Definitions

  • the invention relates to a drill sleeve, according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Drill sleeves are widely used in osteosynthesis, both for drilling, tapping and in some cases for inserting bone screws, Kirschner wires, Schanz screws or Steinmann nails. There are multiple reasons for that.
  • drill sleeves prevent the soft tissue from being wound up on the rotating instrument. They also prevent the rotating instrument from slipping and serve as a guide for operations such as drilling, tapping and inserting the implant.
  • plate osteosynthesis they are used to find the correct borehole in the plate hole by means of a shape that is specially adapted to the plate symmetry.
  • drill sleeves supplemented by a trocar, serve to find a constant drilling and insertion channel.
  • EP-Al 0 460 447 shows a compression drill sleeve, in particular for plate osteosynthesis.
  • a disadvantage of this and other drill sleeves according to the prior art is the considerable frictional heat that occurs when drilling and inserting the implants.
  • machining the bone by drilling or tapping a large part of the mechanical work is converted into heat.
  • the same applies to the insertion of implants since the heat is generated by the friction between the implant and the bone. This heat can lead to thermal damage to the bone or soft tissue.
  • the invention seeks to remedy this.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a drill sleeve in which the coolant can be introduced directly into the drill sleeve, so that neither the instruments nor the drilling machine have to be converted.
  • the invention solves this problem with a drill sleeve which has the features of claim 1.
  • the invention can be implemented in various ways in which the coolant is always introduced directly into the drill sleeve.
  • the advantage that can be achieved with the invention lies in the fact that in this way the coolant, which consists of physiological saline solution or ring solution, reaches the working area directly and thus leads to an immediate and effective temperature reduction.
  • FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the drill sleeve according to the invention
  • FIG. 2 shows a cross section along the line II-II in FIG. 1, 3 shows a longitudinal section through a double-walled drill sleeve, - and
  • FIG. 4 represents a cross section along the line IV-IV in FIG. 3.
  • the drill sleeve shown in FIG. 1 essentially consists of a hollow cylinder 7 which has a handle 9.
  • the hollow cylinder 7 has an upper end 1 for the introduction of an instrument or implant and a lower end which can be placed on the bone and is designed as a serrated crown 2.
  • the grip 9 is designed as a coolant connection 3 and has a channel 4 running inside for this purpose. through which coolant can be introduced directly into the interior 5 of the drill sleeve.
  • the coolant connection 3 has a connecting piece 11 for a hose, so that coolant can be introduced into the drill sleeve by means of a syringe, which cools the instrument, the implant and the bone.
  • the hollow cylinder 7 has longitudinal grooves 6 in order to facilitate the circulation of the coolant in the interior 5 of the drill sleeve.
  • 3 and 4 a double-walled design of the drill sleeve is shown. It is constructed in the same way as the embodiment according to FIG. 1, except that a further hollow cylinder 8 is arranged in the hollow cylinder 7, so that a cavity 10 is formed between the two hollow cylinders 7, 8, which is connected to the channel 4 of the handle 9 and in which coolant can be introduced through the coolant connection 3.
