Description

The present invention relates to a device for securing to the inside of a container of submunitions loaded inside a launcher tube on aircraft or missile type devices, in particular.

To allow the release of submunitions from their container during their ejection from the vehicle on which they are loaded, it is known to use devices capable of carrying out rapid release of these, such as for example straps break, or even explosive bolts. To be effective, these devices are dimensioned to withstand significant roll forces especially which appear when the container is released from the tube launcher. The advantage of using a launcher tube is that it allows better container attitude and therefore good control of speeds and lateral accelerations thanks in particular to a grooving of the walls interior of the launcher tube which prints a rotation of the container at the time of its ejection. This type of ejection usually requires the use of air bags placed between the submunitions and the container walls and a retaining strap to hold the submunitions until the pressure in the bags has reached a sufficient value to ensure the desired ejection speed. The strap is then breaks, and the submunitions are ejected thanks to the thrust delivered by the bags. Usually the strap performs both functions which are to secure the submunitions in the container and to control the pressure in the bags to regulate the conditions for ejecting the submunition. However, in some applications, sometimes the implementations of these two functions are incompatible with each other, especially when looking for a low acceleration at ejection which requires using a low strap breaking force, whereas a high breaking force must also be available to ensure a strong maintenance of the submunitions during strong accelerations that may occur during flight. Devices such tie-downs are described, for example, in DE-A-36 02 947 and US-A-2 972 946.

The object of the invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks.

To this end, the invention relates to a device for securing to the inside of a container of submunitions loaded inside a launcher tube according to the configuration defined in the claim 1.

The advantage of the invention is that, thanks to the use of front and rear straps provide firm hold of submunitions at when the container is launched, thus avoiding an escape early submunitions by rupture of the central strap. She permits also to print a maximum thrust at the ejection of the submunitions ensuring perfect inflation of the ejection bags and modulating acceleration of ejection regardless of the holding efforts necessary for the previous phases.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly in the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings which represent:
  • FIG. 1, a perspective view of a securing device according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2, the device of FIG. 1 shown in front view, and
  • Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of the device shown in Figure 1.

The lashing device according to the invention which is shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 is intended to maintain inside a container 1 a specified number of rocket or bomb submunitions 2 per example, oblong and cylindrical and possibly having a tail to provide them with good flight stability. To carry the submunitions the container 1 is compartmentalized by a number of compartments 3 equal to the number of submunitions to be transported. In the example of Figures 1, 2 and 3, the compartments 3 are separated from each other by rectangular partitions 4 fixed by one of their largest side the along a central beam 5 which extends over the entire length of the container 1. The stowage of a submunition in a compartment 3 is secured by three straps 3a, 3b and 3c, called respectively below, front strap, back strap and intermediate or central strap. These straps each surround a portion of submunition. They are tense by one of their ends around the submunition 2 which they enclose, by tensioning screws 6, or any other equivalent tensioning means, fixed on the partitions 4. Pyrotechnic shears 7 enclose the screws tension 6 of the front and rear straps to separate the submunitions before they are ejected from container 1. No shears central pyrotechnic is not intended to separate the central strap 3c of the submunition, however its breaking strength is calibrated means for example of a notch 8 cut in the direction of its width, to allow the central strap alone to maintain momentary of the submunition in its compartment when the straps front and rear are released. To perform the resistance calibration of the central strap, both the weight of the submunition and the centrifugal force that is exerted on the submunition by the rotation of the container 1 after its ejection from the launcher tube. Bags pyrotechnics 9 are arranged between the body of the submunitions and partitions 4 to allow during their inflation the extension of the central strap 3c and its rupture to ensure ejection of submunitions out of their compartment with reduced acceleration and well under control. The bags 9 are inflated by a cane pyrotechnic 10 housed inside the central beam 5 in its direction longitudinal. The rotation of the container 1 during its ejection from the launcher tube is ensured by keys 11 arranged on the side of the bulkheads opposite to that which is fixed to the central beam 5 and engaged on ramps or in helical grooves formed inside the launcher tube.

Thus produced, the device according to the invention makes it possible to maintain very strongly the submunitions inside their compartment by the action of the straps 3a, 3b and 3c front and rear at the time of ejection of the container 1 outside the launch tube. Subsequently, during the flight and before ejecting submunitions 2 from container 1, shears pyrotechnics cut the core of the tensioning screws 6 to release the front and rear straps. These are then ejected from container 1 by the simple call of air which is produced, and the central strap 3c then ensures to it only the temporary maintenance of the submunitions against the only efforts which are applied to submunitions occurring during this flight phase and which are much less than those applied to them during ejection of the launcher tube mainly due to the slowing down of the speed container rotation by air resistance. In this way, the ejection submunitions can take place with reduced acceleration and well controlled by the inflation of the pyrotechnic bags 9.

Naturally, the invention remains applicable to the dropping of a any number of submunitions and whatever forms that can be given to the container.

Other variant embodiments of the invention are also possible especially with regard to the release system of straps which can be simplified by providing for example only one pyrotechnic shears for the two front and rear straps.
