Abstract

The cleaner has a suction/pressure housing (11) with an intake (12). The intake is situated in a plane parallel to the surface being cleaned and at a short distance from the surface. A pressure outlet (13) is connected to a detachable debris collector (17). The housing contains an ejector with a nozzle (14) connected to a pressurised water source, and a Venturi diffusor (15). The ejector is connected to the pressurised water source by a pipe of which part is formed by a corrugated section (10). The water flow through it and is pulsed to produce an alternating expansion and retraction of the corrugated section. This causes the cleaner housing to advance over the surface being cleaned.

Description

The present invention relates to the cleaning of swimming pools, basins, spas or the like. In particular, the invention relates to an automatic device for cleaning the bottom and walls of a swimming pool.

  • Les appareils intégrés à la structure de la piscine : ils consistent à mettre en suspension les débris divers de sorte que ces derniers soient ensuite aspirés par les dispositifs de filtration de la piscine. Ces appareils sont automatiques et efficaces, mais relativement coûteux et doivent être prévus à la construction de la piscine ;
To maintain clear water, it is essential to clean the pool regularly. For this purpose, there are several types of devices that can be broadly classified into four categories:
  • The devices integrated into the pool structure: they consist of suspending various debris so that they are then sucked in by the pool's filtration devices. These devices are automatic and efficient, but relatively expensive and must be provided for the construction of the pool;
  • autonomous devices or robots: these are small autonomous units that move at the bottom and on the walls of the pool by filtering the water. These electrically powered units are autonomous and independent of the pool filtration system, but they are relatively expensive and unreliable due to their complexity.
  • vacuum cleaners slaved to the swimming pool filtration device, such as that shown schematically in FIG. 1. The suction circuit of the swimming pool P comprising a bottom drain 1, suction and skimming spouts on the surface or skimmers 2, a pump 3, a filter 4, a discharge mouth 5 and a pipe 6 connecting the different elements together, the vacuum cleaner 7 is connected by a flexible pipe 8 of the accordion-wall type to one of the skimmers 2. The bottom drain 1 and the unused skimmers must be closed during the operation of the vacuum cleaner 7. The vacuum cleaner 7 moves by at - cuts either thanks to a turbine which drives wheels or skids, or because of the phenomenon of periodic constriction-stretching of said pipe, these jerks being caused by a device for cyclic interruption of the flow of water sucked which creates a strong depression.

These vacuum cleaners are simple and inexpensive in design. However, they have many disadvantages.

The bottom drain and the skimmers not affected by the suction having to be closed, the recycling of water carried out by them on the surface and at the bottom of the pool is eliminated or greatly reduced during the use of the vacuum cleaner.

Aspiration must be started by filling the entire circuit with water. As a result, it is necessary to monitor the operation of the vacuum cleaner to verify that it does not defuse, which can happen during its movements.

The debris is entrained in the pre-filter of the skimmer used and, in part, in the pump 3 and the filter 4. Thus, the pre-filters and filters are clogged, hence the risk of clogging of the latter, as well as pump cavitation and defusing. These vacuum cleaners are therefore not practical or easy to use.

Finally, for devices which move by interruption of the suction, the jolts caused cyclically in the pipe connecting the vacuum cleaner to the skimmer are transmitted to the entire installation and risk, in the long run, of '' Damage in particular the suction circuit pump.
  • The last category of cleaning devices consists of devices operating in discharge according to the ejector principle, such as that described in document FR-2-586 051 issued in the name of the Applicant.

The device described in this document comprises a housing provided with a suction mouth located a short distance from the surface to be cleaned. This device is weighted so suitable so that, throughout its movement, the suction mouth remains as close as possible to the surface to be cleaned. All the water discharged from the pool discharge mouth is available for the operation of the ejector, the jet ensuring both the suction of debris and the movement of the device in the pool. It is simple and inexpensive in design and overcomes the drawbacks of vacuum cleaners that operate on suction.

But this device still has some drawbacks. Indeed, its ballast only allows it to move on the bottom of the pool or on slightly sloping walls. For example, he cannot clean the vertical walls. In addition, it has a low capacity for collecting and storing debris.

There are still other devices that operate in backflow. However, their displacement is obtained by devices (in particular turbine or pressurized water jet) which constantly draw off part of the water supplied to the nozzle of the ejector, which greatly reduces the efficiency of the device. This is why some of these devices must be connected to a booster to operate. These devices are also weighted and cannot move on the substantially vertical walls. They are more complex than the device cited in document FR-2-586 051 and are less reliable and more expensive than the latter.

The present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the devices described above by proposing a device operating in discharge of simple design, which is reliable, which makes it possible in particular to clean the bottom and the substantially vertical walls of the swimming pool, which does not require for move from continuous sampling of the water supplied to the ejector, so that it can operate automatically while being only connected to a discharge opening in the swimming pool.

  • un corps d'aspiration-refoulement présentant un orifice ou bouche d'aspiration disposé dans un plan sensiblement parallèle à la surface à nettoyer, à une faible distance de cette surface, et un orifice de refoulement ;
  • un éjecteur comportant une buse motrice susceptible d'être reliée à une source d'eau sous pression, et un diffuseur à venturi ;
  • un moyen amovible de recueil des débris ;
    caractérisé en ce que ledit éjecteur est disposé dans le corps et la buse est susceptible d'être reliée notamment à une bouche de refoulement de la piscine par un conduit dont une partie est formée par un tuyau souple à paroi accordéon, et en ce qu'il comporte un moyen de propulsion constitué par un dispositif pour créer entre ladite bouche de refoulement et ladite buse un échappement momentané et répété, vers l'extérieur, de l'eau sous pression dudit conduit, en sorte de créer, à la manière connue, un déplacement de l'appareil par constriction-étirement répété dudit tuyau souple.
To this end, the subject of the invention is an automatic cleaning device in particular for a swimming pool, comprising:
  • a suction-discharge body having a suction orifice or mouth disposed in a plane substantially parallel to the surface to be cleaned, at a short distance from this surface, and a discharge orifice;
  • an ejector comprising a driving nozzle capable of being connected to a source of pressurized water, and a venturi diffuser;
  • a removable means for collecting debris;
    characterized in that said ejector is disposed in the body and the nozzle is capable of being connected in particular to a discharge opening of the swimming pool by a conduit, part of which is formed by a flexible pipe with an accordion wall, and in that it comprises a propulsion means constituted by a device for creating between said discharge mouth and said nozzle a temporary and repeated exhaust, towards the outside, of the pressurized water from said conduit, so as to create, in the known manner, displacement of the apparatus by repeated constriction-stretching of said flexible pipe.

Unlike the vacuum cleaner 7 of the prior art, which is connected to the skimmer 2, the device 9 according to the invention is connected to the discharge mouth 5 by a flexible pipe 10 of the known type with an accordion wall. The pipe 10 is of great length, namely of length at least greater than the largest dimension of the swimming pool.

The upper end of said conduit forms the discharge orifice 13 to the right of which is mounted the debris receptacle 17. A small side suction window 20 is formed on the body 11, in line with the flange 18.

I (figure 7).The conduit 16 is bent and comprises a part 16a with a horizontal axis H perpendicular to the axis of the body 11 and penetrating into the latter and a part 16b with an inclined axis I (FIG. 7).

Le tuyau souple 10 est raccordé par tous moyens appropriés au conduit 16b.The flexible hose 10 is connected by any suitable means to the conduit 16b.

The nozzle 14 is arranged vertically, coaxially with the body 11 and laterally with the supply duct 16a, and defines a horizontal nozzle. The section of the nozzle 14 tapers progressively from the duct 16a to the nozzle which defines a narrow outlet generating a water jet with a vertical axis.

La section du conduit 16 est par exemple de l'ordre de la moitié de celle du corps 11.The section of the duct 16 is for example of the order of half that of the body 11.

Par ailleurs, le conduit 16 se prolonge en dehors du corps 11, à l'opposé de la partie 16b, par une partie 16c munie de ladite vanne de décharge cyclique 19.Furthermore, the conduit 16 is extended outside the body 11, opposite the part 16b, by a part 16c provided with said cyclic discharge valve 19.

Le dif fuseur 15 présente un col 15a situé sensiblement au droit de l'ajutage de la buse 14.The dif fuseur 15 has a neck 15a located substantially in line with the nozzle of the nozzle 14.

The debris receptacle 17 is removable and of openwork structure. It acts as a filter allowing the water coming from the outlet orifice 13 to pass while retaining the entrained debris.

The extension 16c of the conduit 16 is cylindrical and has a perforated circular bottom 21, the center of which is provided with an axis 22 carrying a turbine 23.

Au voisinage du fond ajouré 21, le conduit 16c comporte deux lumières symétriques 24.In the vicinity of the perforated bottom 21, the duct 16c comprises two symmetrical openings 24.

Le diamètre intérieur du manchon 25 est légèrement supérieur au diamètre extérieur du conduit 16c.The turbine 23 is formed by a cylindrical sleeve, called the inner sleeve 25, which caps the extension 16c. The inside diameter of the sleeve 25 is slightly greater than the outside diameter of the conduit 16c.

This inner sleeve 25 has a circular bottom 26 provided with a hole 27 for the passage of the axis 22. A nut 28 ensures the mounting of the inner sleeve 25 on the axis 22. Appropriate means (not shown) are provided for that the inner sleeve 25 is free to rotate about the axis 22.

In the vicinity of its bottom 26, the sleeve 25 comprises two radial conduits 30 each provided at their end with a hole 32 for the reaction drive of the rotating sleeve 25.

The inner sleeve 25 is mounted so that the radial conduits 30 are located between the bottom 26 of the sleeve interior 25 and the perforated bottom 21 of the conduit 16c (Figure 3).

The inner sleeve 25 comprises two symmetrical openings 34 arranged so as to come opposite, during the rotation of the sleeve 25, with the openings 24 of the conduit 16c.

An outer sleeve 35 remotely envelops the inner sleeve 25 in order to form a deflector whose role will be explained below.

The sleeve 35 comprises two diametrically opposite notches 36 receiving the radial conduits 30 which thus ensure the rotational drive of said sleeve 35 (Figure 3).

The cleaning apparatus 9 according to the invention operates in the following manner.

The device 9 is placed on the bottom of the pool P and then the other end of the pipe 10 is connected to a discharge mouth 5 of the pool P.

Under the pressure of the water which engages in the pipe 10, the latter stretches appreciably.

Most of the water discharged into the pipe 10 is expelled by the nozzle of the nozzle 14, the pressurized jet creating a suction which draws the water from the body 11 into the debris receptacle 17. The water sucked in by the mouth 12 carries with it the debris located in its vicinity. The suction of the water at the opening 12 has the effect of creating, in the known manner, a depression under the flange 18 and of pressing the device 9 against the surface to be cleaned.

A small part of the water discharged into the pipe 10 passes through the perforated bottom 21 of the conduit 16c, to be ejected through the holes 32 of the radial conduits 30. In reaction, the sleeves 25, 35 start to rotate.

During the rotation of the sleeves 25, 35, the slots 34 come, at each half-turn, to coincide with the slots 24 of the conduit 16c. This has the effect of abruptly and sharply reducing the pressure prevailing in the duct 16 as well as in the pipe 10, since the water suddenly escapes from the duct 16 through the lights 24. Following this sudden decrease in pressure, the pipe 10 se contracted. During this constriction, the pipe 10 pulls the conduit 16 towards it, which moves the device. This phenomenon of movement of the device by repeated constriction-stretching of the pipe 10 is well known and already used for cleaning devices operating in suction.

Par suite, la dépression permettant d'obtenir le placage de l'appareil 9 contre la surface à nettoyer est amoindrie, ce qui favorise le déplacement de l'appareil 9.It should be noted that the sudden decrease in pressure in the duct 16 and the pipe 10 has the effect of reducing the pressure of the jet from the nozzle 14 and, consequently, of decreasing the suction by the mouth 12. Consequently, the depression to obtain the plating of the device 9 against the surface to be cleaned is reduced, which promotes the movement of the device 9.

The difference between the outside diameter of the sleeve 25 and the inside diameter of the sleeve 35 is such that the water coming from the openings 24, 34 can be quickly evacuated between these two sleeves, in a direction which does not disturb the movement of the device. 9.

The difference between the outside diameter of the pipe 16c and the inside diameter of the sleeve 25 is such that the water leaks between these two elements are minimal.

The ejection of water through the ports 24 does not stop the rotation of the sleeve 25, so that said constriction-stretching phenomenon of the pipe 10 is reproduced at each coincidence between the ports 24, 34.

It should be noted that the depression created in the vicinity of the suction mouth 12 and the flange 18 allows the device to be pressed as well at the bottom of the pool as on its walls, even substantially vertical.

The apparatus described is inexpensive and adapts to all types of swimming pools. It limits the disturbances in the functioning of the skimmers 2 and of the bottom drain 1, which continue to ensure their function during the use of the device.

As the device 9 operates in discharge, the jolts caused are not harmful to the pump 3.

There is absolutely no need to initiate the operation of the device 9, and even less to monitor it during its operation.

The debris receptacle 17 makes it possible not to further foul the pre-filters and filters 4 of the circuit of the pool, reducing the risk of cavitation of the pump 3.

L'appareil 9 décrit ci-dessus accepte de nombreuses variantes, parmi lesquelles celles des figures 6 à 11.The device 9 described above accepts many variants, including those of FIGS. 6 to 11.

In FIG. 6, a variant has been illustrated in which the debris receptacle 17 is replaced by a removable filter cartridge with an opaque wall 37. This cartridge 37 makes the device more aesthetic, since the debris remains hidden inside the cartridge.

Un réducteur de vitesse, représenté symboliquement en 50, est disposé entre la turbine 39 et le pignon 40.In FIG. 7, the pipe 16b has been provided with an external sleeve 38 driven in rotation by means of a turbine 39 supplied with part of the water circulating in the pipe 16b. This turbine drives the sleeve 38 by a pinion 40 and belt 41 system. A speed reducer, symbolically represented at 50, is disposed between the turbine 39 and the pinion 40.

Le manchon 38 comporte un conduit d'échappement 43 d'axe perpendiculaire à l'axe I et un conduit d'échappement 44 coudé en direction de l'appareil 9.The sleeve 38 comprises an exhaust duct 43 with an axis perpendicular to the axis I and an exhaust duct 44 bent in the direction of the device 9.

The rotation of the sleeve 38 around the duct 16b allows the exhaust ducts 43 and 44 to communicate alternately with said duct 16b via an orifice 45.

The role of the exhaust pipes 43, 44 is to generate a lateral offset of the pipe 16b with a component parallel to the axis I, the effects of which add to those of the constriction and the stretching of the pipe 10.

Ceci permet de faciliter le passage de l'appareil 9 du fond aux parois de la piscine.FIG. 8 schematically represents a variant of the apparatus of the invention, in which the bent part of the conduit 16 is articulated at 46, around an axis substantially perpendicular to the plane defined by the axis of the body 11 and the axis H of conduit 16a. This facilitates the passage of the device 9 from the bottom to the walls of the pool.

La pièce de connexion, similaire au dispositif représenté sur la figure 7, est symbolisée en 47.FIG. 9 schematically represents part of a fourth variant of the apparatus of the invention, in which the cyclic discharge valve is provided, not on an extension of the pipe 16a outside the body 11 or on the pipe 16b, but on a connection piece from the pipe 10 to the discharge mouth 5. The connection piece, similar to the device shown in FIG. 7, is symbolized at 47.

On peut éventuellement supprimer la partie inclinée 16b du conduit 16 et connecter directement le tuyau 10 à la partie 16a.Optionally, the inclined portion 16b of the conduit 16 can be removed and the pipe 10 directly connected to the portion 16a.

A cet effet, l'appareil est muni d'un tube souple 48 débouchant dans le corps 11, de préférence en dessous du diffuseur à venturi et pourvu à son extrémité libre d'un flotteur 49.Finally, Figures 10 and 11 illustrate an improvement of the apparatus of the invention intended to peel it from the wall of the swimming pool when it arrives on the water line. To this end, the apparatus is provided with a flexible tube 48 opening into the body 11, preferably below the venturi diffuser and provided at its free end with a float 49.

When the apparatus arrives at the water line (FIG. 11), the tube 48 temporarily introduces air into the body 11 and the filter 37, which causes the apparatus to tilt according to arrow 50.

The apparatus straightens up, thus peeling off automatically from the vertical wall 51 of the swimming pool, then plunges towards the bottom while purging the air which has been introduced by the tube 48.

Such a device improves the efficiency of the device by reducing the time spent on the walls of the pool.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown and described, but on the contrary covers all variants thereof, in particular with regard to the structure and the location at any location between the nozzle 14 and the mouth. discharge 5 of the discharge valve 19. It should be noted that the discharge mouth can be replaced by other devices supplying water under pressure, such as a booster.
