Abstract

The aerial has the external appearance of a shaft and is provided with a light source. The aerial itself comprises a light guide (9) with a part on the surface of the light guide (9T) which is designed to diffuse the light. The light source (10) is mounted outside the aerial itself. The light guide may be formed in one piece, with the diffusing section formed by treatment of the surface of the light guide material - for example by un-polishing the surface. This guide is then surrounded by the conducting wire forming the aerial in the form of a helicoidal spring. An outer translucent envelope may then cover the complete assembly. The aerial is attached to a portable telephone and the light source controlled to produce flashes of light.
