Claims (3)
- A bed base comprising a support made up of plastics bands for a mattress, the bed base being of the type comprising a structural frame (1) preferably made of tubular metal bars, covered by a set of bands (2) made of synthetic material, said bands being mounted individually under tension so as to be tight on the frame (1) and being closed by means of overlapping and heatsealed ends, the bed base being characterized in that the bands (2) are made of a material that presents high resistance to deformation while possessing a certain amount of elasticity, and in that most of the bands (2) are disposed transversely relative to the frame (1), being placed consecutively one after another to form a continuous surface, covering the entire inside surface defined by the frame, while a few bands (2) are placed at wider spacing in the longitudinal direction, which bands are interwoven with the transverse bands (2) so as to hold the assembly together.
- A bed base according to claim 1, characterized in that the bands (2) are made of a material such as extruded plastics, having a thickness of 0.5 millimeters, and a width of 12 millimeters so that on the frame of a 190 centimeters by 140 centimeters bed there are incorporated about 150 bands (2) disposed in the transverse direction and about 10 to 12 bands (2) in the longitudinal direction.
- A bed base according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the frame (1) is a high strength frame, being provided with metal tubing having a cross-section of 100 millimeters by 40 millimeters and a thickness of 2.25 millimeters, for a 190 by 140 centimeter bed.
