Abstract

A television broadcast receiving device for receiving a broadcast signal including a main picture part image signal transmitted in letterbox format and a resolution-enhancing signal for enhancing vertical resolution of the main picture part image signal transmitted using a scanning line composing a black band area, the television broadcast receiving device comprising an interleaver for processing the main picture part image signal and the resolution enhancing signal so as to be outputted in a prescribed order, a vertical filtering processor for smoothing continuity of the signal in the vertical direction lost at the interleaver and a delayer for alternately delaying a first field signal outputted from the interleaver and a second field signal outputted from the vertical filtering processor by a prescribed period, and being provided in such a manner that device cost is lowered as a result of using less memory.
