- the invention relates to a method for making expanded paper honeycomb core material moisture- or waterproof, as well as the honeycomb core material obtained by using this method.
- Paper honeycomb core material is often used as a stiff and light construction material. In a number of applications it is necessary for the paper honeycomb core material to be moisture- or waterproof, as for example in construction panels for outside use, for use in transport and for use in floors and such like. In these cases, the honeycomb core material is usually delivered in moisture- and waterproof condition, after which the user himself provides one or both sides of the honeycomb core material with a cover layer of plastic or metal, for example.
- Paper honeycomb core material is obtained by glueing a number of strips of paper onto each other at certain places, and, after the glue has dried, expanding this parcel of paper by pulling the outer strips of paper apart laterally, thus obtaining the hexagonal cellular structure. After the expanded shape has been stabilized, the honeycomb core material is cut into slices of the desired thickness, which are further used as honeycomb core in honeycomb panels, for example.

Claims (10)
- Verfahren um ausgedehntes, Papierhonigwabekernmaterial feuchtigkeitsbeständig oder wasserfest zu machen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Honigwabekernmaterial nach dem Ausdehnen mit einer Beschichtung versehen wird.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Beschichtung als ein Pulver von Polymermaterial angeordnet wird.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Pulver angeordnet wird durch das Papierhonigwabekernmaterial und das Pulver eine entgegengesetzte elektrische Ladung zu geben.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Papierhonigwabekernmaterial vor dem Anordnen des Pulvers mit Wasser befeuchtet wird.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Befeuchten durch das Besprühen mit Wasser stattfindet, wobei vorzugsweise eine derartige Menge Wasser benutzt wird, daß einen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt gleich an 15 - 30 Gewichtsprozentsatz vom Honigwabepapier erzielt wird.
- Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 2 bis einschließlich 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß einen thermoaushärtbaren Polyester oder ein Epoxid für das Polymerpulver benutzt wird.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Honigwabekernmaterial nach dem Anordnen des thermoaushärtbaren Pulvers erhitzt wird, um das Pulver zu einer festen und dichten Beschichtung zerfließen zu lassen und um das beschichtete Honigwabekernmaterial in ausgedehnter Lage zu stabilisieren.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Erhitzen mit Hilfe heisser Luft ausgeführt wird.
- Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Erhitzen mit Infrarotstrahlung ausgeführt wird.
- Papierhonigwabekernmaterial mit einer Beschichtung versehen, mit dem Verfahren gemäß einem der vorabgehenden Ansprüche erzielt.
