Claims (10)

  1. An operating handle for a motor vehicle door lock mechanism, of the type comprising a base (12) which is received in an opening in a door panel, the base (12) having a surface (14) for engagement against the outer face of the door panel, a control blade (16) which is articulated on the base (12) between a rest position and an unlocking position, and which is coupled to the lock mechanism, and of the type in which the door panel is clamped between the engagement surface (14) of the base (12) and a clamp element (22) attached on the base (12), characterised in that the clamp element (22) of the base (12) is mounted on the base for movement between a deployed, fitting position and a fastening position towards which it is displaced during the fitting of the handle (10) by the action of a cam (26) carried by the blade (16), during the first movement of the blade (16) from the rest position to the locking position.
  2. A handle according to Claim 1, characterised in that the clamp element is a wedge (22) which slides on the base (12) between the deployed fitting position and the fastening position, and which has a clamping bottom face (34) in contact with a web portion (18) of the door panel and, at the top, an inclined plane (36) cooperating with a reaction element (28) of the base (12) during the sliding movement so as to ensure clamping by wedging action.
  3. A handle according to Claim 2, characterised in that the reaction element is a T-shaped element, the vertical branch (32) of which extends from the engagement surface (14) at right angles to the latter, with its horizontal branch (30) being parallel to the engagement surface (14) and at right angles to the direction of sliding movement (A2) of the wedge (22), for cooperation with the inclined plane (36) of the latter.
  4. A handle according to Claim 3, characterised in that the wedge (22) has a slot (40) for passage through it of the vertical branch (32) of the reaction element (28).
  5. A handle according to Claim 3 or Claim 4, characterised in that the horizontal branch (30) of the reaction element (28) that cooperates with the inclined plane (36) is, in the fastening position, lodged within a notch (38) formed in the inclined plane (36), whereby to immobilise the wedge in that position.
  6. A handle according to any one of Claims 3 to 5, characterised in that the clamping bottom face (34) of the wedge (22) is in contact with the inside face (17) of the door panel.
  7. A handle according to any one of Claims 3 to 6, characterised in that the T-shaped reaction element (28) is arranged to be received through a slot (20) in the door panel (18).
  8. A handle according to any one of Claims 3 to 7, characterised in that the control blade (16) is articulated about an axis (A1) parallel to the sliding direction of the clamping wedge (22).
  9. A handle according to Claim 8, characterised in that the cam (26) is formed on a side face of an articulating arm (60) of the control blade (16), and in that the working surface of the cam cooperates with a control edge (82) of the clamping wedge (22) that extends in a direction substantially at right angles to the sliding direction.
  10. A handle according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that it includes two clamp elements (22) arranged symmetrically.
