Description

Sattelstützenrohr für ein Zweirad.Seat post tube for a two-wheeler.
The invention relates to a seat post tube with an air pump insert with a valve head for a two-wheeled vehicle, in particular for a bicycle, the seat post tube forming the air pump pressure tube, and the air pump pressure tube receiving a push rod with a piston in an axially movable manner.
The known seat posts consist of a so-called seat post tube, which is equipped at its upper end with a clamping device for the saddle. Other seat post tubes are designed so that a saddle with its own clamping device can be attached to the upper tube section. In any case, the known seat post tubes are open at their lower end.
An air pump is required to inflate the bicycle tire, which is usually carried on the bicycle. Such an air pump is usually attached to the frame so that it can be clamped on the outside. The disadvantage here is that the air pump is accessible to everyone on the one hand, and therefore there is a risk of theft. It is also not to be missed that an air pump attached to such an exposed location, particularly when attached to a mountain bike, is exposed to heavy soiling. It has therefore already been proposed to place the air pump in a protected and safe place on the bicycle. It is known from DE-US 36 02 279 to arrange the air pump in the horizontal frame tube, the frame tube being slotted to accommodate the air pump. The disadvantage here is the reduction in frame stability due to the arrangement of the slot in the horizontal frame tube.
It is also known to insert a complete air pump into the seat post tube (DE-GM 73 37 703). In this case, the seat post tube serves as a storage container for the air pump. So that such an air pump can be inserted into the seat post tube, it must have an outer diameter that is smaller than the inner diameter of the seat post tube. Due to its small diameter, such an air pump also only has a low pumping capacity.
A seat post of the type mentioned is known from DE-GM 90 05 166. Here, the seat post tube forms the air pump pressure tube, whereby after pivoting the saddle the push rod becomes visible, which is axially movably mounted in the seat post tube. At the lower end of the seat post tube there is a hose in the vertical seat tube of the frame of the bicycle, which connects the air pump unit to a connector arranged on the frame. The connector is connected to the valve of the wheel to be inflated, for example by a flexible hose. The disadvantage here is the considerable effort that has to be carried out constructively on the one hand and that is necessary on the other hand to initiate the pumping process. Finally, a connector, for example a hose, must always be taken to connect the connector located on the frame to the valve of the wheel.
The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a seat post with an air pump insert which ensures simple and convenient handling. The object is achieved according to the invention in that the push rod has the valve head, the air pump pressure tube which can be removed from the frame of the two-wheeler can be closed at the end, and the air compressed by the push rod in the air pump pressure tube can be guided through the push rod to the valve head. That is, that by the axial movement of the push rod in the interior of the air pump pressure pipe, the compressed air is guided through the push rod designed as a pipe to the valve head, which can be placed on the valve of the wheel. To inflate the wheel, for example a bicycle, the seat post tube together with the bicycle saddle is removed from the vertical frame tube of the bicycle. The bicycle saddle serves as a pump handle during the pumping process. This means that the bicycle saddle does not have to be removed from the seat post tube or the air pump pressure tube to inflate it. It is essential that, in contrast to the known air pumps, the valve head is attached to the push rod; normally the valve head is located on the air pump pressure pipe. This structural design opens up the possibility that the saddle can remain firmly connected to the air pump pressure pipe during the pumping process. If, on the other hand, one wanted to attach the valve head to the air pump pressure pipe, as is customary in the prior art, the saddle would have to be connected to the push rod. Such a construction would lead to considerable stability problems.
In particular, it is further provided that the push rod, which preferably has a piston at the end, can be guided in a closure cap arranged in the air pump pressure tube. It can further be provided that a cylindrical sleeve can be inserted into the seat post tube; such a sleeve can be machined more precisely and easily than the actual seat post tube, which in particular also enables better guidance of the piston of the push rod. As with any other air pump, an air inlet is also provided in the air pump pressure pipe. The air inlet is preferably formed by a gap, in particular an annular gap between the closure cap and the push rod. The air drawn in is conveyed past the piston of the push rod into the pressure chamber in order to be compressed. For this purpose, as is known from air pumps, there is a movable tab on the piston which, during the suction process, releases the annular gap between the piston and the air pump pressure pipe, but seals the annular gap during the compression process.
In order to achieve a high pump pressure, it is proposed according to a particular embodiment to insert an insert element into the push rod, as a result of which the compression space which is formed by the interior of the push rod is reduced. This insert element, for example a hose, has an opening to the air pump pressure pipe at one end and is connected to the valve head at the other end. The insert element is held at one end by a sealing plug arranged in the push rod, which can be part of the piston.
