Claims (9)

  1. Device for controlling a motor vehicle starter, comprising electronic means (2, 4) which control the supply to the starter according in particular to the closed or open state of the starter switch (3), characterised in that the said electronic means comprise means (4) for detecting, on a voltage issuing from the vehicle system voltage, residual ripples corresponding to the ripples present on the voltage output from the alternator rectifier bridge when the thermal engine of the vehicle is running, as well as means (2) for blocking the control of the supply to the starter when these residual ripples are detected.
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the means (4) of detecting the residual ripples comprise filtering means (F) of the band-pass type intended to eliminate, on the voltage received, on the one hand the DC component of this voltage and on the other hand any high-frequency parasitics which this voltage may exhibit.
  3. Device according to Claim 2, characterised in that the low frequency of the filtering means (F) is lower than the frequency of the alternator rotating at tick-over and in that its high frequency is higher than the frequency of the alternator rotating at maximum speed.
  4. Device according to one of Claims 2 or 3, characterised in that the means (4) of detecting the residual ripples comprise, in series with the filtering means (F), amplification means (A) and means (I) of extracting a voltage whose value represents the presence or not of residual ripples.
  5. Device according to Claim 4, characterised in that the extraction means (I) extract the average value and/or the effective value and/or the peak value of the amplified residual voltage.
  6. Device according to one of Claims 4 and 5, characterised in that the electronic means comprise means (2) of comparing with a threshold the voltage output from the extraction means and for blocking the control of the supply to the starter when the said voltage is higher than the said threshold.
  7. Device according to Claim 6, characterised in that the means which compare with a threshold the voltage output from the extraction means consist of a microprocessor (2) which receives as an input the voltage output from the said extraction means.
  8. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the voltage received by the means (4) of detecting the residual ripples is the supply voltage to the electronic means controlling the supply to the starter.
  9. Motor vehicle starter, characterised in that it comprises a device according to one of the preceding claims.
