Description

The invention relates to a method and a weaving machine for handling a weft thread according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

In the case of weaving machines, it is known to provide so-called auxiliary warp threads in addition to the actual warp threads on the fabric edges. The auxiliary warp threads are guided in an auxiliary reed. A greater or lesser distance is provided between the fabric warp threads and the auxiliary warp threads, so that e.g. an insertion device and a cutting device can be arranged. The task of the auxiliary warp threads, also referred to in its entirety as a catch strip, is to take up the weft thread and to ensure its tension, so that the weft thread can be cut off properly by the cutting device. This will u. a. also achieved in connection with a so-called stretch nozzle, which detects the weft thread as it exits the weft channel and keeps it under tension.

The catch rail is usually a few centimeters wide and, once it has fulfilled its purpose, is considered a waste product. So it accumulates a not insignificant amount of fabric remnants, so that an increased material consumption, ie. H. Warp and weft consumption and thus higher costs than are absolutely necessary.

The object of the invention is to propose a method and a device for handling the weft thread in weaving machines of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the use of the catch strips can be dispensed with.

This problem is solved by the technical teaching of claim 1.

An essential feature of the invention is that the use of catch strips is completely avoided and the weaving machine has a suction device which is arranged in the area of the insertion device in front of the first weft guard.

The suction device is located in the vacant space between the insertion head / cutting device and the first weft monitor, which space was occupied by the auxiliary warp threads (catch strips) in the prior art.

Erfindungsgemäß entfallen also die Fangleisten.According to the invention, the catch strips are therefore eliminated.

The suction device has the task of taking over the weft thread caught by the stretching nozzle after successful thread insertion and keeping it tensioned so that the thread can be cut by the cutting device. After cutting, the remaining thread is removed by the suction device.

An advantage of the arrangement of the suction device according to the invention is that the use of auxiliary warp threads (catch strips) can be dispensed with entirely, thereby saving material and costs.

It is also advantageous that the suction device is arranged in the space made free by the omission of the catch strips, so that it is not necessary to dispense with other important components for reasons of space.

According to the prior art, it was necessary to adapt the spreader to the desired fabric width. The advantage of the new design is that the spreader does not have to be adjusted to the width of the fabric, since the use of auxiliary warp threads is eliminated.

The subject matter of the present invention results not only from the subject matter of the individual patent claims, but also from the combination of the individual patent claims with one another.

All of the information and features disclosed in the documents, including the summary, in particular the spatial design shown in the drawings are claimed to be essential to the invention, insofar as they are new to the prior art, individually or in combination.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of drawings which illustrate only one embodiment. Here, from the drawings and their description, further features and advantages of the invention that are essential to the invention emerge.

In the rear position of the reed 1, the fixed filler 2 adjoins the reed 1, which has the task of lengthening the weft channel of the reed 1 and ensuring a successful weft insertion. At the level of the filler piece 2, an insertion device 3 is arranged in the stop position of the reed 1. A first weft monitor 4 follows, which is arranged on a weft monitor holder 5. This is followed by the stretching nozzle 6, which has a channel 14, a second weft monitor 7 being arranged at the end of this channel.

Between the insertion device 3 and the first weft monitor 4, a suction device 8 with a suction opening 8a is now arranged according to the invention, which works with a vacuum pump 9. A collecting container 10 is provided for sucked-off thread remnants.

The mode of operation of the weft thread handling according to the invention can best be seen in connection with FIGS. 2 and 3.

One can see in FIG. 1 an insertion nozzle 12 which introduces the weft thread 16 into the weft channel of the reed 1 and thus into the shed 19. With the help of auxiliary nozzles 13, the weft thread 16 is guided in the weft channel 1a. In the filler 2, the weft channel 1a is continued, so that the front section of the thread reaches the area of the filler 2 up to the first weft guard 4, the stretching nozzle 6 taking action, which detects the front section of the thread and keeps the thread taut .

As can be seen from FIG. 3, the reed 1 now moves with the necessary ones Devices forward from the rear position to strike the weft 16 against the fabric.

The front section of the weft thread 16 is thus held and stretched in the stretching nozzle 6. The suction device 8 according to the invention is now activated, the drawing nozzle 6 being deactivated at the same time, so that the weft thread is transferred from the drawing nozzle 6 to the suction device 8 and is held under tension by the latter.

At least part of the front weft section can be cut off by a cutting device 11. The cut-off part of the thread section remains in the suction device and is transported through it into the collecting container 10.

The remaining thread on the fabric 21 can be inserted or returned by a known insertion device 3 on the fabric edge into a shed formed after the weft stop.
