Abstract
An improved process for blood gas analysis sensor increases the measurement accuracy of pulse oxymeters used to determine oxygen saturation of arterial blood. For that purpose, light absorption is measured, taking into account blood perfusion in the organic tissues. By injecting medical dyes into a patient, the whole saturation range may be simulated for calibrating a pulse oxymeter.
