Description

The invention relates to a guide ring for a projectile according to the preamble of patent claim 1 .

The purpose of such guide rings is to guide the projectile in the weapon barrel when it is fired and to set it in rotation about the longitudinal axis (swirl). Such guide rings, which mostly consist of metallic materials, are known, for example, from DE-OS 37 36 167 or DE-OS 35 08 053 . Such guide rings have the disadvantage that the wear of the weapon barrel can be relatively high. However, the premature wear of the weapon barrel can be reduced if a suitable plastic is used as the material for the guide rings. The manufacture, assembly and attachment of such guide rings is relatively cumbersome and expensive. With DE-OS 35 25 854 a similar guide ring has become known which is formed from two half rings which can be firmly connected to one another by a snap lock. However, this guide ring is not firmly connected to the projectile shell, but is arranged to slide on it, so that only a residual twist can be given to the projectile when it is fired.

From DE-A-36 17 415 a guide ring of the type mentioned is known. This guide ring is part of an integral body designed as an intermediate sleeve, which extends from the sealing body to the center of the projectile tip with a varying inside and outside diameter. The construction is relatively complex, partly due to the separate sealing body.

The invention has for its object a guide ring of the type mentioned to propose that does not have the disadvantages mentioned above.

This object is achieved by features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1 . Here, the guide ring is not only firmly connected through openings in the projectile casing to a sealing body which is arranged on the rear of the projectile inside the projectile casing and is separate from the guide ring, but the guide ring and the sealing body are an integral element and become together with the sealing body during one step a manufacturing process by injecting a plastic into the shell through the open back.

The advantages achieved with the invention can be seen in the fact that the guide ring is simple Manufactured and firmly and securely connected to the projectile shell, with only low manufacturing costs.

Fig.3
The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment in conjunction with the drawing. Show it:
Fig.1

Fig.2
a longitudinal section of a projectile shell of the projectile according to Fig.1 , and
Figure 3
a cross section along the line III-III in Figure 2 on a larger scale, through part of the shell.

1 to 3 , 1 designates a casing which is formed from a projectile shell 2 and a projectile tip 3 firmly connected to the latter. The projectile tip 3, which preferably consists of a heat-resistant, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, is injected onto the projectile casing 3 in a first step of a manufacturing process, wherein it is anchored in grooves 4 which are arranged in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . The projectile tip 3 has a centering 6 , not shown and described, in which a projectile body 5 is guided and held. The projectile body 5 is pushed into the centering 6 of the projectile tip 3 through the projectile casing 2 , which is open on the rear, in a second step of the manufacturing process. 7 with a guide ring is designated, which is embedded in a circumferential groove 8 of the projectile shell 2 . The guide ring 7 is firmly connected through openings 9 in the projectile casing 2 to a sealing body 10 arranged on the rear of the projectile in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . The openings 9 can be, for example, six bores offset by an angle of 60 °, which are arranged radially in the region of the circumferential groove 8 . However, openings of a different shape and number are also possible.

The guide ring 7 is formed in a third step of the manufacturing process together with the sealing body 10 by injecting the same plastic used for the manufacture of the projectile tip 3 into the projectile casing 2 through its open rear side. The spray material penetrates from the projectile casing 2 through the openings 9 into the circumferential groove 8 and into circumferential grooves 11, 12 arranged in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . In addition, the spray material encloses the part of the projectile body 5 protruding from the centering 6 , so that it is firmly anchored in the projectile. In the circumferential groove 8 , a toothing 13 is provided which is in engagement with the guide ring 7 and thus contributes to the transmission of the swirl to the projectile.
