Description

Geldannahme- und -ausgabeautomatCash acceptance and dispensing machine
The invention relates to a cash receiving and dispensing machine with a bank note receiving point, a bank note checking and detection device, at least one buffer store for temporarily storing accepted bank notes, a bank note issuing point, and a plurality of storage units arranged in a secure housing for storage. Storage and / or delivery of banknotes and with transport devices which connect the receiving point, the issuing point, the testing and detection device and the storage units.
A cash receiving and dispensing machine of the type mentioned above is known, for example, from EP-B-24 704. In this known machine, the storage units contain storage cassettes from which banknotes can be transported to the issuing point and output over a first transport route. Accepted banknotes pass through a device for checking the authenticity and a device for determining the nominal value and, provided the authenticity of the banknotes is stored, are then stored in a buffer store assigned to the respective storage cassette in accordance with their nominal value. They can then be pushed from the intermediate store into the cassette with the aid of a stuffing device, so that they are available for payment again. In addition, a storage container is provided in which the entered banknotes can be stored regardless of their nominal value and can also be removed from the banknotes can. This storage container with a relatively large capacity can be emptied or reloaded as required. With this machine it can be achieved that the availability of the machine is increased and the time is extended until the storage cartridges have to be reloaded or emptied, but this is achieved with a relatively high technical outlay.
A similar automat is described in EP-B-148 310.
From DE-A-30 42 566, an automatic teller machine with a winding memory is known which is able to store entered banknotes one after the other and the object of the invention is to provide an automatic teller machine of the type mentioned at the beginning , which has a high storage capacity and thus availability, is technically simple and clearly structured and whose capacity can be changed without great technical effort.
This object is achieved in that at least one of the storage units contains an exchangeable storage cassette for banknotes to be issued, and that at least one storage unit has a winding memory for accepting, storing and issuing banknotes, that the storage units are connected to a common first transport path which is arranged together with the storage units in the secure housing and that the testing and detection device, the intermediate store and a second transport path connecting these units to the receiving and issuing point are arranged in a head part outside of the secure housing receiving the storage unit.
Accepted banknotes only reach the storage units via the first transport path when they have been checked for authenticity and if they have been secured is that the transaction can be completed successfully. If, on the other hand, there is any circumstance that does not guarantee successful completion of the transaction, the accepted banknotes can be quickly returned to the customer without the units housed in the secure housing being touched at all. Likewise, structural changes in the head part on the one hand or on the storage units in the secure housing on the other hand in no way affect the other unit. By using winding memories, accepted banknotes can be reissued without any great technical effort, so that the banknote supply in the storage cassettes is protected. This extends the time between two reloading processes and thus the availability of the ATM. The common transport path for all storage units enables the connection of further storage units in a simple manner and shortens the transaction times.
The constructional and manufacturing outlay for differently equipped banknote machines which are adapted to the needs of the users can be improved by modularly designing the machine, in that the second transport path with the testing and recognition device and the intermediate stores are combined to form a testing unit, the acceptance point and the output point together with a third transport path connecting them are combined to form an input / output unit and the three transport paths can be mutually connected via a switchable deflection point.
For accepted banknotes which have been recognized as genuine, but which, due to their denomination, for example, are not intended to be issued again, a collective store connected to the first transport path can additionally be provided in the secured housing. The winding storage units are preferably connected via a fourth transport path directly to a second input / output unit separate from the first input / output unit. This can be arranged, for example, on a side of the automated teller machine that is only accessible to bank employees and makes it possible to completely unload the winding store or to reload it with a certain supply of banknotes.
For the rapid buffering and outputting of the accepted banknotes into or out of the buffer store, it is expedient if it is designed as a winding store.
Es zeigen:Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description, which in connection with the accompanying drawings explains the invention using an exemplary embodiment. Show it:
Figur 1 einen schematischen Vertikalschnitt durch einen erfindungsgemäßen Bankautomaten und1 shows a schematic vertical section through an automated teller machine according to the invention and
Figur 2 eine vergrößerte Darstellung der in dem Kopf- teil des Bankautomaten angeordneten Einga¬ be/Ausgabeeinheit und Prüfeinheit .FIG. 2 shows an enlarged illustration of the input / output unit and test unit arranged in the head part of the automated teller machine.
The automated teller machine shown in FIG. 1 comprises an outer housing 10 with a head part 12 and a base part 14, which includes an inner, secure housing or a safe 16. The head part 12 has a user surface 18 with an input opening 20 and an output opening 22. An input / output unit 24, a test unit 26 and a deflection unit 28 are arranged inside the head part above the safe 16, which are explained in more detail with reference to FIG.
In the safe 16, two cassette storage units 30, 32 are provided which are exchanged in a manner known per se. bare memory cassettes 31, 33 and separating devices for removing stored banknotes. Furthermore, two winding storage units 34 and 36 are arranged in the safe, which are known per se and serve to store incoming banknotes and to release them in the opposite order if necessary. It goes without saying that the number of cassette storage units and the winding storage units can be as desired within the scope of the available space. In addition to the storage units described, a collective storage 38 is also provided for banknotes that have been accepted and found to be genuine, but which, for certain reasons, are not intended for payment again. The stores 30 to 38 are connected to a common first vertical transport track 40, which can transport banknotes in both directions and is connected to the respective storage unit by suitable switches.
Finally, a receptacle 42 for rejected and withdrawn banknotes is provided above the collecting store 38 and is connected to the issuing point.
The input / output unit 24 comprises an acceptance point with an input compartment 44 into which the customer can insert a bundle of banknotes 46, and with a separating device 48 which separates the inserted banknotes and feeds a transport path 50 to the input / output unit. The unit 24 further comprises an output point with an output compartment 52 in which banknotes to be output via a scale wheel 54 are collected into a bundle 56, the banknotes being fed to the transport path 50 via a second arm. A number of light barriers, not shown in more detail, monitors the presence of the bank notes in the input compartment 44 and / or the output compartment 52 within the input / output unit 24, the separation of the banknotes and their passage over the transport track 50.
The checking unit 26 comprises an authenticity checking device 58 and an intermediate storage 60 designed as a winding store. The bank notes entered by a customer are checked for authenticity in the checking device 58 and temporarily stored in the intermediate storage 60 until all the bank notes of the bundle have been checked. The banknotes are then output again via a third transport path 62 of the test unit 26, which connects the test device to the intermediate storage 60.
The transport path 40, which leads into or out of the safe 16, the transport path 50 of the input / output unit 24 and the transport path 62 of the test unit 26 are functionally connected to one another by a deflection unit 28. The deflection unit 28 connects the individual transport tracks to one another by way of switches, not shown, connected via lifting magnets 64 such that the banknotes are deflected in the directions indicated by the arrows as a function of corresponding control signals. Entered banknotes are thus either fed to the checking unit 26 or, in the case of a defect which has already been determined, are returned directly to the issuing point. Checked banknotes are either switched by the checking unit 26 to the transport track 40 and thus to the door 16 or are likewise fed to the issuing point. Banknotes removed from the safe are sent directly to the issuing office.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the winding storage devices 34 and 36 within the safe are connected via a fourth transport track 66 to a further output compartment 68 located on the rear side of the housing 10, which is only accessible to bank employees. Via this further input / output unit 68 can the winding stores are loaded or unloaded if necessary so that they are again receptive to banknotes to be entered.
The input / output unit 68 can also be in the access area of a cashier's place. In this case, it is expedient to also feed banknotes from the storage units 30, 32 to the fourth transport path 66.
