Description
The invention relates to a device for cleaning an ink print head, in particular in a franking and / or addressing machine.
With the franking and / or addressing machines previously on the market, printing is carried out mainly by means of inking rollers or thermal print heads.
Recently, efforts have been made to take advantage of ink printing in the field of machine franking and / or addressing. The printing is done without contact by means of ink printheads, see DE 44 24 771 C1 and DE 94 20 734 U1.
In this context, a franking machine has been proposed, see DE 196 05 014 C1, in which the letters are conveyed upright, slightly inclined backwards, using a conveyor belt.
The letters lie on a guide plate with a print window in which the ink print head is permanently installed. The letter is guided past the print window or the ink print head and, in the meantime, is printed on the side facing away from the viewer.
The problem of ink head cleaning and sealing is not taken into account.
A device for cleaning an ink print head is known, see WO 96/15908 A1, in which it is provided that the ink print head is fastened to and fro from a printing position to a cleaning position and / or sealing position, and that a cleaning and sealing device is linearly adjustable , towards and away from the printhead.
The cleaning and sealing device contains a sealing cap adapted to the ink printhead with suction slots for each row of nozzles and a transversely adjustable wiper lip as well as a downstream suction pump.
A suction area with a central suction opening for the wiper lip is also provided at one end in the sealing cap. The wiper lip is adjusted by means of a spindle drive. Under pressure, the wiper lip glides along the nozzle surface of the ink printhead and takes residual ink on it. The wiper lip is stopped and vacuumed in the assigned suction area. However, only the residual ink located in the lower middle part of the wiper lip is sucked off via the suction opening, so that when the nozzle surface is wiped again there is a risk of smearing the same. In addition, when the wiper lip is separated from the nozzle surface, part of the residual ink remains on the print head edge as a result of adhesion, can collect into a drop and then drip off into the space under the print head. Furthermore, there is the risk that when the cleaning and sealing device is detached from the ink print head, the wiping lip, which is curved under pressure, stretches with momentum and part of the residual ink still present on the wiping lip is thrown away. This can not only lead to undesired contamination but even damage to the device, especially if the ink is conductive.
An ink printer is also known, see JP 08 048043 A, at which in the housing of an ink print head a compartment with a replaceable, absorbent filling for cleaning the wiper lip is provided.
The purpose of the invention is to improve the cleanliness of the Ink printhead.
The invention has for its object a device of the beginning to create the type with which a behind a guide plate stationary print head from the printing position in a cleaning position and / or adjustable in a sealing position and back is in which an adapted to the ink print head and with a Wiper lip provided cleaning and sealing device on the ink print head is functionally connectable. In particular, the Function of the wiper lip can be improved.
According to the invention, this object is achieved according to the main claim. Further advantageous features of the invention can be found in the subclaims.
The fact that the ink print head and the cleaning and sealing device are arranged on the same side of the guide plate for the print carriers enables a closed, compact construction of the franking machine and a simple design of the print carrier transport system.
Since the ink print head is only swiveled, a quick and precise return from the cleaning position to the printing position is ensured.
The adjustment mechanism for the ink printhead and the cleaning and sealing device can be connected to one another and designed in such a way that a positionally accurate and functionally reliable coupling is made possible.
By arranging the nozzle surface to be cleaned and the absorbent filling in succession in an alignment, both the object to be cleaned - the nozzle surface - and the cleaning agent - wiper lip - can be cleaned in one movement.
Since the absorbent filling is only attached by force or with a positive fit, it is easy to replace. This means that consistent cleaning quality can be achieved without any problems. The absorbent filling not only absorbs ink residues but also dust particles. This is important since paper dust is increasingly generated and deposited as a result of the print media moving past the nozzle surface.
The improved cleaning of the wiper lip in turn improves cleaning of the nozzle surface of the ink print head and prevents smearing of the nozzles.

The illustration is for simplification and easier understanding partially carried out schematically.
Dichtkappe 31 und aus einer stationären Saugpumpe 322 zusammengesetzt.1, a franking machine has a

noch ein Fach 221 mit einer saugfähigen Füllung 222;
