the special link of FIG. 2.

The watch strap of the invention is presented in almost all of it and in perspective in Figure 1. There sees two portions 6 and 7 of bracelet attached to a case 1. This case encloses in a known manner a movement of watch. Each of portions 6 and 7 of the bracelet is constituted by a series of links 8 which are articulated one after the other. Here the articulation includes a cylindrical bar 9 interposed between two links 8. For this, the links 8 have concave sides which allows the interlocking of bars 9 between the links 8. Note, however, that the use of bars is not not necessary and that the links could be directly articulated on each other by nesting of grooves and bosses practiced directly in the sides of the link, as it appears by example in document CH-A-467598. Links 8 each have at least one bore 13, 15 like this is visible at the end of portion 7 of the bracelet Figure 1. In this hole passes a flexible link 10 which holds the links together and attaches each portion 6 and 7 to case 1. If the bracelet has bars of connection 9, as in the case of FIG. 1, it goes without saying that these bars will also be provided with holes for the passage of the link. If a single link 10 is sufficient to perform the functions described, the watch strap of the figure 1 has two for security reasons mostly.

As seen in Figure 1, the invention is remarkable in that one of the ends (here the end 2) at least one of the portions 6, 7 of the bracelet (here the portion 6) has a specific link 3. To this link individual 3 is moored link 10 by means of a fixing device 14, 16 which will be described in more detail detail below. The particular link 3 is still equipped with a housing 4 arranged following said device fixing 14, 16. In this housing 4 can be set reserves a certain excess portion (11, 12) of the link 10, as will now be seen by examining the Figures 2 to 4.

Il en va de même du dispositif de fixation 14.Figure 2 is an enlarged view of the link particular 3 mounted at the end of portion 6 of the bracelet Figure 1. This particular link 3 is attached to the portion 6 of the bracelet by links 10 which penetrate therein holes 13 and 15. The link 10 from the left in Figure 2 is fixed to the link 3 by the fixing device 16 and the link 10 on the right is attached to link 3 by the fixing device 14. As seen on the section in Figure 4, the fastening device 16 is a stud screwed into the particular link 3. The end of this stud crushes link 10 and thus blocks it on the link 3. The same applies to the fixing device 14.

Figure 2 still shows in detail the housing 4 practiced in the particular link 3. In this accommodation 4 is set aside a certain excess portion 11 of the right link 10 and some excess portion 12 from link 10 on the left. If the bracelet did not have only one link 10, it is clear that housing 4 would only house a single excess portion of said link.

We understood that housing 4 must be enough bulky to reserve a portion length excess 11 and 12 links 10 at least equal to the width C of a link 8 (see Figure 1). So if he this involves adding a link 8 to the bracelet portion 6, there will be a sufficient reserve of excess link 10 and there will not be necessary to change the whole link too short by a longer link. To proceed with this extension, we unscrew the studs 14 and 16, we remove the excess links 11 and 12 of the particular link 3, we put on a new link 8 on the links thus freed, we reintroduce the links 10 in link 3 through holes 13 and 15 and we lock their end by screwing the studs again 14 and 16. Thanks to this particular link 3 it therefore does not been necessary to change the whole link. We will understand also that at the time the watch bracelet is offered to the sale his bracelet will have the longest average length common. Depending on the wearer, it may be necessary or shorten the bracelet by removing one or more links 8 and keeping the excess link 10 in reserve in the housing 4 of the link 3, or lengthen this bracelet adding one or more 8 links using this times the link reserve 10 located in said housing 4.

Figure 1 shows only one particular link 3 on the watch strap. There could however be one second at the far right of portion 7 of bracelet.

Particular link 3 could be part integral with a clasp or could present, as shown in Figure 2, means of attachment to a clasp which consist of a hinge 19 pierced with a hole 20 likely to receive a bar.

The housing 4 of the particular link 3 can be closed by a cover 17 shown in FIG. 5. This cover rests on shoulders 21 of housing 4. It can be fixed to the notch in this housing. To remove it, an opening 22 of circular shape is provided which allows introducing a sharp tool and removing the lid.
