Description

Book folders are used for the book-like presentation and storage of objects or information contents attached to or in sheet-like information carriers. In the present invention, it is book folders that are constructed on the spine principle. They are described in WO 92/15 461.

The plug-in back design was not only significantly improved in the present invention but also created new uses and applications.

The main feature of book folders according to WO 92/15 461 is an additional plug-in spine 2 which closes the folder to the rear. In Figures 1 to 4 shown in WO 92/15 461, the actual plug-in spine 2 and also the line-up pin 10 for the perforated items are fixedly attached to the side part 1. On the opposite side part 4 are the insertion elements 5, which fit into the recesses 3 located on the back 2. On the side part 4, the insertion holes 9 are also made, into which the heads of the alignment pins 10 attached to the side part 1 engage. According to claim 1 of WO 92/15 461, the insertion elements 5 can be attached either on the side part 1 or on the side part 4.

Book folders manufactured according to WO 92/15 461 already have excellent stability. It is also possible to read the two open pages in an inviting manner in book form and, if necessary, to ensure unobstructed labeling because there are no upstanding, annoying rings, locking brackets or locking mechanisms. There is also no risk of injury due to the pointed ends of the alignment pins, as is particularly the case with some ring binder mechanisms. Softer and thinner papers can be used as data carriers since the risk of tearing out in the hole area is significantly lower due to the larger diameter of the alignment bolts. Thinner papers not only make it easier to turn the page, they also significantly increase the storage capacity. This also indirectly results in lower paper costs. The plug-in back can be easily adapted for storing in hanging files without cover parts. Furthermore, in the case of not completely or only partially filled plug-in folder files according to WO 92/15 461, there is no separate clamping device for pressing together of the stored goods necessary. This applies in particular to plug-in book folders with four alignment pins, the spacing of which, for example, corresponds to the standard spacing of four-ring binders. In the case of not completely filled plug-in book folders, the information content is even more accessible than when the storage capacity is fully utilized. The different ring thicknesses and "curvatures" given in particular in the ring binders are eliminated. This is particularly advantageous when registers are used. A uniform hole diameter for the items to be stored can also be selected for all book folder widths if the diameter of the alignment pins 10 is the same for all spine widths. The actual internal folder width can be fully used for filing purposes, because the tips of the alignment pins 10 protrude into the insertion holes 9 in the side part 4. The alignment pins 10 are therefore always somewhat longer than the actually available usable space. This eliminates the otherwise mechanically-related, often very considerable "empty spaces" between the book folder covers and the line-up mechanisms or the actually available usable space for the individual mechanisms.

Despite the advantages listed above, there are still a few weaknesses in the plug-in spine folder designs described in WO 92/15 461:
  • 1. Book folders according to WO 92/15 461, like folder files, can only be opened on one side because the spine 2 is either fixed to the side part 1 or fixed to the side part 4. In the illustrations 1 to 4, this is always the side part 1. New sheets can therefore only be inserted or removed on the opposite side in each case via the ends of the alignment pins 10 which are freely upward. This means that the plug-in book folder can either be opened only on the front or only on the back, depending on which side part (1 or 4) the plug-in back 2 is fixed. If the plug-in spine 2 is fixedly attached to the side part 1, this requires a filing sequence corresponding to the folder storage, because the plug-in spine book folder can only be opened on the front. However, if the spine 2 is fixed to the side part 4, the spine book folder can only be opened on the back. As a result, only a book-like chronological filing order, which always supplements at the back, is possible, as is desirable, for example, for filing magazines. In the embodiment according to WO 92/15 461, there is therefore no possibility, as already stated, of optionally opening the book folder “front” or “back”.
  • 2. Another problem with the book folder design according to WO 92/15 461 compared to ring binders or folders with lever mechanisms still exists: It is not possible to remove information carriers (sheets) from the stored stack at any point or at any point Place. In order to achieve this goal, as is customary in the case of folder, all the "sheets" lying above it must first be lifted off the alignment pins 10. As a result, there is a risk that the storage part, which is no longer secured by the alignment pins 10, will become disordered. It also takes more time.
  • 3. In the book folder design according to WO 92/15 461, two differently designed side parts 1 or 4 have to be made, since one side part (1 or 4) is always permanently connected to the spine 2. This is also the case because only one side part is equipped with alignment pins and the opposite side part (1 or 4) is only equipped with the insertion holes 9 for receiving the heads of the alignment pins 10. This complicates and increases the cost of production, assembly and warehousing. In WO 92/15 461, therefore, it is not possible to have a uniform, "front" and "rear" fitting, which is limited to only one embodiment and therefore also reduces production costs. In addition, the actual plug-in spine 2 cannot be selected in a simple manner independently of the side part design, because, for example, other shape or color variations in the plug-in spine 2 are desired.

The above-mentioned, still existing disadvantages of plug-back book folder designs according to WO 92/15 461 are eliminated by the improved plug-back design.

The opening of the book folder on both sides and the design of the spine that is more independent of the side part design are achieved by designing the spine as a separate, loose component and not being permanently connected to any side part.

The uniform design of the side parts is also possible when the plug-in spine folder is designed with a narrow back part, in that the plug-in elements on the side parts are not symmetrically but laterally offset and the opposite flank parts of the spine have matching recesses. As a result, the plug-in elements are also laterally offset in a narrow plug-in back, but are arranged side by side.

If more than two alignment pens are used per book folder, it is even possible to remove or insert appropriately punched information carriers at any point in the existing filing stack. This object of the invention is achieved in that the alignment pins and the respectively opposite insertion holes on the side parts are alternately arranged at the desired intervals. When the stack is lifted above the desired location, the information carriers are secured in the existing filing order by the alignment pins attached to the top of the page and penetrating the stack from above. A version with four rows of pins corresponding to the four-ring binders is particularly ideal for this, only two of which are permanently attached to each side part. Only this embodiment variant is shown in FIG. 1.

In the diagrammatic drawing consisting only of FIG. 1, the aforementioned embodiment variant is shown as one of many possible exemplary embodiments of the present invention and is then described, insofar as it is still necessary at all. Furthermore, inventive features described in WO 92/15 461 are no longer discussed and assumed to be already known.

The reference numbers are assigned to the following training features: 1 strip-like, completely identical side parts; 2 loose plug backs, which are not permanently connected to any side part 3 fitted recesses on the back of the plug on both opposite flank parts for the plug-in elements 5; 4 preferably rounded outer edge of the side parts; 6 plug in the plug, which is equipped with a sliding element 7 and with invisible insert parts, which engage in the corresponding recesses 8 on the plug-in elements (for wider plug backs, at least two slide gates 6 are required, which are always at the same distance parallel to the sides Flank parts of the spine 2 run so that uniformly formed side parts 1 and 5 insert elements can be used in book folders with different spine widths); 10 tubular or peg-shaped, stable alignment pins and insertion holes 9 for receiving the alignment pin ends, which are alternately, asymmetrically attached to the side parts; 11 shows a hint that the actual book folder cover is directly connected to the strip-shaped side parts via a hinge.

In the embodiment shown with four aligning pins 10 per book stapler, both opposite side parts 1 are completely identical because the side parts 1 can be used on both sides. Therefore, not only the insertion elements 5 but also the alignment pins 10 and the insertion holes 9 are asymmetrically attached to the side part 1. This means that on each side part 1 there are two similarly asymmetrically arranged line-up pins 10 and alternately two likewise asymmetrically arranged insertion holes 9 for the ends of the line-up pins 10 attached to the respectively opposite side part.

In addition to the design variant shown in the drawing, there are many other design options, not shown, for the features of the invention mentioned in claims 1 to 3, which relate in particular to the design of the locking slide 6 and the arrangement or the number of alignment pins 10 and insertion holes 9.
