Cooperating angled cuts 23 and arcuate cuts 24 constitute formations for locating and retaining top flanges 25 provided on the pots 12.
  • Lower sub-panels 26, 27 are hingedly connected to the respective side panels 20, 21 along folds 28 and first and second base panels 29, 30 are in turn hingedly connected to the lower sub-panels 26, 27 along folds 31.
  • Apertures 32 are provided at the junction of the lower sub-panels, side panels and base panels for receiving the heel portions 13 of the pots 12 when the sleeve 11 is assembled around the pots 12.
  • Cut into the first base panel 29 are a pair of generally rectangular keel panels 33 which remain hingedly connected to the first base panel 29 along generally parallel folds 34. Between the folds, tab portions 35 are cut into the first base panel 29 and remain hingedly connected to the first base panel by virtue of folds 36 which are substantially perpendicular to the folds 34.
  • the tab portions 35 have lateral projections 37 which, in the assembled sleeve 11 engage in holes 38 formed in the keel panels 33, as will be explained later.
  • the four pots 12 are arranged in a 2 X 2 array with the top flanges 25 in contact with each other or at least in very close proximity. This leaves a space between the heel portions 13 of the pots 12 in adjacent rows.
  • top panel 14 of the blank 10 is placed over the pots 12 and the remaining panels are folded down such that the top flanges 25 are engaged and retained in the openings formed by the angled cuts 23 and arcuate cuts 24. (See figure 2).
  • the keel panels 33 are then folded upwardly about the parallel folds 34 so as to be generally perpendicular to the first base panel 29.

This results in a secure multipack with minimised movement of the pots.
  • the precise shape and size of the keel panels 33 and tab portions 35 are a matter of design choice. Indeed more or less tab portions could be provided especially if more pots were provided in each row.
  • the apertures 32 are an optional feature as are the top flange retaining formations. The provision of these features or other such retaining features, it has been found, increase the integrity of the resulting multipack.

Claims (9)

  1. Un dispositif de retenue en carton (11) pour une pluralité d'articles (12) arrangés en rangées, chaque article (12) présentant une conicité vers l'intérieur et vers son talon (13), ledit dispositif (11) contenant une pluralité d'articles arrangés en rangées et comportant un panneau supérieur (14), des panneaux latéraux disposés face à face (20,21) connectés de façon articulée au panneau supérieur (14) et des moyens à panneaux de base (29,30) connectés de façon articulée aux panneaux latéraux (20,21), lesdits moyens à panneaux de base (29,30) ayant une paire de panneaux de calage dressés vers le haut (33) à disposer dans l'espace entre les articles (12) d'une paire de rangées adjacentes et au moins une languette d'écartement (35) pour maintenir la paire de panneaux de calage (33) écartés, les deux panneaux de calage (33) étant découpés à partir des moyens à panneaux de base (29,30) et demeurant connectés à ceux-ci de façon articulée le long d'une paire de lignes de pliage respectives sensiblement parallèles (34), dans lequel la languette d'écartement ou chaque languette d'écartement (35) est découpée à partir de l'espace compris entre lesdites lignes de pliage (34) des panneaux de calage et demeure connectée de façon articulée aux moyens à panneaux de base (29,30) par le biais d'un pli de languette (36) qui est sensiblement perpendiculaire aux lignes de pliage (34) des panneaux de calage, caractérisé en ce que les panneaux de calage (33) et les languettes d'écartement (35) sont tous formés dans le même panneau de base des moyens à panneaux de base (29,30).
  2. Un dispositif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la languette ou chaque languette (35) est dotée de formations (37) pour coopérer avec des formations correspondantes (38) sur les panneaux de calage (33).
  3. Un dispositif selon la revendication 2, dans lequel les formations de languette (37) comportent des saillies latérales et les formations correspondantes (38) comportent des trous pour recevoir les formations (37).
  4. Un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, dans lequel deux languettes d'écartement (35) sont prévues entre chaque paire de panneaux de calage (33).
  5. Un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, dans lequel les panneaux de calage (33) sont d'une forme généralement rectangulaire, les lignes d'articulation (34) étant placées sur un côté long du rectangle.
  6. Un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 5, dans lequel les moyens à panneaux de base (29,30) comportent deux panneaux (29,30) qui sont fixés ensemble.
  7. Un dispositif selon la revendication 6, dans lequel les deux panneaux de base (29,30) sont fixés au moyen d'un adhésif ou par des formations imbriquées.
  8. Un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, dans lequel le dispositif (11) est adapté pour retenir les sommets (25) et/ou les bases (13) des articles au moyen de découpes (23,24) et/ou de formations (32).
  9. Un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, dans lequel le dispositif (11) est adapté pour ne recevoir que deux rangées d'articles (12) et a une seule paire de panneaux de calage (33).
