Abstract

A digital route map is defined in terms of a number of sections (1-17) that are connect between nodes (A-T), e.g. junctions. The sections are defined to allow different part routes (W1-W4) to be defined. A mobile communication link to a central station allows route data to be transmitted in sections to a vehicle (18). The data is stored in different sections of memory.
