Definitions
- the invention is based on a method for evaluating digital signals over another than one on one Broadcast receiver set transmission frequency are transmitted, according to the genus of the main claim.
- Radio receivers are known from DE-A-41 03 061, at which the program chain identifiers to find worth receiving Transmission frequencies are used over which the same program as transmitted over the current transmission frequency becomes.
- the reception frequency of the radio receiver for the Duration of testing an alternative frequency d. H. to Checking their reception field strength and the one assigned to them Program chain identifier PI on the alternative transmission frequency switched.
- the resulting signal interruptions in the range from 20 to 30 msec. or 150 to 300 msec. do in the form of crackling noises and loss of information noticeable. It is therefore suggested in the signal gaps Substitute signals that result from the interruption immediately preceding audio signal section Intermediate memories are obtained, and so are the signal interruptions to cover up.
- a transmission frequency set digital transmitted Signals is in the unpublished patent application P 197 01 042.3 by the applicant a process proposed in which the receiver uses a high speed phase locked loop (PLL) from the original to an alternative frequency within each Duration of a bit of the transmitted over the alternative frequency digital signal switched and switched back becomes.
- PLL phase locked loop
- the during the duration of the recipient's stay bits of digital received on the alternative frequency Signals are read into a buffer so that with repeated switchover of the receiver during successive Bits of the digital signal finally in Store the complete transmitted over the alternative frequency digital signal is available for evaluation.
- the invention Process the advantage that switching to the alternative frequency and from this back on again the mother frequency is less time critical and thus the Phase locked loop for frequency switching less demanding requirements must meet.
- Radio receiver for receiving according to the radio data system (RDS) transmitted information is, however in principle also to other digitally transmitted information applicable, which transmit structured in bit groups become.
- RDS radio data system
- a receiving antenna 1 pending broadcast signal on Received part 2 forwarded to the for receiving and means required for demodulating radio signals, like an antenna signal amplifier, an adjustable phase locked loop (PLL) for tuning the receiving part 2 to a certain transmission frequency, an intermediate frequency part and a demodulator for demodulating the received broadcast signal disposes.
- PLL phase locked loop
- the phase locked loop for switching of the receiving part from a first to a second transmission frequency is used by a control system that will be explained in more detail later 5 controlled.
- the control 5 controlled mute circuit 6 is in the present case as controllable switch designed, the output with a Memory, in the simplest case a capacitor is. In this way, the coupling capacitors subsequent levels when the audio signal is interrupted the last applied value, so that crackling noises as a result of transients on the coupling capacitors effectively avoided when opening and closing the switch become.
- the mute circuit can be designed in this way be that the audio signal after an interruption a predetermined time function off and after the temporary Frequency switching is shown again. On this way, suppression is also more uncomfortable Crackling noises possible.
- the stereo multiplex signal is still an input RDS demodulator 3 connected to the controller 5 for demodulation of the 57 kHz subcarrier modulated by the RDS signal of the stereo multiplex signal (MPX).
- the output of the RDS demodulator 3 has a memory 4 for storing the bits of the RDS signal in connection, which in turn is connected to the controller 5.
- the memory 4 also includes a result register for recording a resulting bit group of the RDS signal, which can be fed to a further evaluation in the controller 5 is.
- FIG. 2 shows an example of a section from a radio data (RDS) Signal 20 shown with a radio program is transmitted via a transmission frequency.
- the RDS signal 20 is made up of bit groups 21, 22, 23 which are in the Episode are briefly referred to as groups, as the largest coherent Unit together, each group being a length of 104 bits.
- Each group of the RDS signal is turn divided into blocks 25, 26, 27, 28 of 26 bits each.
- a each block consists of a first 16 bits the actual information to be transmitted containing information word and an overlay 35, 36, 37, 38 of a control word formed from the information word and one the position of the respective block within the group indicating offset word.
- the present invention now makes use of the fact that the most important information, and this are to be detected with the method according to the invention fixed positions within the groups of the digital signal, in the present case, the RDS signal.
- the relevant data of a currently set Transmission frequency, hereinafter also called mother frequency (MF), alternative transmission frequency (AF) are now not collected in a continuous stream. Rather, the set mother frequency (MF) only for a very short time Time in the range of a few ms. leave and an alternative frequency set to the interruption in the reception of the To make the mother frequency inaudible for a listener. While the short-term switchover to the alternative frequency will be a short bit sample of that on the alternative frequency transferred data stream 20 taken. Then the Mother frequency set again and after an interval time again taken a data sample. About the interruption to make it as inaudible as possible when receiving the mother frequency, a data sample should not exceed 5 to 8 bits.
- a suitable choice of the dwell time T V on the alternative frequency for taking a data sample ensures, with a fixed interval time T I , that the successive bit positions within the jumped groups of the alternative frequency are recorded for each data sample.
- the group of the over composed of the p data samples contains the alternative frequency broadcast digital signal now signal sections from p groups of the digital signal, which with a certain probability are different Have group type.
- the information content the group thus captured is small, one Group or block synchronization is therefore no more possible like a syndrome calculation.
- To obtain more meaningful Information is suggested multiple groups that So to collect an integer multiple of 104 bits and to determine a resulting bit group by averaging.
- the evaluation of the autocorrelation is used for averaging, the formation of a moving average or a summation with subsequent threshold decision in question.
- B. 4, 6 or 8 x 104 bits and links the currently read bit sequence with the values the previous to a resulting bit sequence.
- each group, from which a data sample was taken, another content thus has a different group type, in the resulting one Bit group extrema only at the places where for all group types matching information, for example the program chain identifier in block A, the program type identifier and the traffic information identifier at the bit positions 7 to 11 and 6 of block B since this data then Repeated and added 4, 6 or 8 times, in contrast to other signal sections that are statistically different Have values and thus have a medium value.
- FIG. 3 shows an example of a section from an RDS signal 20 that is transmitted via an alternative frequency 19.
- the reception frequency of the reception part is or is switched from the mother frequency 18 to the alternative frequency 19 at successive times t i , which are denoted in the figure by the reference numerals 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60.
- data samples 65, 66, 67, 68 to 72 are taken from the RDS signal 20 of the alternative frequency 19 and temporarily stored in the memory 4 of the radio receiver operating according to the method of the invention .
- T total ox ((p - 1) x T I. + T V ).
- the total evaluation time T tot is ⁇ 4.5-5 ms.
- the frequency switchover from the mother frequency 18 to the alternative frequency 19 is brought forward by a flat-rate settling time T E compared to the times t 1 .
- the fixed settling time of the PLL corresponds to the maximum settling time that results from a frequency jump over the largest possible frequency range, that is, between two transmission frequencies at the opposite ends of the FM frequency band.
- the settling time T E which, as already indicated, depends on the width of the skipped frequency range, is calculated from the difference between the values of the mother frequency and the alternative frequency, and the switching times t i the PLL are brought forward by this individually calculated settling time T E compared to the reading times t 1 . This ensures that the PLL has reached the alternative frequency in good time for the start of data sample acquisition and at the same time the interruption 53 reaches its lowest possible value when the mother frequency is received.
- FIGS. 4a, b each show an example of the content of the resulting memory content or the result register.
- the content of the result register which like the intermediate register has a length of 104 bits, results in the present case by adding the contents of the intermediate register contents, whereby in the present case the value o, i.e. the number of bit groups to be evaluated and thus also the number of intermediate registers in Memory 4 to four was chosen.
- the value is logical 1 "of the digital signal to the value 1 "and the value logical 0 "on the value 0 "was mapped.
- FIG. 4b The content of the result register is shown in FIG. 4b in the event that all data samples from groups of the same type. In this case are also the rest of the data of the group, which for different Group types have different information content have usable.
- FIG. 4b also shows intermediate values 80, 81 and 82 which itself, for example, by errors in the transmission of the digital Signal.
- FIGS. 5 a and b show the sequence of the method according to the invention, which is implemented, for example, in the form of software in the controller 5 of a radio receiver according to the invention.
- the process begins with step 100.
- step 110 the RDS demodulator 3 of the radio receiver according to the invention is synchronized to the digital signal of the alternative frequency. According to FIG.
- step 112 the receiving part 2 is tuned from the mother frequency to the alternative frequency by means of the PLL
- step 113 the detection of a bit start is checked, after a bit start is detected in step 114 the time of the detected
- the beginning of the bit is stored as the basis for the calculation of the further switching times t i and the times t l for taking the data samples and finally in a step 115 the receiving part 2 is tuned back from the alternative frequency to the mother frequency by means of the PLL.
- step 120 after bit synchronization of the RDS demodulator, in addition to further calculations, the dwell time T V on the alternative frequency is made up of the quantities m and p, the next read time t l from the group duration T G and the values n, m, p, the next Switching point in time t i from the mother frequency to the alternative frequency is calculated taking into account the settling time T E of the PLL.
- the receiving part 2 of the radio receiver is tuned in block 140 from the mother frequency to the alternative frequency.
- step 160 if, as is checked in block 150, the reading time t 1 calculated in block 120 has been reached, a bit is read, in step 170 it is checked whether the dwell time T V on the alternative frequency has already passed, and if so is not the case, the next bit of the digital signal is read in step 160. If, according to the check in step 170, the dwell time T V on the alternative frequency has expired, ie if all bits of the current data sample have been recorded, then in step 180 the receiving part 2 of the radio receiver is tuned back from the alternative frequency to the mother frequency. It is then checked in step 190 whether sufficient data samples are already available for an evaluation, that is to say whether an oxm barrier has been reached.
- step 120 the method is calculated with step 120, that is to say the calculation of a new residence time T V, the next reading time t i for taking the next data sample. If, on the other hand, the aforementioned barrier has been reached, ie all intermediate registers of the memory 4 are occupied with newly acquired data, the evaluation is carried out in step 200 in such a way that, as in the example of FIGS fed to a threshold value decider and the data taken from the threshold value decider as usable for further processing, e.g. B. the PI evaluation. The method finally ends in step 210.
- the method can evaluate the read signal sections also be done in such a way that the new data in one second register collected, with the contents of the first register linked and then the result in the same Register is written back.

Abstract
Description
The invention is based on a method for evaluating digital signals over another than one on one Broadcast receiver set transmission frequency are transmitted, according to the genus of the main claim.
From the Specifications of the Radio Data System (RDS) for VHF / FM Sound Broadcasting "of the European Broadcasting Union from March 1984, it is known, in addition to the radio programs in the context of the radio data system, RDS for short, information in the form of radio broadcasting frequencies digital signals, which are grouped together in blocks, to be transmitted.Part of this information is the program frequencies assigned to the transmission frequencies or the programs transmitted via the transmission frequencies (Program Identification Code PI), which indicate which program via the Further particularly important information is a program type code (Program Type Code PTY), which specifies which type of program content, eg pop music, classical music, sports, etc., is broadcast via the received program and finally a traffic information identifier (Traffic Program TP) which indicates whether the received Progra mm is a traffic program.
According to the above Specification provides that As part of the radio data system, groups of various information content in any order over the transmission frequencies can be broadcast, but the aforementioned, information considered to be particularly important (PI, PTY, TP) are common to all group types and in the respective Group also assume a permanently assigned position.
Radio receivers are known from DE-A-41 03 061, at which the program chain identifiers to find worth receiving Transmission frequencies are used over which the same program as transmitted over the current transmission frequency becomes. To test such alternative frequencies the reception frequency of the radio receiver for the Duration of testing an alternative frequency, d. H. to Checking their reception field strength and the one assigned to them Program chain identifier PI on the alternative transmission frequency switched. The resulting signal interruptions in the range from 20 to 30 msec. or 150 to 300 msec. do in the form of crackling noises and loss of information noticeable. It is therefore suggested in the signal gaps Substitute signals that result from the interruption immediately preceding audio signal section Intermediate memories are obtained, and so are the signal interruptions to cover up.
To avoid having to record the interruption previous audio signal section associated effort and simultaneous inaudible evaluation from next to one Broadcasting program on a different one than currently one a transmission frequency set digital transmitted Signals is in the unpublished patent application P 197 01 042.3 by the applicant a process proposed in which the receiver uses a high speed phase locked loop (PLL) from the original to an alternative frequency within each Duration of a bit of the transmitted over the alternative frequency digital signal switched and switched back becomes. The during the duration of the recipient's stay bits of digital received on the alternative frequency Signals are read into a buffer so that with repeated switchover of the receiver during successive Bits of the digital signal finally in Store the complete transmitted over the alternative frequency digital signal is available for evaluation.
The inventive method with the features of Main claim has over that known from DE-A-41 03 061 Broadcast receivers have the advantage of being short switching from the current to the transmission frequency to be checked, the audio signal interruption made during the switchover is not audible. It also takes the effort to record the one preceding the interruption Audio signal section, as already in the latter State of the art, saved.
Compared to the latter prior art, the invention Process the advantage that switching to the alternative frequency and from this back on again the mother frequency is less time critical and thus the Phase locked loop for frequency switching less demanding requirements must meet.
It is also advantageous to play the audio signal while switching the receiver to an alternative frequency to interrupt so that annoying crackling noises z. B. may result from the fact that on the alternative Frequency another modulation is transmitted than on the original frequency.
Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung sind in den Zeichnungen
dargestellt und werden im folgenden näher erläutert. Es zeigen

Teil eines Rundfunkempfängers zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen
Verfahrens,
The method according to the invention is described below using a Radio receiver for receiving according to the radio data system (RDS) transmitted information is, however in principle also to other digitally transmitted information applicable, which transmit structured in bit groups become.
In the radio receiver shown in Figure 1 for

Alternatively, the mute circuit can be designed in this way be that the audio signal after an interruption a predetermined time function off and after the temporary Frequency switching is shown again. On this way, suppression is also more uncomfortable Crackling noises possible.
The stereo multiplex signal is still an

der Gruppe anzeigenden Offsetwortes.FIG. 2 shows an example of a section from a radio data (RDS)

The present invention now makes use of the fact

The group of the over composed of the p data samples contains the alternative frequency broadcast digital signal now signal sections from p groups of the digital signal, which with a certain probability are different Have group type. The information content the group thus captured is small, one Group or block synchronization is therefore no more possible like a syndrome calculation. To obtain more meaningful Information is suggested multiple groups that So to collect an integer multiple of 104 bits and to determine a resulting bit group by averaging. The evaluation of the autocorrelation is used for averaging, the formation of a moving average or a summation with subsequent threshold decision in question.
Zwecks Mittelung sammelt man z. For the purpose of averaging, B. 4, 6 or 8 x 104 bits and links the currently read bit sequence with the values the previous to a resulting bit sequence. As a result you get provided that each group, from which a data sample was taken, another content, thus has a different group type, in the resulting one Bit group extrema only at the places where for all group types matching information, for example the program chain identifier in block A, the program type identifier and the traffic information identifier at the bit positions 7 to 11 and 6 of block B since this data then Repeated and added 4, 6 or 8 times, in contrast to other signal sections that are statistically different Have values and thus have a medium value. At the same time as a result of the averaging Large number of groups possibly suppressed data or read errors, as this is statistical for a large number of groups are evenly distributed.
The method according to the invention is now based on the example of a via a radio broadcast frequency next to a radio program transmitted radio data signal with reference to Figure 3 explained in more detail.
zwischengespeichert.FIG. 3 shows an example of a section from an

Group 3, - ...
- 72:
- Bit 16, Block A - Bit 24, Block A, Group 13.
also der Verweildauer
Of course, the above formulas only apply in the event that the number m of reads per data sample Bits is the same for all data samples, not for example for the aforementioned example with p = 17, whereby during 6 of the first 15 data samples and 6 each of the last 7 bits can be read in both data samples.
ergibt.
In a first exemplary embodiment of the method according to the invention, it is provided that the frequency switchover from the
In a second embodiment of the method according to the invention, on the other hand, it is provided that the settling time T E , which, as already indicated, depends on the width of the skipped frequency range, is calculated from the difference between the values of the mother frequency and the alternative frequency, and the switching times t i the PLL are brought forward by this individually calculated settling time T E compared to the reading times t 1 . This ensures that the PLL has reached the alternative frequency in good time for the start of data sample acquisition and at the same time the
Dies
Due to the fact that different groups from which
Data samples were taken, at least partially different

Information is stored, first of all group types
together and secondly, regardless of the group type in each

In diesem Fall
Signals ergeben. The content of the result register is shown in FIG. 4b
in the event that all data samples from groups

vorerwähnte Schranke erreicht, sind also alle Zwischenregister
z. B. der PI-Auswertung zugeführt werden. Das Verfahren endet
schließlich im Schritt 210.FIGS. 5 a and b show the sequence of the method according to the invention, which is implemented, for example, in the form of software in the
In a further exemplary embodiment of the invention The method can evaluate the read signal sections also be done in such a way that the new data in one second register collected, with the contents of the first register linked and then the result in the same Register is written back.
