Abstract

The mechanism is made from a fastening strip (1), rings (2) and screws (3), all moulded together in one piece from a plastics material. When required for use, the screws are separated from the strip and fitted through holes (17) in the strip and into prepared holes in the cover of the binder. They are tightened with the aid of a coin in the screw head slots. The rings are also detached from the strip and fitted by shaped lugs (5) engaging with matching recesses (8) in the strip so that they lie perpendicular to it. The tips of the rings' open ends are shaped to engage when pushed together and release when pulled apart. The mechanism can be re-used with a new binder cover when the old one has to be discarded.
