    Claims (3)

    1. Machine for overwrapping baggage (4) of users of any mode of transport and in particular air transport, comprising, successively, from upstream to downstream, a baggage arrival station (1) comprising an upstream inlet conveyor (6) on which the baggage (4) to be wrapped is placed flat, and a security control apparatus (19, 21) disposed so as to make it possible to make a visual control of the interior of each piece of baggage (4) placed flat on the upstream conveyor (6), a station (2) for forming a tubular protective envelope, made of shrinkable thermoplastics material, around each piece of baggage, comprising an intermediate enveloping conveyor (7), and a tunnel oven (3) for shrinkage through which extends a downstream conveyor (8), the endless conveyors (6, 7, 8) extending horizontally and being aligned and driven in the same direction, so as to obtain at the exit of the oven (3), further to the shrinkage of the plastics material, totally overwrapped baggage, characterized in that it comprises a common housing (9) insulating from the outside all the elements constituting the overwrapping machine and the security control apparatus (19, 21) and ejection means which make it possible, when a piece of baggage (4) is indicated as being suspect by the safety control apparatus (19, 21), to stop advance of said baggage (4) inside the enclosure (9) and to ensure ejection thereof immediately after detection and before the baggage (4) is admitted to the station (2) forming the protective envelope.
    2. Machine according to Claim 1, characterized in that the ejection means are constituted by reverser means which reverse the direction of displacement of at least the upstream conveyor (6), manually or automatically.
    3. Machine according to one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the common housing (9) comprises an upstream frontal wall (11) behind which is placed the security control apparatus (19, 21), and this upstream frontal wall (11) presents an opening (13) for the inlet of the baggage (4) on the upstream conveyor (6), this opening being obturated by a flexible curtain.
