Rückgabe von Banknoten über» wacht und steuert, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Transportsystem einen Transportpfad (T) bildet, der in einen ersten Abschnitt (Tl) und einen zweiten Abschnitt (T2) aufgeteilt ist, wobei erster Abschnitt (Tl) und zweiter Abschnitt (T2) im wesentlichen linear ausgebildet sind und mittels einer Umlenkung (50) miteinander so verbunden sind, daß sich erster Abschnitt (Tl) und zweiter Abschnitt (T2) gegenüber liegen, wobei die Transportrichtung im ersten Abschnitt (Tl) aus Sicht des Fachs (10) in Richtung in die Vorrichtung für die Annahme und Ausgabe bzw. Rückgabe von Banknoten hinein weist und im zweiten Abschnitt (T2) eine gegenläufige Richtung aufweist, und wobei, die Bestandteile der Vorrichtung für die Annahme und Ausgabe bzw. Rückgabe von Banknoten entlang des ersten und zweiten Abschnitts (Tl , T2) des Transportpfads (T) des Transportsy- stems angeordnet sind.
