Abstract

A spray gun for jet washers which comprises a profiled plastic outer casing (1) within which there are housed, in appropriate seats, a pressurized fluid delivery valve controlled by a lever (5) located on the gun handgrip, means for connecting the delivery valve to the delivery nozzle and means for connecting the delivery valve to the pressurized fluid feed hose, said means being of the male-female insertion type, in which in the connection means rigid with the hose there is provided a seat arranged to receive an externally removable element (10) for retaining said hose in its coupled position, said element being received in an appropriate aperture provided in the gun casing.

Description

This invention relates to spray guns for jet washers.
Guns of this type are used for delivering water under pressure and are connected to the jet washer by a feed hose. This type of gun generally consists of two plastic half-casings provided with suitable seats accommodating a valve body provided with a valve seat against which the valving element acts, this being controlled by the operator by means of a suitable lever, to deliver the pressurized fluid.
The valve feed and delivery conduits are connected respectively to a feed hose, and to a delivery nozzle or to a delivery lance.
The connection between the valve body and the hose is made using a threaded coupling, one end of which is screwed into the threaded feed conduit of the valve body, and on the other end of which there is screwed the rigid metal connector with which the hose is provided.
This type of connection does not enable the hose to rotate about its longitudinal axis, and this can give rise to problems in that during the use of the jet washer the hose can twist about itself to undergo damage or at least to exert a twisting moment on the gun, which has to be counteracted by the operator.
To overcome these problems, spray guns are known in which the connection between the valve body and the hose is made by a sealed double coupling which is inserted into the feed conduit of the spray gun valve body and into which there is inserted the metal connector of the high pressure hose. To prevent the hose withdrawing from the coupling during operation because of the high pressure to which it is subjected, and to enable it to rotate about its axis, the end part of the hose metal connector is sometimes widened to rest on a thrust bearing supported by an appropriate seat in the casing.
This type of connection is of complex construction, and does not eliminate the drawback that to replace the hose the outer casing of the gun has to be opened and some of the elements contained in it have to be removed.
The object of the invention is to overcome the stated drawbacks by providing a spray gun which enables the hose to be fitted into the spray gun without having to open its casing, within the context of a simple construction which is practical and reliable in terms of the seal between the parts concerned.
Said object is attained by the invention by virtue of the characteristics defined in the claims.
The operational and constructional characteristics of the invention will be more apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment thereof given by way of non-limiting example and illustrated on the accompanying drawings.
  • Figure 1 is a side section through the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a section on the line II-II of Figure 1.
  • Figure 3 is an overall view of the invention.
  • Figure 1 shows one of the two half-casings 1, each provided with suitable seats for receiving the pressurized liquid ducting means, which become locked in position when the two half-casings are closed and fixed together by screws.
In particular, the figure shows a connection element 2 for a possible external delivery lance and fitted into a double socket coupling 3, the other end of which represents the valve seat for the valving element 4.
The valving element is controlled for pressurized fluid delivery by the lever 5.
The pressurized liquid is fed into the valving element 4 via the profiled plastic tube 6 which has two socket-shaped ends, into one of which the valving element 4 is inserted, while into the other there is inserted one end of the double seal coupling 7.
Into the other end of the double seal coupling 7 there is inserted the metal connector 8 of the high pressure hose 9. The metal connector 8 is of cylindrical section and has an intermediate slot for receiving the stop 10.
The stop 10 is fork-shaped (see Figure 2) and forms a constraint for the metal connector 8 of the hose 9 such as to prevent its
longitudinal movement but without hindering its rotation.
The purpose of the stop 10 is therefore to prevent the metal connector 8 withdrawing from the double seal coupling 7 under the high pressure in play during the operation of the jet washer, but without preventing rotation of the hose 9 at high pressure, so avoiding undesirable twisting of the hose under high pressure.
As can be seen from Figure 3, to insert the hose 9 into the spray gun it is necessary merely to remove the stop 10 from the slot 11 provided in one of the two half-casings 1 of the spray gun, and insert the metal connector 8 of the hose 9 into the double seal coupling contained within the gun.
When the metal connector 8 has been inserted, the operation is concluded by re-inserting the stop 10 into the slot 11, and which when inserted is coplanar with the outer surface of the casing for safety reasons.
Figure 3 also shows a known tubular protection element 12 of rigid plastic construction, the purpose of which is to prevent excessive bending of the hose 9.
The same figure also shows a safety hook 13, the purpose of which is to prevent undesired delivery of pressurized fluid by locking the movement of the lever 5.
As is apparent from the description, the entire operation of inserting the hose 9 into the spray gun is carried out without having to open the gun half-casings, and is hence of simple and practical implementation.
